I personally never been too big on multi-player, say for driving and sport games.

I've always been more interested in getting involved in a good story.
I also just prefer to relax, lay back and play on my own with as small interruptions as possible.

So what are your views on multi-player games (I'm talking both two player and online)?

I like multiplayer in fighting, racing, sports, and shooters, any thing else I would rather have a good single player. And I love MMO's.

Halo multiplayer = hawtness.
Warcraft III multiplayer = hawtness.

That's all I multiplayer (:P lol @ that sentence hahahha)

But seriously, some games are just made to exist with multiplayer, and amazing multiplayer at that.

Multiplayer, awesome fun with buddies round, really lame online with strangers.

But I had some good times playing Team Fortress years ago as a sniper, sniping the same guys in the head over and over again as they took the same route over and over again. Take the fricking stairs already. Almost puked myself laughing. *pop* head shot.

But you know, you move on.

I like both. Single player modes and multiplayer modes are no problem for me---as long as the game is good.

Considering I spent a lot of time by myself while growing up (being an only child and all), I played a lot of videogames. I loved the single player experience. I remember spending countless hours on one game and no one would be around to bother me. The experience was just awesome. Blast some music, drink some soda, and game for about 10 hours. It was great.
It try recreating that experience now-a-days, but it's rather hard. I still enjoy me some good solo-play, though.
I'm all for multiplayer, as long as its fun. I can get a bit out of hand online (Not by useless cursing, but how loud and obnoxious I get) but I still have a blast. I don't care if its just random people online or some good friends playing with me---its all good, for the most part. Random people online can be a hassle, though, if they aren't making the social experience to multiplayer any fun. Or if they're complete noobs. I always like talking and cracking jokes in MP games. It's just how I am.

So yeah, I love spending 50 hours and an enthralling, single-player experience but I love the craziness the multiplayer games spawn.

I am a fan of in-person co-op multiplayer. I really like teamwork and accomplishing a goal together while having fun.

I'm a fan of multiplayer in all forms...

Altho I would also like a nice single player story mode aswell...

For me you have to strike a balance between the two to make a truely great game. Equaly think out the story mode and multiplayer modes.

That is why I find games like unreal and CS only fun for a limited ammout of time... The single player is non-exsistant.

I love playing sports games and Super smash with people but other than that, not really a multiplayer guy.

I love stories as well, like KotOR and MGS

Having three brothers makes liking multiplayer games kind of mandatory for me.

I like multiplayer, as long as it doesn't include multiple players.
I mean, playing with and against my friends is fun, especially when they are of a comparable skill level to me.
But I don't enjoy playing against strangers.
With is still good though.
Well, whenever it's Capture The Flag games, I don't really play "with" people.
I tend to do my own thing most of the time, and just run after the flag and run back.
Also, strangers are usually much better than I am, and constantly losing get boring after a while.
(Except when it's in CS:Source. I'm not sure why.)

I love co-operative games though.
You get the predetermined structure of singleplayer, with the fun of a joint experience.
It's like a buddy-action film.
Two heads are better than one.
Double the pleasure, triple the fun.

Also, Smash Bros. is better with other people because it's such a fun in-game environment.

You're a pansy.

Lol! j/k j/k

I honestly like playing the same way, in person is so fun with coop, but the shame is I only know very few people who play games very often, so it sucks for me :(

Last coop game I played.... was like a long time ago lol.... GTA SA 2 player mode, quite awesome actually. GTA SA is one hell of a technical achievement, I'm still amazing they could even pull a 2 player mode off and even the singleplayer with all that freaking content and detail.

^Ya, often times playing against strangers is not that fun. There's the excitement of online and other people and totally randomness and different situations all the time, but it's hard to cooperate with strangers unless you are lucky enough to find people who are equally willing to cooperate which is quite rare. Maybe 1 out of 5 times I played BF2 with random people I would meet just 1 other person who knew how to play reasonably good in a squad, quite embarassing lol. Always got to go with the people you know.

Which brings me to another fantasmic story courtesy of the King of Curry. I met some really good players on Swat 4 once, so we started playing together in online matches and started using Ventrilo (voice chat). And it was freaking wicked, we were coordinating and stuff, and the best thing was these guys were mature people who weren't stupid 3 year olds and they knew simple concepts of teamwork, so it was cool stuff. We won lots of matches against random people (it's fun when you are coordinated and the other team is not at all lol!) and also started a clan and we really whooped ass because we played enough together to know our tendencies. That was certainly my best online experience.

I think multiplayer games can be very annoying, so I hardly ever play multiplayer modes. I like playing with friends, but I'm not really comfortable with strangers.

I normally just play single-player, even on stuff with extensive multiplayer functionality. I never did play Halo or Halo 2 online, for example. The only stuff I ever really played much online were Blizzard games; Diablo, Diablo 2 (a little), and World of Warcraft (too much). I got my 360 back at launch in 2005, and had a brand new cable to run to it to get it online, but never got around to it for fully a year, and then still have yet to play a single mutliplayer game on Xbox Live.

I can understand people's enjoyment with online play, but I just don't do it much.

It really seems that for most the only thing that will even remotely entice people to play games online is if they, well, know people to play with online.

Definitely an obstacle, I think gaming companies should really prioritize making meeting other gamers online.

It's almost like it's best to meet other gamers outside of a game, no? Like in lobbies or forums by chatting and stuff.

i used to play halo online, which was kindof annoying, but fun.
now i play gears of war, and it's the shit. especially power-sniping the crap out of peoples' heads. people always call me annoying because i fragtag, but anyways....

i have three brothers, and so play pretty much every kind of game with someone else. certain fighting games are fun, like mortal kombat and soulcalibur. racing games aren't too fun with someone else, shooters are awesome, smash bros. is awesome, and the guy game isn't as fun as you'd think.

Split-Screen Multiplayer? Axe it. I would prefer never to see it again in most cases.

Online? As much as possible. Nothing adds to the replay value of something like online.

The best online experences I've had have been in Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomrorow, when the Spy Merc multiplayer was still new and, well, good, and ESPN NBA 2K5.

I think part of the fun is playing together with people. I don't always want to have to find a friend with the same console, same game, and online service. I want to be able to invite them over and chill together on the couch and play. One TV, one console, one game.

I don't play too many multi-player games now days, most of my friends quit gaming. Last game we really played 4 player was FF:CC. It was a pain finding four of those GC-GBA cables. It was a lot of fun, though a bit disturbing to see a bunch of 22-26 year old males staying up in the wee hours of the morning talking about Crystal Caravans and fire spells...

Now everyone I know plays Warcrack..the bastards.
