Whenever I try to download a video of some sort to my PS3 by using the PS3's own browser, that message seems to appear. Why? :( VG posted a few videos there which are "PS3 Compliant" but they don't seem to work.

Perhaps I should fiddle with something in the settings to come up with a solution?

Thank guys.

It must be in a zip file.

^^ There was an issue with the file, because I could not download the link to my PC. I successfully downloaded the file so give it another try from your PS3 or if you have a large jump drive or PSP memory card download the file to your PC and transfer to your PS3. (That's what I did.)

yeah, ps3 doesn't really like mp4 file by the look of it.. or avi.
Download to pc, and shoot em over

Yeah, apparently you can only download them to an external storage device connected to the PS3 if you're using its web browser. Weird

I just streamed both trailers from a USB drive and they played like a dream. Perfect quality.

If it's not a type of media that can be played on the XMB it gives you the option of storing it on external media. If it can't play it, it don't wanna know about it.

It's useful, you can get your PS3 to download stuff onto flash drives for later viewing and stuff.

Not all .mp4 files are playable on the PS3, like not all avi files are playable on your PC without a separate codec.

well..since I use PS3 Red Kawa File Server ...here da thing ..

sometime the spaces in the file name like ( Fats bananas.mp4 ) causes this problem , if you change it to ( Fatsbananas.mp4 ) or (fats_bananas.mp4 ) then you can download the file to the HDD .

somtimes it's cuz the .mp4 are in capital letters (.MP4) for some funky reasons PS3 can't let big (.MP4) to enter to da HDD when i rename it to (.mp4) it's all fine .

but since you use PS3's browser there is no Solution now ( well till they fix it on FW ) ....if you want to put the stuff that won't downloaded directly to your PS3 HDD just use PS3 Red Kawa File Server (via XMB browser) for now ..

it's not in the xmb, its a downloadable file for pc.

It's a server, which you download from through the ps3 browser

it's an PC app , after you instal it on your PC it will ask you to open your XMB browser (just a one page ) and then you will can download any or every Photo/video/music file from your PC to your PS3 HDD via the XMB browser

Redkawa owns, and that's final. Everything is free, it works, and it's regularly updated.

I found the file restrictions annoying.. beacuse i was too lazy to set them up
plus, downloading regularly gave me an error page

So Abyss web server it is

I personally had the same problems with the red kawa server.

I now use a simple http server from sourceforge (i am an OSS guy you know) called httpsv. Simple to set up and works like a charm
