Not allowed to post scans on here am I? Here's the link (http://www.playsyde.com/news_4246_en.html) to them.
Famitsu this week has nothing less than 4 full pages about Everybody's Golf 5, as always for this series much awaited in Japan. The online lobby is unveiled, and it certainly does look very cute.

Some of the info is covered in the Weekly Famitsu thread, but not all the info has been translated and they've now put it all up on Famitsu's website, so we may as well have a thread on it anyway.
(very loosely interpreted info, I may miss something so a proper translation would be nice :))

fuzzy math, 1.2 x 6 = 7.2 dvd is sufficient. You can make it 5 gigs per course if you want, i'm not stopping you. I just want this game to be fully packed with content to justify my purchase.

Does the demo use motion control at all? I don't speak Japanese so I have no idea what the hell I'm doing. From what I can tell there are two choices on swing mechanics; the traditional way (HSG4) with the power meter, and a new way that involves reading the golfers swing animation to determine how much "power" is being applied. Is this correct or is there some motion control as well?

no Motion in the demo ( i don't know about final game ) so ..you are correct ..
but you should try the super shots also..it's fun
here
There are various "special" shots that can be performed by pressing
different direction combinations while setting shot power and accuracy.
Rising and Homing shots are available when you obtain a character's second
(2nd) loyalty heart. Spiral shots become available after obtaining a
character's fourth (4th) loyalty heart. To perform any of these shots
PERFECT IMPACT is necessary.
Super sidepsin left = Spiral shot - Hold left when setting shot power, then
hold right when setting impact. Perfect impact is necessary.
Super sidepin right = Spiral shot - Hold right when setting shot power, then
hold left when setting impact. Perfect impact is necessary.
Super backspin = Homing ball - Hold up when setting shot power, then hold down
when setting impact. Perfect impact is necessary. A successful Homing ball
will strike the pin bounce off then strike again repeatedly.
Super topspin = Rising ball - Hold down when setting shot power, then hold up
when setting impact. Perfect impact is necessary. A successful Rising ball
will strike the pin roll up the pin and drop into the cup.
Super high trajectory - Hold down when setting shot power, then hold down when
setting impact. Perfect impact is necessary.
Super low trajectory - Hold up when setting shot power, then hold up when
setting impact. Perfect impact is necessary.

Everybody’s Golf 5 is off to a strong start in Japan. The game has already sold more than 150K on its first day release. A total of 300k copies were shipped out. Many stores in Japan are reporting that , they have already sold out of the number of shipments they received.

The person that bought it for me said she waited 2.5 hours in line to get it, there were people buying a bundled PS3 set and the game. The huge line wasn't for DS Lites for once :)

Gundam is the best selling game with ~300k sold.
This sold 150k on it's first day of sale but it should pass Gundam in a few weeks.

