I am going to start work on my own game, in the styles of castlevania. Though I have discovered i suck at sprites. I would even be happy with like current sprites with a differnt color. But I too suck at changing the color of existing sprites.
Probably don't need monsters, just characters if anyone can give me that, a belmont, and maybe backgrounds if you want to try that.

The problem with something like this is that it takes an immense amount of time, talent, and dedication to make a good sprite sheet. My advice? Use some that are lying around from another game, thats the best (and probably only) answer to this situation.
I still remember when I would spend 10-12 hours at a time on a sprite comic just to finish up one single strip. It's fucking hard as hell, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, but playing God makes it worth it.

Id love to help but I dont have the time. :(
I made like 4 sprites of a cool robot of mine. They were totally sweet, but not what youre looking for. Also, there are only 4... not really enough for a full game. :(

Well thanks guys. I think i'm going to use existing sprites kind of as placeholders for now if i can get something in the future i will use that, if not oh well.

I made a game in Visual Basic as a highschool assignment once. But I'm guessing this is quite a lot more complicated lol. All I did was make pictures of a few animations for battles, like using a few for using magic, a few for moving around, a few for attacking and stuff (my main character was Cloud! except I named him something really awkward like Blue-pants-long-hair man).
If I knew how to I guess, I'd be interested in helping, I'm not exactly very busy right now. A few summer school courses is a lot less intense than I thought it would be lol.

You should use already made sprites and just make small modifications, like colors or something. That way it looks different and you feel like it's your own but you don't have to go through making it all yourself.
I've been editting sprites since 2002.
Of course, I've done nothing drastic. I've mostly just editted sprites from Neo Geo Pocket Color fighting games. Unfortunately, most of my collection was deleted when my computer got raped. Alas, I haven't ventured too far away from NGPC sprites, so Castlevania might be a bit out of my league. Recoloring probably wouldn't be too hard...just a bit time consuming considering the amount of recoloring that has to be done.
