To clarify, I just wanted to see exactly what you see as complex.
However, I do disagree with much of that list for you to say it's complex. The only stages on their that I agree are complex are Rainbow Cruise, Big Blue, Brinstar Depths, Icicle Mountain and Pokefloats. The rest are just a variety of platform based stages to me.
And from that, I have to ask, why Delfino Plaza doesn't count as complex when Mute City does?
Phoenix
07-08-2007, 01:26 AM
Delfino doesn't have cars rushing through it. It is dynamic, but hardly constantly on the move, and with no traps to our current knowledge.
I said most of the stages so far were basic, not all of them. I'd consider a "basic" stage to be either one that's just flat, or one that's flat with just a few static platforms. Fourside, for instance, is just a variety of platforms, as you say, but they're arranged completely unlike any other stage.
Phoenix
07-08-2007, 02:05 AM
And it has a little motion to it, but I would hardly call it a moving stage.
Yeah, even though it moves, the motion itself doesn't actually effect the gameplay. The base platform changes depending on where you are, but that's it.

Are you talking about Delfino? If so, I'd say that, pending further information, it looks to be more complex than Mute, though that's just my oppinion. Mute would stop and start, but the platform remained just a flat area, whereas Delfino's stops look like they'll be a lot different. In the end, I think it'll be closer to Pokemon Stadium than Mute City, which I always saw as the best complex stage in Melee.
Despite this, I do agree with the general point, it's just our definitions of complex are a bit different. But yes, I do want to see a bit more variety in the stages.

wel.....for starters, people....
HEs not going to show off the big guns in terms of way cool stages on the site.... you have to have some surprises for when the game actually comes out ....and so that unlocking them is actually a surprise....
remember..most of the complex stages were all the secret unlockable ones... also....my hope is that there are many more courses than there were in melee..... but I would be fine with the same amount...as long as its not less...
part of the reason I liked melee so much was becuase of how fun it was to continually unlcok new stages and characters....
I am actually getting kinda to the point where I no longer want to look at the daily updates becuase it partially ruining some of the surprise facter that I loved so much about melee.

I personally so far am pleased with the stages I am seeing. The only stage I think is mundane in creativity is Delfino plaza.
Also remember that Smash Bros. has gained a huge competitive competition following. In competition, the two big differences from the regular game and competitive game is (a) They do not use weapons, and (b) The only stages that are used are the basic three platform stage, and flat stage. This might be a reason why we may see a few more basic stages in Brawl.

They don't use items! WHAT?
Items are half of the skill in the game! Over at my place, Sbrother and I manipulate the items in ways that most players don't even dream of. Through use of clever short hopping and pressing the Z button in the air, we grab items on the move or catch them even as they are spawning onto a map.
Because of the skill it requires to get items quickly we set all items on, usually at the medium setting. One of my favorite items in the fan, mostly because it can't be reflected (not even by fox) and makes great for throwing, jumping, catching in the air, and throwing again.
Lately we have even been learning to catch by air dodge, so as to make hot-potatoeing Bobombs less risky. We also have been learning to reflect projectiles and attacks with our shields, which is hard....
Oh, and I know alot of people turn off the hammer because they think its cheap, but lately we've actually been avoiding picking up the thing. It makes you to vulnerable from beneath, and its really easy to shield grab. Plus, when you get knocked off the edge, you can't jump back. :)
yeah, people who play smash bros competitively are really retarded some times. i want to smack people sometimes when they ask to turn off items.
Mirai
07-09-2007, 09:16 AM
I agree with turning off items in competitive play, personally. It leaves far too much to luck.
Today's update is up. Take a look for yourself, but this is the first piece of news that actually has me a little worried... Though I'll trust in Sakurai's judgement.

