The Xecuter PS3 HDXT is a caddy type frame that plugs into the PS3 internally where the 2.5" Sata drive would normally slot. You then clip on the matching faceplate and bingo you now have a clean external Sata connection. No frills and no fuss. You can now add any hard drive you wish and connect it any way you wish. We have also designed a simple but cost effective Sata to IDE convertor.

You will have to power your new HDD externally ... either with a 220/110V to molex/sata-power adapter or you can buy one of those external/cased SATA HDDs from companies like LaCie, Seagate and others. Also note that once your PS3 is connected with an external drive you can no longer put your console vertically as the adapter is on the bottom.
The 'IDE to SATA Adapter' (sold separately) allows you to easily connect any IDE HDD with your PS3.

Video of the PS3 HDXT in action ... with a normal PC (cheap) 3.5" Seagate 500GB SATA drive ... powered with a 220V-molex/sata adapter.

Yeah, definitely buying this, since I already have a useless 3.5' 300 GB SATA drive (My PC is only compatible with ATA)

I don't get the point having such a Huge HDD just yet, but it may be useful someday

If i ever do this, i'll probably swap out my 160gb from my PC and throw a larger one into my PC

Plus, i've already run out of power-sockets in my room

it will be wonderful if some one can tell me if it can work
PS:it is physically 2 G-SATA external drives but i formated it with the osx disk utility as one logical 2 TB RAID drive,
even if it worked one at a time it will be cool, i dont mind swapping between them if it is necessary.

What type of RAID??

Wouldnt one have to configure RAID through the actual bios of the PS3 itself?? LOL, Im willing to bet that a raid configuration simply isnt going to work here guys. Even if one could hack the bios I simply cant see it working the hdds need to be on a unified connection on the board itself, be the same hdd, be formatted etc.........

No! i used to have a 1 TB G-RAID, it was connectable using FIREWIRE/USB2 and it worked on pc or mac without and hardware support, all you need is the SATA interface and the fromat tool (I think)

Really?? This is the first time I have heard of that. So you had two hdds hooked through usb and was able to run a raid on them.

yes the bridge is inside the external case and it act as one drive thru the connection cable.

Alright I got ya, the raid is configured outside of the system itself and then one connection is brought to the system. I was under the impression that it was two seperate connections. Hell first time I have heard of this either, good call.:thumbr:

and the 1TB is about 500$ so it is not that expensive (unless the one 1TB HDD hit the market with a less price tag)
