I Was Just Wondering How Many Of You PS3 Owners Post On Here From Your PS3 And Actually Use Your PS3's Web Browser A Lot. I Think This Is The Only PS3 Feature That I Find To Be Awesome[The Wii Web Browser Sucks IMO]. If You Have Any Complaints Or Just Wanna Brag About How You Guys Have One And Us XBOX Users Don't, Feel Free To Do So.

I Wish We'd Get An XBOX 360 Web Browser In The Fall Update.

Seriously man... very frustrating to read....

It's worse than blocks of single paragraph text....

I use it everytime when my PS3 is on.
I play a bit this game, then i play this game, then i chat with a buddy, then i browse with the PS3 here to PSINext to look for cool PS3 news...
I love this feature its very cool and i must say it works really well even on my very old TV.

The web browser works well, it's really nice. I hope they keep on upgrading it because I plan to use it more and more.

I use it whenever I'm on my PS3. It's a bit awkward since I only have an SD tv, but I should be getting a HD display within a week or two.

Here's Something I Was Wondering, Can You Download AIM And Other Messengers Onto It?

The zoom feature compensates the SDTV low resolution. If you just want to watch videos or pictures, it's totally fine.

Regarding IM, I believe you can use web sites that load IM apps. I once did.

Haven't tried it. Downloading maybe. Running them definitely not, but you can install linux and run such programs.

It didn't work flawlessly, but it worked nonetheless. If they can improve that, we'll get IM on top of web browsing. Maybe it was just that it didn't work perfectly with the particular site I tried, but whatever.

Yeah i use it often, especially when i "fold"..it's a cool feature, but of course it has flaws, the majority of the streaming vids doesn't work(aside for youtube's),and sometimes it freezes for no appearent reasons(like when i try to go to peekvid.com),but overall it's a good start and it will only get better.

I use it come here and official game sites like IGN and Game Informer. The updates are nice...

I would use the PS3's web browser a lot more if Youtube wasn't choppy and I could stream KCRWMusic.com through an applet of some kind that could play Winamp/iTunes (or Windows Media Player or RealNetworks) streaming radio...

you mean that no one has even cracked a way or attempted to crack a way to put linux or something on the 360? it would be nice. that would make it equal to its competitors in outside the disc stuff.

360 runs signed (encrypted) binaries from Microsoft only. I think people are working on cracking that, haven't kept up.

It stops homebrew but not copying 360 games. Yeah. good job there Microsoft. Hmmm...

I am wishing for a Xbox360 browser too, why? well to help you how to NOT type every word with a Capital letter ;). Hope Microsoft will listen to you and provide a tool (balloon tips is a nice one) to alert you about those capital letters.

"You are posting like a retard. Allow or Disallow?"
Kidding :P

Sony still has that deal with Skype and Xfire, don't forget guys
So messenger side of things should be dealt with when-ever.

Xfire deal was exclusively dealing with Untold Legends if I'm not mistaken.

Thankfully there's the PSiNext link, otherwise you couldn't AFAIK browse other than stanford uni fah pages. It doesn't allow inputting the web page yourself while launching the browser from fah client.

LOL and I still suck with the graphics tools.

I've seen the wii browser, but I never used it. Can you elaborate on its differentiality?

And yes, I do browse and even post from my PS3 when I don't fell like using the PC.

I dont ever use it. I think the interface needs some refinement but thats not the reason I dont use it. I simply feel much more comfortable in my library/lounge on the pc rather than at the couch surfing.

My PC is right next to the PS3, so there's no point me using the browser. I've used it to see what it's like, but that's about it at the moment.

I'm not with you on this one guys : I think that surfing the web on the PS3 is really a pain :
- it is very very very low compared to a PC
- on my SD TV I'm always zooming and unzooming, that makes it hard to read anything
- have you tried the sticky thread " PS3 general video archive (all links in first post)" : you can't almost see any of the videos linked

Even if I think it is very convenient, I feel that Sony have a lot to do to improve it.

VG Aficionado
04-23-2007, 11:22 PM
Yeah, there's a lot to be improved. However, the vast majority of Internet sites and any other place where text is predominant weren't designed for SD displays.

There is a link to google on the stanford fah site, so you can view most sites by searching google. I wish they did make it easier though.

I use it sometimes. It's handy. Ps3 doesn't lag like my computer does, because there aren't any background operations, so I use it sometimes. Just to do it. It won't be perfect until the PS3 has WMV and AVI decoders.
