If you haven’t noticed recently, WWE has banned the shooting star press and the 450 press. Paul London did a shooting star plancha at a recent show and was told by McMahon if he tried it again, he would fire him on the spot.

Last week during an interview with SkySports WWE World Champion Edge said he would have liked to have been a leader of a stable. He said that he would have liked to of had Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch under him. With his move to SmackDown, it doesn’t appear this will be happening anytime soon unless the Roster Draft permits.

WWE officials are said to be very disappointed with the buy rates for this year’s Backlash pay-per-view. More-than-likely the event did more buys than last year’s but far fewer than most three-branded pay-per-views. The official numbers are not yet in.

The tri-branded roster draft (http://forums.e-mpire.com/showthread.php?t=73992) is going to help make Edge's dream come true.

Wow they banned the shooting star press? That is one of the coolest finishing moves in wrestling. I am glad I no longer watch WWF.

WWE.....not WWF.

WWF was 10x's better than today's WWE.

I am yet to see any real proof of that statement, about banning the moves. Just take that as it is.. but I bet it is true.. because of it being such a "risque" move.

They banned the shooting star press and 450 splash in august of 2005. London through a fit over that and he was in the dog house for 4-5 months.

He argued with Vince, about that making him wrestle the heavyweight style in short matches, won't get him over. Vince said he has to be entertaining and make everyone like his gimmick. London told him, that he didn't have any mic time to do that in the first place. Basically the next day London lost the crusierweight championship on Velocity, and was in the dog house. But finally was given a chance with Brain for the tag team back in April 2006 (still have yet to have mic time by the way).

Anyways, London had not done the SSP since then. However, has done a standing shooting star press, but doesn't get in trouble with that. That is dumb logic, but yeah. Especially that they let others do crazier things, and I have yet to see London mess up the SSP.

Why are these moves banned?

Reading the above..

London threw a fit?

I want to find a source to confirm this. That is bad reporting from whatever site you go it from, and why general reporters are considered as jokes. COMPLETE speculation.

Why are these moves banned?

they can be pretty dangerous to the person you are doing it on, London isn't likel to fuck up and hurt himself...Bob Holly broke his arm when Juvi did a 450 on him didn't he?

I know Hardcore Holly broke his hand when Kurt Angle did a Moonsault on him.

that was it, Juvi knocked someone out with the 450, cant for the life of me remember who it was

Wikipedia says:
The ending of the match saw Juventud perform the 450 Splash on London for the win, but landing his knee into London's face and almost injuring him in the process. This abruptly changed plans for the Great American Bash pay per view where Juventud was supposed to challenge London for the title, however London ended up wrestling on Sunday Night Heat.

As a result of the number of injuries it was reported that WWE management told their cruiserweight stars to tone down their high flying nature, banning both the 450 splash and the shooting star press. London, who used the shooting star on July 30, 2005 in a Velocity match with Nunzio, was told afterwards not to use the move anymore, and to come up with a new finisher. He was the one injured by a 450° splash before the decision was made to ban the move. He was said to be notably upset, and even went to Vince McMahon to air his views[citation needed]. Some claim as a form of punishment, London went on to lose the WWE Cruiserweight Title on August 6, 2005 on the next edition of Velocity to Nunzio and then deliver a heel promo afterwards claiming he was cheated.

Which, in my opinion, doesn't mean that he was punished or any of the sort. Could he have been.. yes. Could it have been WWE's plans before?

Yes.

ScratchedAt, think about it. London lost the championship on Velocity. That sounds like punishment to me. Then he didn't win a match until December... London is my favorite wrestler, so I payed attention to the wrestling newletters I would get in the mail (Pwtorch, is one of the most respected wrestling news source). And there were detailed notes on London and Vince's argument, and basically said, he was in the dog house. It was still a mystery on why he wasn't fired. Maybe, they were scared he would go to TNA.