One could argue that it also takes skill to manage the usage of items and to defend against them.
Phoenix
07-09-2007, 07:30 PM
But it leaves a bit too much to luck though. There's no way to make sure that both sides have equal luck with items.
Bsack
07-09-2007, 11:42 PM
I think items are what makes the games. I wouldn't play the game any other way. If people want to cry over items, then don't play against me.
Phoenix
07-09-2007, 11:44 PM
Items are great and all, but when you're in a competitive environment where the goal is to see who is the more skilled player, they just can't be there. There's too much luck involved. They're perfectly fine for normal play, of course.
Blaksmoke
07-09-2007, 11:46 PM
If I wanted to play a regular fighting game without items....I'd probably kill myself since I hate almost all fighting games. Playing without items is fine if you want to get serious, and it's not quite as bad as say, Mario Kart with just racing, but still.
Mirai
07-10-2007, 12:20 AM
Yeah, they're great for fun matches between mates. But when your playing for money, and that money is supposed to be going to the most skilled player, not the luckiest, your gonna feel pretty fucking jipped if your dominating a match until your opponent starts having Stars, Pokeballs, Heart Containers, Mines and Bobombs landing right beside him, while you get a Poison Mushroom.
When my friends and I play, we rarely have items on, even in our fun matches. Smash Bros is fun enough without them.
EDIT: HOLY FUCK IT'S DOCTOR WRIGHT!

My internet was screwed for a few days so I have a bit to catch up on:
-Items are cool and shouldn't be turned off. If you wanna have em off for a tournament then so be it, but 99% of the time the game is being played for fun (not skill) and luck doesnt play a huge part in the items. Its just adds another element of strategy because its not just close combat. (throwing things).
-And that guy is cool, I remember seeing him but Ive havnt played his game all too much. Still cool though.

silly zeep....did you not see the latest update....
its a new character....and one that nobody would have expected either...
Its actually kind of interesting, this new character is....
For one, hes not a Nintendo character.... he from Sim City.... this is the first non Nintendo mascot besides Solid Snake... I can't wait to see who else will show up.... but I do kind of wish that they were more secretive about the characters and levels.... you would think that the special non-nintendo characters would be saved as surprises.

Yeah, but it's an Assist Trophy character, not a playable character... besides he may as well be a Nintendo character since he only appeared in SimCity for the SNES.

At first I thought that he was going to be an actual character, but then I thought that couldn't be right, and sure enough it said that he's an Assist Trophy at the bottom.

It would be stupid to release it just after christmas, wouldn't it? I really hope (if its not released for chirstmas in Australia) that they don't push it back simply because they think it'll sell better in March/April/May than Jan/Feb.

Tom Nook is raccoon!Tom Nook is a tanuki, a small dog-like mammal that I believe lives in Japan. The same creature that the Super Mario Bros. 3 Tanooki suit is designed after. Since the Americans and Europeans would have never known what a tanuki is, they made him a raccoon in the translated text. Him being a caricatured anthropomorph, there was no way to tell the difference, so it worked out. That's also where the name "Tom Nook" comes from. It sounds like "tanuki."

I have a question to ask of you people....
For some reason.... I don't think any of the music they have shown is Orchestrated.... or ......is it?....
I thought that all the music was supposed to be.....right......
but why do these sample clips sounds like they were arranged on a computer.....maybe its just me....or they were all played by GOD musicians......... or I had crapy headphones.
If the music isn't Orchestrated I am going to be very bummed...I loved the music in Melee so much and it would be a shame if they didn't create music of the same quality level for Brawl.
Billet Proof

If I was Nintendo, I would employ Bach's corpse to compose.
SuperLuigiBros

^yeah.... I was just re-listening to it...and while it does sound prety darn good.....(actually better than I remembered while I was in italy)..... I stilll cant really tell if its orchestrated or not.....hmmmm....we have any music experts?

