Another PS3 FPS!!!! Chronicles of Riddick

Ok, the title is a semi joke, the title is coming to the PS3 and 360.

The reason it's a joke is because Chronicles of Riddick was a very highly acclaimed title, although I cannot attest to it personally because I've never played it, I've always wanted to see what the fuss was about.

So here's hoping the next one will be really cool.

A next gen redux of the splendid Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay is underway with developers Starbreeze finally confirming Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena which is due to debut on Xbox 360 and PS3 before the end of this year.

Dark Athena will be more than a simple port of the original game though, which went great guns in its original Xbox incarnation and really put Starbreeze on the development map. Dark Athena will apparently boast an additional 40 per cent single-player content set on board the scavenger ship Dark Athena. What that means we can only guess, but it certainly sounds intriguing and it looks like some kind of assault will be in order.


However word is one of the main attractions of Dark Athena will be a superb multiplayer mode, with visceral hand-to-hand combat and shiny shiv action featuring heavily if it follows the course of the original game.

I always loathed the XBOX for having that game. Now I don't have to care anymore cuz it's gonna be played to death on my PS3 (once I get it).

well.. it's all about balance ..not too many (Xbox/X360) not way too few (PS2)

we for sure want/need good FPSs games , but it must don't sinking PS3 with , there must be Platform , JRPG , all kind of sport , free roming driving and all other genres ..just like PS2/PSX

these days many devs shift to FPSs cus it sell like crazy and easy to make ( thanks to UE3 ) ..and if the market want that..hell why not ..we still have japanese dev and SCEWWS to make other genres for PS3 ..:stirpot:

it is one of the best looking games on past consoles. it and Doom 3 stood over everything. but the game has way too much talking. you have to talk your way into everything and through everything. it is like a hentai game.
but once you finally get a weapon in your hand, it is fun.

I don't care to re-play this one- nor Doom for that matter. why can't they make something new or a sequel?

PS. Tigon is making a Wheelman game based on the movie. the trailer sucked so much I lost any hope for the whole studio...

Well, this game does have a reputation for being sweet, so, I might get it, despite it being another FPS. IF it's so great, why not, right?

Ya. The game was easily one of my favorites from last gen as well. Extremely well made.

It was good, no doubt, but it was just ridiculously short. I mean, I played it thru in about half a day (on pc that is).

I guess it's possible to go through in 12-14 hours. I play maybe 1-3 hours at a time, so it took me about a week to get through. Then I went back and listened to a bunch of the developer commentary which was several more hours.

I found the game very compelling since you had to do more than just shoot baddies in long corridors and behind boxes. I really liked it at the time, and would consider a purchase for PS3 if they do a good job.

Nothing compares to System Shock II though. Damn, I wish they could remake that one! :thumbl: The game came out in '99, it still has a fanbase and it's on my harddrive right now. Crazy when I think about it. :crazy:
