You heard it at PSINext first, Calling all Cars is releasing today!

Play cops ‘n’ robbers on your PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) system this Thursday as Sony Computer Entertainment America will offer the much-anticipated PS3 exclusive, Calling All Cars™, on the PLAYSTATION®Store. Developed by Incognito Entertainment and overseen by the Spike TV Video Game Awards – 2005 Designer of the Year, David Jaffe, Calling All Cars was built specifically to take advantage of PS3 hardware, running at 1080p High Definition* at 60 frames per second for both offline and online gameplay, in either single-player or four-player split-screen.

Here is a tip I just picked up on. Camp the general location of the criminal with the magnet, and when the opponents hit him in the air just press R1 and he comes to you. This give you some separation from the wild pack and you have a chance to get away from then while they're all running into each other.

The graphics are pretty nice, its got a clean cell shaded look it and its in 1080p. Really you barely focus on the graphics because if you do you'll lose your catch.

C'mon dude it's a $10 game, even if the graphics were HORRIFIC, the gameplay is there and do I need to mention again? 10 friggin' dollars.

The idea alone is worth more than $10 and you get to PLAY it for $10.

The graphics are VERY pretty for the type of game. Very clean, very crispy, very smooth. The menus and music are also great. It would be a crime (no pun intended) to not buy this game.

There seems to be a fair share of unlockable content as well (cars that is). I've only unlocked 2 cars so far though. You can unlock up to 10 and initially start with 8.... So 18 total.

EDIT: There is also 4 difficulty settings. Starting from easiest to hardest they go Rookie, Sergeant, Captain, and Chief. You can unlock cars by either winning tournaments for each difficulty setting or accomplishing goals in certain levels in certain difficulties.

I've gotten the Rookie and Sergeant cars so far. For rookie you get a yellow/white F1 (the Yellow Rose) car and for Sergeant you get a moving out-house (the Dumper)! In game the Dumper has flies around it.

The game is fun, I got 23 points in one game against Totobeni and a computer. I'm proud of myself. He(?) did get the last game though.

Its to bad Jaffe called off the blogging, if he was still doing it he would have got harrassed for only including 4 levels.

Expansion pack in a month followed by a delay or two.

I'm enjoying the game, but I agree that 4 small maps are pushing it for 10 bucks... The perfect price would have been about 7 bucks or we should have got about 8 maps for 10 bucks IMO. The gameplay is fun and addictive especially if you had four controllers and a party with non gamers... This is a great party game and looks good in 1080P for what it is... The multiplayer is fun, but mic support still seems spotty, this is something Sony has to address, because it's getting old. I played for about an hour online and no mics worked the entire time... Overall the gameplay and balancing is solid and the title is worth the 10 bucks if you are looking for a fun simple party title. Hopefully we will get a couple of free maps down the road, because the 4 maps is pushing it for the price tag.

Alpine is my favorite map!
I was just playing multiplayer and a player was jumping the ramp to score 3 points and I was on his tail with the magnet. I managed to pull the convict from his car while in the air and scored the 3 points! Good times... The gameplay is solid I just want more maps and solid mic support.

Calling all Cars is such a fun and exciting game. IMO the best level by far is the Train Yard. Its set up just so amazingly, everyone races to the bottom of the screen crashing and bumping each other. One guy steals the criminal and races to the top with everyone else chasing, you pull away from the pack and manage to cross the tracks right before the first train passes. The leader is within your grasp, but then he hits boost, you instinctively hit R2 to close the gap but you just dont have enough energy to boost, its still rising its not enough.

You pass right through the random item box hoping you get anything other then that hammer, your just not close enough to effect him, you hit R1 and force select an item only to find that you got the criminal magnet. You pull out your magnet while chasing the leader, seconds apart and seconds left till the end of the match.

Having already passed the second train and leaving the other two to drown in there own self loathing, its just you and the leader. Only one point for you to tie, but he being the overconfident fool that he is tries to cement his lead and goes for the 2 pointer, up the ramp and through the jail. A second remains, your boost still not ready to go. You hold onto him, locked on perfectly. He goes up the ramp with you right behind him and the magnet does its thing, Gotcha. He flys right through the jail wondering why he hasn't won the game and you trailing him with the catch of the day enters the jail to score the winning goal with less then a second remaining.

Insane just insane.

For some reason I love the Burbs... I can't get over how much fun that level is with 4 people. I think I've also mastered it offline. I managed to complete the challenge "Win any level without letting the opponent score (2 min, single level, Cheif)" and I won "Sweet Cheecks". Currently I'm going for the "Cherry Picker" car.

it was mainly the lack of levels and the small size of those levels that made me stop playing. i actually downloaded it for my cousin who played it once and has never played it since.