Generosity of God
07-16-2007, 10:24 AM
what i find interesting are the names that are associated with each piece of music.
Koji Kondo (Mario series/Zelda series) with Michiko Naruke (Wild Arms series) for "Zelda OoT Medley"
Kazumi Totaka (Yoshi series)with Masafumi Takada (killer 7/God Hand) for "Yoshi's Story ending"
Minako Hamano (Metroid Fusion) with Yusuke Takahama (Digital Pinball series) for "Metroid: Ridley Boss Fight"
Hajime Hirasawa* (Star Fox [SNES]) with Kenji Ito (Romancing Saga series/Culdcept Saga) for "Star Fox: Space Armada"
*note: Hajime Hirasawa was the composer for the original Star Fox on SNES but hasnt had anything to do with Nintendo since (as far as my short research has found). so either Sakurai has recruited Hirasawa for the game or has mixed up names with Hajime Wakai who's had part in the music for the Pikmin and Star Fox series.
it's just interesting to see which musical minds are working together. they get the people experienced with the pieces for composition and the people from the non-nintendo games for the arrangement. it could be the reason why the music so far sounds slightly different.
SuperLuigiBros
07-16-2007, 12:33 PM
Maybe they aren't working together. (Ill use the Zelda OoT Medley as an example):
Koji Kondo did the original Zelda songs, but Michiko Naruke took what Kondo did and created this new Medley. Thus, they 'both' worked on it.
But I have no reason to think that, and they wouldn't do that anyway.

But....as cube mentioned ...talk about odd timing...... the latest song update I believe is not midi....I mean..... I think, that is.
well..... I take that back... I re listened to it and it technically could be completely midi as well. ......meh...
well....maybe some of them will be and some wont...... becuase I know that "menu 1" is real orchestrated...right:

Deoxys is a legendary Pokémon from the GBA games that is extremely difficult to get and needs like a mall tournament or something. In my opinion, it's an incredibly lame Pokémon (as are most legendaries past Gold/Silver), but as far as Smash Bros. is concerned, more variety is better than not using uninspired Pokémon.
Lynk Former
07-17-2007, 02:36 PM
It'd be nice if Deoxys came out of the pokemon and it randomly chose on of his forms that affected the power and speed of his attack... like if you were lucky enough to encounter his defensive form, his attack would be slower and less powerful, but if you came up against his attack form his Hyper Beam would knock you out of the arena even if you had 0% damage. And his Speed form would attack so fast you wouldn't have time to do anything to get out of the way as soon as he comes out of his Pokeball... but none of that will happen cause they're not gonna put THAT much thought into it lol.

I wonder what is ZSS's Final smash?
and if someone really like playing has ZSS, but in tournament they turn off items, how will he access this playable persona?
And if you die as ZSS, will you comeback with your suit or not?
And for Kirby that means less chance of seeing him in ZSS form, unless there are other ways to be ZSS.
Like if you had the control to transform back and forth, but if you use the final smash, you lose that control until you re-spawn.

As a Samus player (NOT cosplayer, thank you Aaron), I like this announcement. For one, it adds another element of strategy to the Final Smash, because you should only use it when you're ready to transform into ZSS, and it seems likely you won't be able to transform back until you respawn. And tournament players who want Giga Bowser. I'm pretty sure Samus will not rely on her Zero Suit any more than the other characters will on their final smashes. It'll be fine.

Comparing Giga Bowser to Zero Suit Samus is a bit of a stretch. That's like saying it will leave out people who want to play as God. Giga Bowser is the his Final Smash - it increases his strength and defense, whereas Zero Suit Samus just changes her stats.
And fuck people who need items to win.

Oh, and Zero Suit Samus is today's update. Looks very similar to Sheik...
The only difference is the player can choose to use Shiek whever they want, if at all. But these guys have to use the final smash to get ZS Samus. What if they want to use ZS Samus, but their opponent keeps getting the Final Smash item? The problem, as ive already said, is that they cant choose who they want to use like you can with Sheik and Zelda.
Although, they don't actually have to use Samus to begin with so I dont think its too much of a problem.

