And am quitting Windows for good.
Bought a new desktop yesterday (a 1GHz AMD) as my father took my desktop in the divorce. I got my base Gentoo installed, and am now emerging KDE. (I saw that the 2007.0 version of the Gentoo Handbook was up, but alas all I could download was 2006.1.)
I am NOT going to be dualbooting with XP, for once. Hopefully I can use Wine if I need anything. We shall see how this will work.

Yikes, your braver than I am. Since I'm a gamer I don't think I'll ever completely drop Windows. Congrats man, hope it all works well for you

Working well so far.
Haha, I made some stupid mistakes early on dealing with USE flags that forced me to recompile portions of KDE (if any of you are gentoo users; I think Teh Roxor is the only one). And I have partial sound working with ALSA; since the KDE system sounds are in ogg format, I am trying to get a demuxer for ogg installed, but am having some trouble..

Haha Filibuster, that's great.
Well the only PC game I play regularly is Enemy Territory and it is available natively for Linux, so I'm good.
So... now I'm at the point where I'm like, why haven't I done this earlier? No remorse like I thought I would have (except over some files I missed copying before wiping XP away [which felt soooo good]).

haha, i wish i had the guts to do it too. i will eventually, it's like smoking, you have to let it off slowly to quit. (i don't smoke)

Yea the games I play include COD2, TES: Oblivion, KOTOR 1&2, so I'm in no position to rid myself of Windows...except maybe on my lappy

hmm. you could try purchasing cedega or try wine for free, you might have some luck with wine but it's mainly for apps, cedega plays most windows games on linux. Just something for you to ponder :)
