i don't think it's the exclusive game since it's a tie in to a movie that is going to be released soon. those type of games are never exclusive.

Gr8 news but my only concern is are Ubi gonna have enough time to polish the game in time with the movie release or are we gonna be dissapointed like we were with spiderman 3? Then again King Kong wasn't a bad game at all with its movie tie in. I also must add im loving the artistic design for this game.

The art direction and character design so far has me unenthused. The concept art looks sweet (I mean aside from the nakedness, it's very nice), but beowulf looks like shit on a design level. to me. Is this the exclusive ubisoft game or are we speculating? The website with the press release is in french, and I don't feel like deciphering it.

Guys i don't think Angelina jolie and Anthony Hopkins would sign up for a crappy movie and Zemeckis is a half decent director. The game will probably be gothic in nature and really scary. Grendel is supposed to be a really hideous looking beast and his mother also. Beowulf is suposed to be half demon ( His father is the lord of darkness who seduced his mother) and half human. To make himself feel human he hunts evil reasoning that this will keep the evil in him inside him. This game could probably play along the line of something like Devil May Cry but even more gothic and violent.

Zemeckis is definitely a good director, but this story is butchering the Anglo-Saxon classic :'(

I wasn't having a go at your explanation of the story, I'm mad at the story itself -- it's nothing like the actual Beowulf tale.

:lol: Beowulf is the oldest story we had from Anglo Saxons. It was a big influence on Tolkien for Lord of the Rings and he's the reason why we study Beowulf. Until he started saying it was literature worth reading, nobody gave it a second look.

Just for interest though my explanation wasn't from the upcoming movie but a movie made about 4 years starring Christopher Lambert and Rhona Mitra that was more action orientated. I tried to read the story of Beowulf once but i couldn't understand a thing. I think the story is open to a little interpretation because there were many different translations for Beowulf.

In conclusion i dunno about the game but my hopes are high for the movie especially if Anthony Hopkins is in it cause he hardly ever chooses bad movie roles.

But yes I too find it weird that a SONY Pictures movie would spawn exclusive Playstation games, it would be a first... well there was something about MIB for PS2. But apart from that and the extra Spidy 3 content for PS3.

Yeah, the movie Beowulf & Grendel with Gerard Butler (Leonidas in 300) was average at best too... it was missing a lot of the great elements the original Beowulf had, and for some reason people feel the need to twist the tale around a whole bunch. It's great as it is! I'd love to see somebody do a true interpretation of it that would do the literature justice... but it doesn't look like that's ever gonna happen.

Dont know that movie, but I have a disctinct taste for movies though. Most stuff in the cinema or on tv just doesnt cut it for me. Not even close.

The last movie I was in a cinema, was april 2005, when Sin City finally made it to Germanland (though I watched the non dubbed version).


Really, from the top of my head, I dont know a single movie, where Jolie was a main character, that was even REMOTELY good. TR was one of the worst movies ever to be made, this scales to the likes of Alone in the Dark or HotD.

I mean, did you see Hackers? This one was so bad, it was beginning to get good^^ Mr & Ms Smith? Come on... And the rest... lets just not talk about these PoS.

I think you guys get confused about Sony movies to game adaptations e.g Spiderman is a Marvel comics property so they probably sold the rights of the game to Activsion and the rights to the movie to Sony and probably the same goes for Beowulf ( Although i dunno who would have the rights for this).

VonGak Zemeckis is a good director but not the best for me Martin Scorsese FTW and im pretty sure James Cameron has grossed more also but still the point i was trying to make is that the movie will be good with these ppl on board.

As for Jolie shes been in some cool movies i thought Hackers, Mr & Mrs Smith and beyond borders were pretty good and i mean comon could any of us take our eyes off of her in Tomb Raider even if the movies weren't so gr8:)

Blood Diamond is sweet. Also watch for the parallels between Leonardo DiCaprio's character (which he does great as) and Raiden. I noticed them but maybe that's just me :-p