Hands on by inefficient@B3D (http://forum.beyond3d.com/showpost.php?p=1040654&postcount=103)
I was playing this almost my entire Saturday. I'm liking it even more than I thought I would.
Single player is addicting because you keep unlocking items/costumes/golf clubs. Plus you keep leveling up the characters you play. You gain new characters by beating them in the tournaments. It does also allow you to switch between the playable characters you have unlocked. I think there is 20 playable characters total. Different caddies are also unlockable.
I played a couple rounds of multi player. I was surprised that so many people are playing already! There multi player model is kind of interesting. It's divided into multiple zones (servers I guess). Each zone has multiple "lobbies". The lobbies are 50 characters max. And this is the "Home" like community environment where toon characters are running/playing around or chatting to each other while they wait for the match.
To join a match you have to go into one of these lobby areas and once in the lobby you have access to the game schedule of that server. There are games starting at regular intervals. And you have to basically enroll yourself in a game in advance of it actually occuring. The disadvantage to that is that you can't just pop in to the game and be on a course instantly like that. Sometimes you have to wait 20 or more mins just because its currently a bit hard to find a game that isn't full that isn't starting within 20mins
What I would do is book two or more tee times even as far as an hour in advance . Then I would exit the multi player part of the game and play some SP and then rejoin the lobby a few mins before my game was about to start.
Each game has 50 players max. And because you have to join them well in advance they are almost always full. Players that suck can retire early if they choose to. You don't actually see the other players rendered on the field. Everyone plays their hole at the same time. Once you complete your hole, you are returned to this scoreboard area for a min or two while you wait for the rest of the players to complete their hole. This is where you get to see how other players did compared to you. You'll see your position on the score board move up and down after every hole as well as other statistics. Plus it gives the players a chance to chat with each other between holes.
Before I got the game, my initial fear about MP was that it would just drag on and be really slow when you have to wait on a lot of other players. But this system seems to keep the game moving along at a nice brisk pace. While keeping the sense of competition is still very strong.
The community lobby areas seem quite lively. You've got 50 characters in each lobby either waiting for their tee times or just hanging out and chatting. And the Japanese players seem to be really enjoying themselves in it. Your avatar is customizable. And as you progress in the game you get upgrades for your in lobby avatar character. Plus it has a basic gesturing system which is fun. You make gestures by moving the left analog. If you click on the left analog your cursor changes to a hovering finger over other players avatars and you can inspect personal information about them. Like a basic personal stats and any greets they left for other people to read.
Right now there is only 2 themed lobby areas that I have seen. Just a really typical western hotel lobby looking place. And then a very Japanese style ryokan hotel complete with an onsen and everything. In one of the ingame videos I saw there were other themed lobbies. So they must either be unlockable for higher level players, or they have not made them available to players yet. Maybe more content updates will be patched in later.
Speaking of patches, the game did require a patch for MP immediately after logging in.
Anyway, it's a quality piece of software. If it hasn't already sold well, I expect word of mouth will carry this game even further and give it legs as far as sales are concerned. The community aspect of it is unlike any other current playstation game out there. I suppose Final Fantasy Online is the only other PS game with a community aspect that is even close. But that is subscription based. And this is free. It's not even a full priced game! I only payed 5380JPN ($45USD) for it at retail!
Is it possible to start a review of a golf game without a reference to a good walk spoiled? Apparently not. But golf's real problem isn't that it spoils a good walk. It's that golfers spoil a potentially good game, with their blazers and ties, and their committees, and their archaic attitude to women and all that sort of thing (although don't tell my dad I said that: he's the captain at his local golf club).
Minna no Golf is, in stark contrast, a good game of golf, unspoiled by any of that. From start to finish, it just exudes charm. Like your caddy, who zooms off after each shot to make sure he (or she) is there, panting, to greet your ball when it lands. Or the 'NICE SHOT' that appears in great big multi-coloured letters every time you hit a good shot. Or the sound of cowbells, or the sight of swans as you make your way round the various courses. Or the slightly non sequitur but relaxing and serene images of tranquil vistas, or swimming dolphins, that greet you in pinpoint high definition at the end of every round (a personal favourite is the killer whale).
In terms of the actual game design, Minna no Golf is unabashedly old school. Unlike games like Tiger Woods, which have moved into the modern era by featuring a growing roster of licensed names and courses and incorporating a mimetic analog stick waggle, Minna no Golf does pretty much the same thing that previous games in the series have always done. Which means that Minna no Golf, unlike the real thing, and the games that aim to ape it, provides a wonderful invigorating streak of colour and character across the golf course.
The structure is the same as before. There are 15 characters, six courses, and seven caddies available to unlock (with just two characters, one caddy and one course open at the start of the game). There's strokeplay, matchplay, multiplayer, and a variety of challenges that allow you to unlock new costumes, clubs and balls, and each set of challenges culminates in a matchplay game against the next unlockable character. There are online tournaments, and cute online lobbies, modelled on Japenese hot springs, or tatami rooms, peopled by Mii-style avatars, decked out in a variety of costumes, from scuba divers to schoolgirls.
And there's the same, tried and tested mechanics that have featured in all the previous Minna no Golf games, barring a cosmetic change. The way you used to play Minna no Golf was with a simple three-tap system: one tap to set the power bar going; a second to confirm the power of your shot; and a third to determine the control and accuracy. The new system sees an equally simple three-tap system: one tap to set your swing going; a second to confirm the power of your shot; and a third to determine the control and accuracy. It's the same power bar system that golfing videogames have employed since time immemorial, just without the power bar. So it's just as intuitive - and probably more so - than ever before (and in any case, old-hand die-hards still have the option to use the old system). It does make putting slightly more difficult at first, but only until you suss out the relative power of different putts and learn to read the greens.
In the world of mobile phone gaming, they call this sort of design 'one button gaming', and get breathlessly excited about how it appeals to everyone, not just people who play games. That's absolutely true of Minna no Golf, but it's also true that the game sports sufficient depth to satisfy the most ardent wannabe pro golfer. It's got spin, mapped to the d-pad, and it's got boost shots, which you can use a certain number of times each round to gain a few extra yards. It's got a choice of players, clubs and balls, all of which have an impact on your style of play. And ultimately, it's got the infinite variety of a real game of golf, because wherever your ball lands it will create a subtly different challenge every time.
And that's why, in spite of all the similarities to previous games in the series, the game never runs into the law of diminishing returns. In spite of the fact that all you're doing is pressing a button three times, over and over again, it never gets boring. It would probably be too controversial to call it the best golf game, or the best PS3 game. But on both counts it's a remarkably close call.
Final score - 2/10 - Just kidding!
Final score - 8/10

Great game ;) I am 2 levels in to the challenge mode right now. Online play is pretty fun, though I am still no match for the Japanese kids that stay up all night playing a game to get ranked #1...
