Cartoon Network New Media Unveils Innovative Browser Application Extending Games Distribution to Gaming Consoles (http://home.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/index.jsp?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20070611005944&newsLang=en)
“MEGA Series” Developed with the AFI Digital Content Lab
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cartoon Network New Media is expanding its games distribution to videogame consoles through an innovative browser application developed at AFI’s Digital Content Lab. Launching in late 2007 to early 2008, the new multi-platform window called “MEGA Series” delivers an interactive video and gaming experience to broadband-enabled consoles. Additionally, the application can be adapted for distribution to a broad array of devices. Cartoon Network is the first television network to use Flash to uniquely reach the massive console audience.
Compatible with PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) and Wii, MEGA Series may be delivered via the broadband connection of each console and is accessible through the device’s Internet browser, which both use custom Flash players from Adobe. MEGA Series programming will be based on Cartoon Network and Adult Swim shows. MEGA Series content is designed to be played simultaneously with streaming video and delivered episodically over time, providing a real-time immersive experience for fans.
“Developing applications like MEGA Series is an important complement to our existing online and mobile businesses and a part of Cartoon Network’s digital growth strategy,” said Paul Condolora, senior vice president and general manager of Cartoon Network New Media. “Not only does MEGA Series extend our reach, but more importantly provides an opportunity to offer a unique content and user experience for our audience.”
“AFI’s Digital Lab provided a fantastic collaborative environment to explore cutting-edge technologies that further our businesses and reach new audiences,” said Ross Cox, senior director of entertainment products, Cartoon Network New Media. “We’d like to think our efforts effectively demonstrate how the console browser can be utilized as a new distribution platform.”
“The MEGA Series breakthrough is exactly the type of innovation that the AFI Digital Content Lab has fostered for the last nine years,” said Lisa Osborne, supervising producer of the AFI Digital Content Lab. “When we recruited Sony, Georgia Tech, Dreamsocket, Beyond Z, The Barbarian Group and others to be on the same R&D team, we were hoping they'd develop a cutting-edge entertainment concept, and they certainly surpassed our expectations. Creating a product that runs on both a PS3 and a PC truly fulfilled the 'build once, broadcast everywhere' goal that the team set out to accomplish. It's gratifying to see Cartoon Network use their Lab project as a springboard to launch a new product.”
“The AFI Digital Content Lab encourages the type of creative thinking and collaboration that is imperative to help propel Flash development in the future,” said Bill Perry, manager of developer relations for mobile and devices at Adobe. “The development of the MEGA Series application is a great example of pushing technology to create even more robust entertainment experiences that reach consumers across a wide range of supported devices, including the Sony PS3 and Nintendo’s Wii console.”
The MEGA Series is a custom application accessible through a console browser and a PC browser. Once the application is built, the interface will be customized for the Flash capabilities of each distribution platform—including PC, PS3 or mobile phone—creating a unique, video-on-demand and gaming experience.

Class of 3000 ranks up there with the stupid crap... like Cow and Chicken, Courage, and Ed, Edd, and Eddy.
You've got mostly crap now.. but Foster's, Ben 10, and some of the anime are ok. Adult swim mostly sucks now.

Yes, and I absolutely hate it. It's the same shit over and over again and it never end seriously...the anime actually ends with no closure to anything. The manga is still on going (well over 500 releases) and still shows absolutely no sign of ending the story.
When it comes to the service itself, I guess it's nice and all, but the only thing I will use it for is the Boondocks and Family Guy (maybe Aqua Teen). There are no good cartoons on television anymore to pass the time.
I'm not gonna lie though, if they allow access to older content then I would kill for some Courage, Megas XLR, and Dexter episodes (three of my favorite cartoons to ever appear on CN).

Whoa!! Courage doesn't come on anymore? What happened to Dexter and Powerpuff girls? OHH=-o Remember those short little skit cartoons that were like 3-5 minutes a piece? Cartoon Cartoons I think..good times...
I would think Inuyasha would have ended after he began to fight Naraku and stuff...Had potential to be a really good story too. I always thought Inuyasha would end up dying and going to the after life or something with kikiyo...I dunno, maybe a final fight between him Sessoshamaru and his father...man, I'm bummed out it sucks now:cry2:
forgive my spelling with the names;)

Nope, the creators of Inuyasha just don't know how to conclude a story. There's no variety in any of it either. The manga is even worse, so I just gave up on the series.
Now that you reminded me though, I did really enjoy the Cartoon Cartoons segments.
I know that CN has a relationship with the WB, so I really wouldn't mind all of the old shows I watched when I was a kid. Let's see: Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Freakazoid, Earthworm Jim, Hysteria, C Bear and Jamal, Wayne Head, Bobby's World, and Eek the Cat (ohhhh, such fond memories :)).
what about sealab 2021 and spaceghost show ?! i liked these. aren't they there anymore ?

