March 19, 2003 - Nintendo of America today announced the official US release date for the upcoming GameCube sports title Mario Golf. The game is set to hits American retail shelves on July 28.
Mario Golf, developed by Camelot Software Planning out of Japan, is the sequel of sorts to the hit N64 game of the same name. First screenshots of the title premiered mid-last year and while few concrete details have surfaced since, rumors abound allege that the developer has given the game a makeover that should impress fans of the franchise. It will of course be fully playable at the forthcoming Electronics Entertainment Expo, where IGNcube will have full impressions.

Meanwhile, Nintendo also reiterated the real US release dates for both Wario World and F-Zero GC, both of which have recently been rescheduled several times for different debut periods. According to the company, Wario World will definitely arrive on June 23 and F-Zero on August 25. Readers would be wise to mark their calendars now.

Damn Nintendo! Now there's 4 games I want from June-August. I hope Mario Golf features more tournaments and courses.

The game is heping fill out the genre spectrum. Gamecube could use an interesting sports title or two. "But Paladin," I hear someone saying, "what about all the other sports titles for Gamecube?" Simple: they are all boring to some folks like myself. People like myself find sports to be rather dull and boring, so Mario comes along and makes the mundane more interesting. Screw Tiger Woods, I'll take Mario.

I'm with you. I have never liked any of those realistic sports games. They're so boring. Mario sports games are nearly the only sports games I'll consider buying; except for some of the extreme sports like THP4, 1080, or something like that.
