Well about December some time after I bought my ps3 I bought a 1080p (d62) Aquos. It had a dead pixel and I took it back (on my last day of coverage) and they gave me a brand new set, which unfortunately had major banding. So I went back and demanded my money back and they said how about you wait until you see a set you like and keep the d62 for the time being.
Knowing that Iam basically getting a free set to use at my leisure so I agreed to his deal. The price finally came down to where I wanted it too on the d82 and I finally switched sets. So far I love this set, although it has banding as well, it is soo minimal that Im perfectly happy with it.

(^^ this pic is crappy but it was a perfect shot of the beheading ^^)
Im going to paint my DVR, silver sucks.
I prefer the flat look of the bottom rather than the curved edge on the d62, same with the silver speakers on the bottom.

Thanks, it's Chappell's season 2. I watched all the Arrested Development episodes on HDCBC though (cant remember how many seasons, I think the first 3). I might buy it if they release it on blu ray.

Good looking set. I strongly suggest Planet Earth on BR, its far and beyond the most impressive thing I have seen in documentary/cinema.

I almost bought it from Future Shop but is it worth $88 (CAN), like how long is the total running time and how many seasons. I guess I could try to get it online.

I got mine from Amazon.com and it arrived in good time. It is approx. 11-12 hours on 4 BR disks. I would say the "Freshwater" segment is by far the best. There is about 3 segments on each disk (maybe only 2 on the last disk IIRC) and each segment is about an hour give or take. 88 Can would be about right as it cost me around 70 usd.
It is a visual masterpiece and if you do have the funds I strongly suggest you purchase it (currently everything else pales in comparison on a visual scale). Crank and Kingdom of Heaven are also very well done.
-Although I think I prefer Sinn. Oc. as the narrator.

What do you mean, when you say Banding? Please explain in layman so I'll keep a lookout for this thing to not be in my purchase of an LCD. Thnx

Thanks I think I may wait to see if blockbuster carries it, they just started not too long ago renting blu ray and hddvds. I have Crank and really liked it. I think I prefer the 2:35.1 (not letterbox), which Crank had.

I was going to go for the xbr3 but after a long side by side where I could tweak both to my liking I decided on the Sharp, I wish I couldve got the D92 with 3000:1 native contrast but FUTURE SHOP doesnt and wont carry it. So I got a step down but it still has 120hz conversion and the has a contrast ratio of (2000:1) which is better than the xbr3 (1300:1 native), also the response time of 4ms on the my d82 pwns the 8ms response time of the xbr3 (thier best lcd). I still like the look and its a great tv but Iam 100% sold on the Aquos series.
Plus Ill probably be getting a new set once the next tech comes out in a few years.

Banding is when the panel is showing vertical or horizontal lines or bars on the screen over every image displayed. It's different in all sets and some can be way worse than others. Some sets have no banding at all. Banding happens to all manufacturers but it was very widespread in the Aquos panels, this is beleived to be a result of the brand new manufacturing facility in Kameyama that Sharp built and produced most models of the Aquos sets. Sony had bad clouding and samsung had bad motion blur and sharp has the banding plague, each has their own issues. That is when you're talking about LCD's. I like DLP's and almost got the Sammy, I love the look of that beast.
This was the banding on my set, most people that had banding had it worse than this.

If you focus on the pic and then move your browser cursor up and down it really stands out. It bothered the hell out of me during certain scenes.

Planet Earth on BD is fucking great. I just got Pirates of The Caribbean 2 today, looks awesome too.

I seriously agree. I have never been so amazed since...well, the last BBC documentary I saw. Planet Earth is fantastic beyond descriptions. the footage they've managed to finally get, then angles..oh God this is nature at its best!
yet another BBC effort that makes you say "I'd like to see them top THAT off!"

Painted my DVR black, I couldn't stand the silver any longer. I like the outcome but I think I need some sort of logo/sticker.

Last pic is awesome.
I recommend going through the trailer (if you havent a 100 times already) again at slow mo, a lot of stuff that goes by unnoticed at first glance. The lighting in some parts is just life like.

Nice setup! That's the same tv that I've settled on getting, now all I need is the money.
I think you caught a ghost in one of your pictures. It's in the 2nd new screen on the bottom left corner on the box. See the eyes and the face?

Nice TV!
I've got a Sharp 42XD1E which I think is the European equivalent to the D62 and it's stunning. I had heard a few mixed things about the PQ in Planet Earth, but maybe I should check it out.

Thanks men, I do see that face, looks like a knot in the wood.
