So a while ago i got the YP-K3 mp3 player from samsung, works great, but i get problems with vista, and only vista.

The device says its connected but i don't see it in explorer, i checked out device manager, and its there with an exclamation. The error code is 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)'

I googled that, and was told to uninstall my USB controller in device settings, i did it, and it worked for roughly a minute and a half, at which point the device dsissapeared and we were back at stage one

any help folks?

I would look for Vista drivers for the device. 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)' most likely indicates a problem with the driver.

I am guessing Windows detects it as a mass storage device? And not specifically an audio device?

Vista recognises it as the device itself, I.E in device manager, it shows up as YP-K3, under portable devices.

There are apparently no drivers for this, or atleast so the samsung website would lead me to believe

*slam*

Why vista? WHY!?

*slam* *slam* *slam*

At this rate, I will give it another year until this half-baked Microsoft loaf is more like bread.

As of current, I will not be of help other than I will inquire you as to why you did not stick to XP on that machine to explore linunx?!

Vista, is XP with lipstick and additional hardware issues in the way of torching direct software and hardware access though OS layers.

Yep, exactly NukeBlaze. This is why I uninstalled Vista from my mother's laptop. She got upset at all the strange inconsistencies and such.

But you may want to keep Vista so we'll try to troubleshoot it:

I would try plugging it into an XP computer and see if it shows up as a new drive in Explorer. If it does, then it obviously is plug and play and should work on Vista.

Something else: can you go into the Drivers tab in the Device Manager and tell me what info you see there?

I have XP and vista, and there are no linux drivers for my wireless card, and PC's are useless without internet :P

Well i did infact find the problem which is a problem called LibUSB. It's needed to use my ps3 controller on the PC, so i thought, hey let's update it. I did, and now neither my PS3 controller or my MP3 work, unless i need a reboot.

but for now, there you go..

Maybe LibUSB is causing problems with your USB devices? I would try removing that.

yeah see, im just trying to figure out a workaround, because i can't use my controller without it, but can't use my mp3 with it

List your motherboard make model. If that is not available, note the manufacture of your PC if from a BigBox company and the model.