When the mod of this section says fuck pretty much half of the readers of this thread, because they play with a different set of rules to him, I think something is shit out of order.
I was kidding. I just meant it to bring up the point that, as we discussed, playing with no Final Smashes would make it impossible to activate ZSS.

wow people..... just because you turn into Zero Suit Samus when you use the final smash doesn't mean you wont be able to transform any other way... ..it never said that....
I imagine that you just have to wait a little while....like sort of a re-charge time before you can manually switch back and forth. My guess (based on the fact that it has been stated in an earlier post that after you use a final smash...you experience a vulnerable period) that the sudden loss of her suit makes her more vulnerable for a slight moment before she is able to gain back full control.
I mean..jsut becuase it says...after she destoys her powersuit..blah blah blah.... doesn't mean that you can only do that with the final smahs is what I am getting at.
I just don't see how you wouldn't be able to switch back and forth..... that just wouldn't make sense to me... However, even if you couldn't.... the post also didn't say that you couldn't directly select Zero Suit Samus from the select screen either.
so don't fret y'all!
Phoenix
07-20-2007, 04:38 AM
I don't find that likely. How does she magically remove and replace her suit? Maybe, just maybe, you can select Zero Suit Samus as an individual character, but that's about all I can see.
Hylian-Advocate
07-20-2007, 06:35 AM
^well.... I just don't see how all the other characters can have there normal abilities return after they use final smash .....except not with Samus..... to me...that doesn't make any sense either....
also.....it doesn't make much sense to me to have this semi alternate character that you could only use when final smash items are turned on.....which is what everyone else was complaining about....
thats the only reason why I don't think that its the only way to get yourself into Zero Suit Samus mode.... it just doesn't make sense ./..sakurai has always tried to create an intricate sense of balance to his characters in past smashes and that wouldn't fall in line with the rest of the roster....
and I don't know why he would even bother putting her as a separate character in the websites roster of characters (a "newcomer" even) if you couldn't play as her intentionally without using a special item......
I guess, however...... that maybe if they really are designed as two separate characters....that this final smash item basically just switches you to an equally capable selectable character.....and you just have to know that if you use this item that you saying that you want to switch. ....which just seems weird...because it would be the only character/s that could do that..... hmmm ... I guess its not that weird.....meh....
I am really out of it from lack of sleep...hence the pointless rambling.... so I am done now...

They know nothing but fighting. Fighting is the sole reason for their existence.

^^Yeh, the clouds are just clouds. I can kinda see Bowser but its easy to see faces in things, especially if you are looking for them.
I think its pretty obvious that the ship belongs to Meta Knight. But I think from looking at the photos that this new mystery guy (who is totally awesome and now the background for my computer) is supposed to come out of the ship. So perhaps the story is all the bad guys verses all the good guys?
But then I guess the 'story' would work better if its everyone vs. mystery guy.

07-21-2007, 02:19 AM
The chances of Ridley are just a high as the chances as Sonic, Id say. But whether that be playable or unable (like Giga Boswer from Melee) is hard to say.
However, Star Wolf would be just as awesome, but his move set would be too similar to Fox or Falco. It would be awesome if he was an unlockable costume for Fox. Same moves, but different look.
Edit: It seems Dee Dubya has the same ideas as me for Star Wolf. But I think this new guy is a bad guy, come to screw things up. Maybe he's trying to turn everyone into trophies and its up to all the characters to fight him. Which would give everyone a reason to fight him.

07-21-2007, 02:20 AM
Ridley isn't humanoid or popular enough to be a likely playable character, but I would be authentically surprised if he isn't in the game at all. Wolf is cool and all, but I think they're going to avoid clones this time, and it'd be difficult to make him very different from Fox.

