First, of course, the bad.

March 17, 2003 - In a statement issued to IGNcube today, publisher LucasArts has officially confirmed that its upcoming RTX Red Rock title is no longer in development for the Nintendo GameCube. An official LucasArts spokesperson had this to say:

"LucasArts has cancelled the GameCube version of RTX Red Rock and will instead focus its development efforts for the game on the PlayStation 2. However, players can look forward to other GameCube releases from LucasArts, such as Gladius, this August.

And of course, the good. :D

LucasArts also will make a major game announcement for the [GameCube] platform in the coming weeks."

I really never knew anything about RTX Red Rock, so I'm not really affected.

Hopefully the new game will be good.

i don't get it
why would they cancel a game already in development, and then make an announcement for a completely diff game that they're making from scratch?

because to publish it costs money and royalties and it probably wouldn't sell. Therefore they just cancelled it for GCN before it even came out and it's on PS2 now.

ok thats true
so if they aren't expecting it to sell well on the cube, where's the logic in announcing a completely new game for the cube?

They're probably making a game that targets GCN's userbase more.

RTX Redrock sounds kinda bland to me. The graphics were typical lucasarts... low-end on polys, medium textures, and shitty framerate.

You'd think since the games roll out of the same studio as the Star Wars flicks that the games would be technilogical marvels? Nope. All are... average...

Those four games in the last eight years... most, if not all better on PC anyway.

Exactly my point. That's why I wasn't too eager for RTX... even the screenshots looked kinda blah.

Yeah, RTX Red Rock looked like garbage from a graphical standpoint..But Perhaps it had some potential? Now We Shall Never Know.