Yea, Inuyasha the anime ended pretty crappy from what I heard. The only shows, and anime in particular that is worth watching on CN now, really adult swim is Blood+ and Bleach. If I could watch Bleach on my Wii, I would be one happy gamer ^_^

Inu Yasha gets credit for one thing though. And that's simultaneously being action-packed and boring at the same time.
"Yeah they're fighting, but...I don't fucking care."

I agree with you when it comes to Blood+. It's a pretty cool anime and I love the music for it.
I'm still surprised to this day that the Bleach anime has decent voice acting in America (especially since Naruto's is terrible and they are produced by the same company).

Why is cartoon network here so terrible.
We have Naruto but it's on fox kids.
For a while we had CNX which was amazing. It was like adult swim. Had outlaw star and cowboy beebop, asian action movies fighting. Anything you could want. Then they turned it into toonami and slowly got rid of all the good stuff and just recently they turned it into cartoon network too which is just rubbish.
Blood+ could never make it to TV here.
If this lets me watch American TV I will be amazed.
I only watch cartoon network for the grim adventures of billy and mandy and courage which for some stupid reason comes on at 12:35am.
I'm suprised that its on cartoon network though. It could give you nightmares - Le Quack is a scary dude
Raitei

ah, i remember CNX. back when the only really showed anime on that.
But then they constantly tried to appeal to a younger market, got rid of the live action movies, adult swim, and all of the good oldies (it's not like they even finished showing them)
Then they started with shows like pokemon, justice league and sutff.
Recently they just pretty much merged the channel with cartoon network shows, now it's CN Too.
When did cartoons begin to suck?

I'll give you my satellite connection if you give me yours, Johnny Bravo and Flintstones is ~65% of what they send here.

The problem with Inuyasha is that it is a good show with WAY too much filler. Its like Naruto on crack, meth, ex, and every other illegal substance when it comes to fillers and Naruto is bad.

The real problem with Inuyasha and Naruto is that they're both too successful for their own good. Neither Aniplex or Sunrise can't afford to stop to stop making them, hence the filler.

Yea, i started watching it dubbed but it really wasn't that bad, Johnny Yong Bosche is a DECENT voice actor, and the rest of the cast is pretty good. Everyone hates Naruto's dubbing but well, I don't know I have mixed feelings. For most of the people it seems a little off but I think Naruto's voice is good. He is SUPPOSED to be obnoxious and annoying, and they achieved that perfectly haha. I think the problem with American dubbing is two things:
1) American's saying all the Japanese names just sounds awkward
2) Unlike Japanese culture, we don't go around screaming and acting crazy in our cartoons so for the American voice actors it is very strange sounding and just seems BAD

It's so retarded, I can't believe my ears. It's not even the same show in japanese. For one, Naruto, while still a clumsy idiot (in the beginning) isn't a huge fucking tool.
Watching the american dub makes me feel so bad like I have to watch it in the corner of a darkened room where no one will find out. It's terrible.

Damn, It's scary to see someone do the same thing as I do....
By the way, who here reads the Naruto mangas? I have to admit that I was never a huge fan of reading mangas until Bleach and Naruto, but boy are they good.
Has anyone else read about the supposed plot leak for Naruto? The rumors seem so accurate that I find it hard not to believe.

Anyway, it's so much better when the plot is revealed to you by watching the episodes. But if you can't resist, like I couldn't, u can get a nice summary of the Shippuden episodes from Wikipedia...I found this to be good. Because you have the gist of the story, but the details and emotional parts are still a surprise when you watch the actual show.
Watching the manga however really gives you a good understand of each episode in full, I don't like it...

I know a guy in his 30s who spends every evening with his missus smoking dope and watching Cartoon Network, he's a policeman actually.
Keep bumping into him in the supermarket. Can't say I like the man. A bit lightweight in every sense of the word.
All Anime dubbed into English sucks.

To each his own though, whatever helps the man get by. lol
Anyways, I do wonder how the game content will pan out? Adult Swim did have this funny flash game I checked a while ago (out of sheer curiosity) called, "5 Minutes to Kill Yourself" (I believe that was what it was called anyways). The title sounds freaky as hell but the game is extremely funny. The story revolves around your character working a dead end office job and and suddenly hitting his breaking point one day. You basically go around the office building and find the worst was to kill your character in 5 minutes.