Im sure Falco's (and Fox's) Up+B move should counter it, and its not like we wont all be using Up+B moves to be getting back anyway. I am a little concerned, but I dont think itll be too bad. Sakurai hasnt given me reason to doubt so far. Plus there could be new techniques to counter it, too.
I can just imagine how satisfying itll be to jump on someone to get an item. Its like a double humiliation.

like you guys said...Sakurai directed the unbelievably great game that is Super Smash Bros. Melee and I don't think hes going to do something that would fatally flaw his great formula....
but you are right Dee Dub.....there is sure to be certain groups of people that drone on about additions they dislike.... that's an inevitable....
Also notice that in pits stage...in the movies...the platforms regenerate really really fast...and that you can actually walk on the colouds as well.... before the platform is solid again....odd.....
IEatFriedPikmin
07-27-2007, 03:57 AM
how come almost all the stages have similar set ups?
Hylian-Advocate
07-27-2007, 08:43 AM
you know....there has been lots of talk about that..... although.... personally... I think there is a lot more to some of them than it appears... maybe environmental things that affect the stages..... things that come and go or move hear and there.....
I mean on yoshi's island it says the main platform tilts back and foth and the helping platforms and shyguys pop in and out... and in smashville... I can't imagine that with all of those characters behind you that they would be there and not affect the gameplay at all....
plus....we know there are already some other prety cool ones...like the mario supercircuit (mario kart) level from the videos.... or the one that looks like a castle (I think one of the coolest looking so far as it has those most vaired looking platform setup) ..or the one that has those cool big statues that hold up the platforms (perhaps another pit level).... and you also see a bit of a snake level....which could have some cool espionage crazyness to it......we just haven't seem much of it yet..... and samus jumping in the moving while in the lylat cruise stage makes it almost look like the gravity might (maybe a bit unlikely) lessened for some floaty battles..... there is also metaknights stage that was in the first movie a lot...and it travels around through the sky and to different parts of that crazy looking space shuttle...
so really... I am not worried one bit.....
my guess is that every new character will have its own stage...or a few even.... and just think.... if pit is in the game.....who els might there be....and what stages will be made for them.... its all pretty exciting if you ask me.... I just hope Sakurai will let up a bit on showing some much before the game actually comes out....
although...perhaps that just means there is so much stuff....that he can reveal as much as hes already done so far and there stilll will be an uber amount left to discover while playing through the game (hopefully more than melee even)....
anyway...thats my two cents.

New Item: "Pitfall"
This item appeared in the game Animal Crossing. Bury it in the ground and it becomes a trap. If you love playing tricks on others, this item can’t be beat.
When you throw a Pitfall at the ground...
It vanishes!
When someone touches it, PLUNK!
Now’s your chance. You can’t help but grin.
Incidentally, it also has an effect if you simply hit someone with it instead of setting it in the ground.
If you get hit by a Pitfall, you’ll drop through pass-through floors!
Getting thoroughly fooled by a trap like this... It’s pretty humiliating.
Link (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/index.html)
.....sounds pretty cool actually... just think if there is a stage where there isn't anything below a pass-through platform......throw it at that somebody and down they go!..... or ....wait..... does it actually mean they just get stuck on the underside.... well...either way...if there was nothing below them....when they got unstuck....it would still mean look out below....
If the items they have been willing to show have been this interesting... I can't wait to play through and see them all.... the devs are getting quite creative.

Path of Radiance if 9. Sacred Stones is 8.
I am so excited for Ike, he was one of my favorite FE Lords. I totally expected him, though.

Ike's sword (I can't remember the name of it) is a lot shorter than it is in Path of Radiance, but whatever. It's cool he's in. I also just reserved this game and Mario Galaxy yesterday. :)

You betray Fire Emblem, I have no respect left for you Sam.Roy was just "lets save the kingdom, guys!" and little more, and is a pretty crappy unit if you exclude being able to use Sword of Seals. Although, maybe that's only because I read an amateur translation of the game when I played it.
Ike had more depth and is an overall awesome unit.
EDIT: Wait, is Ike in his commoner's garb but using the sword he gets when he's a Lord?

This is incredible irony.
Last night, I showed Tanner (Sikknot) the Dojo website, and we started speculating on characters. I told him, "Yeah, there probably won't be Marth or Roy. My guess is that they put Ike in the line-up."
Incredible.

