Play his games or not, Shigeru Miyamoto's influence is impacted on just about every game we play today in some form or fashion from actual gameplay mechanics to methods of control.

He's up for Time Magazine's 100 most influential people. No member of the video game community has ever been up for this list and we get to vote on it. At current, he's ranked number 6 (was number 3 just an hour ago) against the likes of J. K. Rawlings, Stephen Colbert, Rain and the King of Thailand (I'm not kidding and he's actually leading).

Here's the link to the original thread.

Vote for Shiggy sent.

The man is a frickin' genius.

(But I gave Steve Jobs a higher rating naturally. :) )

(And Bono a zero. :) )

I was disappointed they named perfectionist as a trait hurting him.

I mean, yes, they delayed Zelda TP, but honestly, that's not perfectionism. In my eyes, that's quality control.

He just dropped from a score of 91 to 90. That means a groups must be working against him as well. He fell to 5th place.

I put up 100 for him. I really want to see him get it, the man is just such a big part of the industry and a big part of the reason why it's so popular and is growing so fast. He's really done big things.

Not that the other guys on the list haven't, but I'm giving him my vote because I'm a gamer.

Alright, so how do we put in extra votes?

Do we have to make new IP addresses? Clear our cookies? What must be done!?!?!?

Really.... lol :D

I just had this very evil idea...

I think it would be more effective to give all the close competitors zero. over and over again, being that it would change the scores more in Shig's favour than simply giving Shig's 100s.

Anyone want to do this? lol :P

LaLiLuLeLo

yes. but the lowest you can give them is 1.

I'm getting pwned regularly with every post I make in this thread :(

Ok, I took the liberty to make links for all of the 90+ guys in the top 5, I hope there are no more 90 scoring guys right now lol. The flash thing is not letting me middle mouse click to tab browse them, so I'm just doing this for myself and anyone else who wants to do it this way lol.

I voted for him and Colbert. Colbert had to get my vote, especially after the Metaphor Off. That shit was classic.

He's up for Time Magazine's 100 most influential people. No member of the video game community has ever been up for this list

Weird, I seem to remember Hideo Kojima having been in top 10 on that list a few years ago.

Hideo Kojima has been interviewed and featured in other stories in Time but has never been up for this list.

Miyamoto should be first. There are heaps of Miyamoto fanboys on the internet. Miyamoto is easily the most influential person. No one else has personally hand sculpted an entire industry into one such as the video game industry.

What noobs are voting for Colbert? Grr.

While I hope he gets it, I think Stephen Colbert has more influence, he had Oprah saying "truthiness" for heaven's sake!
