I got into the Imperial City but guards keep attacking and killing me all the time.
What should I do ? I heard there is no way you can complete this game. :hurt:
Obviously you can complete the game, its an rpg. It just takes a REALLY long time.
If guards are attacking you, you must have done something to piss them off. We obviously have no idea what that something is, but I'm sure theres a way to reverse it.

Actually I didn't piss them, you start as a prisoner and you obviously were put in jail for a reason. I'm on a mission and I need to find Barius but every time I enter the city the guards find me and ask to go back to jail or oppose them.

you probably committed a crime. Go to jail (or pay the fine), serve your time and then continue on.

Yeah when youre in the beginning of the game the jail is not sooo worse.
Afaik you can learn some things there to open locked stuff.^^

You probably stole something (don't pick things up if your little hand turns red) or accidentally killed someone. Check your "bounty" level on the accomplishments page. The wide berth that your sword makes when you attack means that sometimes allies get in the way and can be killed. Early in the game you won't have spells to heal them, so it's best to save before going on a mission where there are allies... Hell, just save often anyway to two different save files. It'll prevent a big headache if you screw up and save afterwords. I messed up at one of the mine missions and had to hear strangers tell me, "I heard that thing at Sago mine went poorly. The fighter's guild lost some members" for a few days until I could accomplish something significant to give them something else to say ("Hail, Champion!")...
It's too bad you want the game to end. I've got to be over a hundred hours in (does it tell you anywhere?) and I never want it to end. I've completed the main quest and the Knights of the Nine, and now I'm wrapping up the Mages Guild and Fighters Guild stuff... This is right up there as one of my favorite games of all time. It's all I've played since the game's release.

Are the guards simply attacking you or are they trying to take you to jail??

Creative is correct you more than likely commited a crime and if you just let them arrest you things will calm down... Another approach is to complete some of the side quest, because I have seen local guards decide to cut you a break, because you accomplished a great deed for their town... (Like closing an Oblivion Gate...) The main quest takes about 80 hours if you are simply trying to complete the main quest. If you decide to accomplish the side missions and quest it will take over 300 hours!

I doubt the main quest takes 80 hours, hell with plenty of dicking around I clocked out at around 50 - 60 (That is Dark Brotherhood **Entire Mission Line** , Some Mage, Fighters Guild Stuff as well)

The main quest doesn't take very long at all, if you were to do everything in the game, who knows.....
Try walking up to a guard, block and talk to them, they should talk you then, and if they don't then they may be bugged, I know it happens in the PC version.

Main quest for me was about 8-9 hours running straight through. Im still playing the game after a year and have absolutely no idea where Im at as far as percent done. I would say I have about 200 hours in the initial released game and about 30-40 in the expansions.

I stopped playing the main story cause it bored me to tears. Dark Brotherhood sidequests were the best part of oblivion for me.

I would like to know if someone here owns both The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and number 4 (Oblivion). I ask this because I don't have Oblivion and would have bought it already if I didn't own No3. Morrowind is the most boring game I have ever owned aside from Metroid prime and Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Is it somewhat like Morrowind in it's vagueness and repetitiveness?
Sorry for the long post, but I've been dying to ask someone and this seems like the right time

Its morrowind with better graphics. Though the sidequests in oblivion are a bit better.

What's the best abilities to level with?
I have a warrior with stealth abilities? Is that good enough to complete the Dark brother hood sidequest? I heard it's the best one...

I was a Thief, with a bow and I did fine. You don't really need much stealth to finish the dark brotherhood sidequests but it does help.

I hated Morrowind and like Oblivion, but when you get down to it they are, for the most part, the same game, Oblivion just does almost everything better.

If you really want to know.....
You get a Dark Brotherhood Murderer who follows you around with 100% camouflage and aids you in battle for the rest of the game. Not to mention 200 gold a week for the rest of the game. Good times.

hmm...I've been playing for like 6 or 7hrs and it's already beginning to bore me.
Not to bash the game because I see how you can spend so much time with it and get sucked in, but the free-roaming thing just doesn't do it for me:shrug:
It's funny because I can easily spend 60-70 hrs in a game like Disgaea basically doing the same thing over again, but when I wanted to progress in story, it's right there...
I dunno, I guess I just need more narrative in my games.
Certainly just one of those games that's not for me though, It's should haven't definitely received the scores it's garnered. It is a great accomplishment on many different levels.

i found a bug in a sidequest(the one where 2 female robbers invites you at their home and you have to put all of your things off,but some stuffs are related to other quests so u can't throw 'em out and you remain stucked :/)....i hope they will release a patch or something to fix those things..

I would have had more fun with cave if I wasn't a bow wielding thief. Bows were severely underpowered in that game.