Roy is the son of Eliwood, nuff said.
So Ike's dad was like super strong badass, Ike isnt... he didnt get married like most NORMAL STRAIGHT FE Guy characters. Hes too busy running around the country side as a non lord class with his merry men.

Eliwood > Roy, though.
Let's see Lyn, Ephraim or Hector in this game too, if they insist on purging the old FE SSB characters.

Lynn I wouldnt mind, but dont get rid of Marth I beg you Nintendo!!
Also since we are talkin FE, Roy not only takes on the role of General of the Alliances army, but defeats the King of Bern (cant remember name :() and beats the Dark Dragon.
Big deal for his dad, he beat one fairly strong dragon and Nergal (though Athos could handle it himself)
And the final ticket, Sword of Seals > Durandal.

Yes, but Roy's stats SUCK hard. He's got decent Luck, so he makes a pretty good decoy, and that's about all. Eliwood is actually useful before he gets his special sword.

I dont know about you but my Roy often Crit more then usual units (excluding Hereos and Swordmasters) I stuck the Killing Edge and let him go to town.
Ike without the Ragnell is nothing but a courageous sell sword, who had responsibility thrust on his shoulders, but at the time he wasnt ready and it took him awhile to learn his new role.
Roy with all his schooling and calm exterior made the better leader, plus he gets Lilena in the end. :-)
Edit: Thanks for the correction Pheonix, I didnt use her on my team, just for Support convos with Roy.

Nice update, though it was expected that Marth and Roy would be cut to make room for other Fire Emblem-ers, and I think it's the right thing to do.
Marth and Roy fans got to see them make their appearances already. As long as the character is pretty much the same to play (for people who are using them for the play style, not the character's history), then we may as well get to see a Ike and Lyn in their place. It just diversifies Smash Bros that little bit more...

again....you guys are assuming things that aren't actual facts....
sure it is very likely that one or two of Marth and Roy could be cut......but nobody knows that for sure...
Anyway... I think Ike looks pretty bad ass.....so I am not going to complain about his back story or anything like that...... I will reserve any judgments until after I see if he sucks or not..... as long as hes fun to play and till has the Fire-Emblem-Character-In-Smash-Bros-Game feel....then I will be happy.

and like a couple of people have said... as long as he plays well and retains that Marth and Roy type fell.....if Marth and Roy end up not being there....it shouldn't be too much of a loss.
Finally, the castle stage in the trailers has been confirmed as a fire emblem stage. "castle seige." it's not too big, but eventually the floor breaks and you all fall into the castle, and then later the floor breaks and you fall through into...?

I thought I was making my assumptions as though they're assumptions, but hey, silly me for thinking I could make an assumption. Good thing your here to put words in everyone's mouth though, otherwise we'd never get out what we mean...

gosh....everyone takes me so seriously..... in a negative way.
I wasn't actually really talking about you... however..... I was mostly agreeing with your second statement....
Additionally... I was just trying to make light of the fact that there is still hope for Marth and Roy fans......as their existence has not been announced......their non-existence hasn't been announced either.... sorry if what I was saying sounded rude.

Looks like a fairly neat stage, though I hope not all stages are so involved in the battle. There will be times when we'll want to play these stages, and others when we'll want to play something simple like Final Destination.

Sakurai's said that not all characters will be returning. I narrowed it down to any of (not all) Young Link(to be replaced by WW link), Pichu(generally unused), Game&Watch(novelty, though more likely to stay than others), Marth, or Roy(subject of debate).
"Sakurai has stated that he may not want to put much emphasis on Japan-only characters, but it has been noted that this may change due to the success that the Fire Emblem series characters enjoyed internationally thanks to their inclusion in Melee." - Wikipedia.

There really is no reason to cut both of them, in fact why the hell not have 3 Fire Emblem characters? We have like fifty-billion Mario characters for chrissake.
No Diddy or King K Rool for Donkey Kong who is on his own, Fox and Falco for team Starfox, 4 Zelda theme characters, Captain Falco is on his own, 4 Pokemon, Ness is on his own, GameWatch/Ice Climbers also on their own. And of course Snake.
Three FE's is quite fine, so I retain hope that neither Marth or Roy have been cut.

Diddy Kong didn't make the cut into this title? Did Waluigi make it? I haven't been keeping up with this game at all because I'm trying to stay away from being hyped up about it.
Phoenix

We don't know yet, and I hope to God Waluigi doesn't get in the game.
Mario and Pokémon are the two best selling series in the entire world; it's only natural that they get more characters than other series. I would like them to keep Marth and/or Roy and all, but not at the expense of good newcomers. Would you rather have Marth, Roy and Ike, or cut the two and have a more varied (read: fun) lineup of, say, Hector, Ike and Ephraim?
Shadow Voa
08-02-2007, 11:13 PM
C'mon Phoenix you should know me by now when its got Fire Emblem involved. I would take Roy and Marth over the rest easily.
Hector has an axe, Ike 2hander which is used with one hand, and Ephriam a lance. I mean other then new weapon combat that would be interesting... the characters were bland and easily forgotten (maybe not Ike).
FE6 was my favourite, followed by 7, 3, and then 9. Dont get me wrong Im going to play Ike as well, but I have to be honest it made me worry one of my other fav's had gotten the axe. As I said, three FE characters is more then fine and still leaves room to add Sonic and hopefully a Golden Sun character? Hehe.
Phoenix

Fire Emblem characters are moderately realistic, combat-wise. Their weapon of choice is the only significant difference between them when it comes to Smash Bros. There's only so many ways you can change up their moves to be unique without making them out of character if they all use swords.
7 > 6, in my opinion, although 6's data corrupting might have left a bad taste in my mouth. Seven just feels more... refined, though.
Shadow Voa
08-02-2007, 11:20 PM
You know the critical animations they use in all FE games? I wouldnt even mind if they used the same sort of style and transfer that to performable moves for the player.
Aether is a good idea of what Im talking about, though its not going to heal Ike (maybe?) but it still isnt copying Marth or Roy and making him unique which is great.
PS - My next theme is going to be Fire Emblem so you can say goodbye to the RJ Phoenix hahaha.
Phoenix
08-02-2007, 11:23 PM
Aether is going to be his finishing move, I'm pretty sure. But when you're excluding the big stuff, they are basically just "use swords to make the stuff go dead." They can't be all critical animations.
Awesome. Go with FE very soon please.

Isaac would make me piss my pants. :susp:
Shadowvoa, As for the FE guys... There are so many people who use Roy and Marth that they'll either keep at least one of them in the game, or Ike will be so similar that you wont have to worry about the other being cut. Or theres another FE (or even just another character with a sword) who wields a sword. As far as gameplay goes you needn't worry. But character wise you should prepare yourself for the worst. Which isn't actually that bad since FE characters have actually been included again, so you should be happy.
The stage is awesome. That last bit left me in far too much suspense. Damn you Sakurai! ...in the best way possible...
Edit: I hope King Dedede isn't in it. In fact, Id bet he isnt in it since he's so big and all. Plus theyve got enough Kirby characters.

Its simple enough that I just like Marth and Roy over Ike. But youre right Im prepared for the worst, if my two characters I use are cut Im going to use Ike. Simple as that, but Id rather that not be the case so I remain optimistic that I will get 3 FE characters and not Ike and maybe someone else.

I don't see Marth and Roy's skill sets disappearing from the game. They are far too popular with both casuals and hardcore players, so I don't see them being left behind. They'll just get a face lift if anything.
I don't see any more than two Fire Emblemites, though three is a distinct possibility. I just don't think the franchise has the weight though.
Golden Sun is getting your hopes up, as cool as it would be.

Here's a question:
If Nintendo (or whoever stated) that clone characters wouldn't be in the Brawl, wouldn't that mean Roy would be cut due to the fact that he just a stronger version of Marth?
not if he was made into his own unique character.
