ok, i had this weird incidence tonight when i played resistance. it was all good till 10min into the game and suddenly the tv went blank for a second then everything went back to normal again. same happened to motor storm i was playing other day. could it b the ps3's problem or my TV's? i've HDMI cable connected to my HD plasma. never had any problem with screen goin blank for a sec when i was playing 360. did this happened to anyone else?

Yup, it happens about once a month on my PS3 via hdmi. It's HDCP going in and out of sync.

Sounds like something in your TV finally making some technical adjustments to the video it's receiving. Ever happen with any other console?

It's an HDMI issue. It depends on your TV. You can also try different things such as turning on your TV before the PS3 or vise-versa to see if you get better results.

Happens to me as well. Its common and nothing to be alarmed about, I believe Apple is correct.

The hell, the same thing happens to me alot. I got this Plasma that says through its manual that it can display 720p and 1080i but if I go into custom display in the PS3 display setting and tick 1080p it can be displayed.

I encountered the same problem with the split second blank screens and it would happen a few time, but lately when I was playing blastfactor the screen would blank out way too many times, 3 times in a row a few seconds pass then it blanks out again. Shoot this is a real problem, Evillion if you find a solution please share.

It's a HDCP issue with HDMI, the only viable solution is to use DVI to HDMI for video and run optical for sound. If your TV does not have a DVI port you will have to deal with the issue unless your TV support 1080P over component... The issue seems to occur with certain televisions, but no TV OEM has stepped up and admitted it's their problem. I put the onus on Sony and the HDCP standard as a whole; if it was one TV OEM I would think differently, but there's been several TV models with this issue...

Overload mate, first make sure u set the res within the range of your TV's, i wouldnt set it on 1080p if it doesnt support it in the first place. that could b the problem. and if your using HDMI cable try a different one or try component i guess. at this point i think thats the only options.

The thing about the tv is, both 720 and 1080i are off centered and there quite abit of the screen picture lost. When I play in 1080p its perfectly centered, the only other problem with being in 1080p is that the visual interface that tells you what mode your tv is on will continue to display the picture and since its a plasma I dont want burn in. This problem with the blanking out just started a few months later. Oh well I just use my 480i tv, I'm going to look into using a computer monitor for 1080p display, for sound I run through optical so HDMI/DVI is a feasible option.

^ I used HDMI/DVI with my last display and had absolutely no problems...
HDMI/DVI = no HDCP
