First it gets announced for next-gen consoles early on.

Then it gets cancelled.

Then rumours come out that it's in the works.

My take on it is that we WILL see it but SEGA is getting more practice with the hardware as they probably realised they couldn't pull off a game like Shenmue3 with their current knowledge of the technology.

I'm still sure it won't be as good as the first two but still, Shenmue is Shenmue.

I just had this sudden gut feeling and excitement for Shenmue3.
Maybe at E3?

Shenmue 1 and 2 are still my favourite games of all time and it's shame that after the cliff-hanger that was Shenmue2, it just disappeared and it's hard to believe SEGA just forgot about it or abandoned it.

So what do you guys think?

It was announced and got cancelled? Really? Lol, I didn't know.

I would think maybe they want to keep the franchise for later? If it were me I might've postponed the project because Shenmue is a game of major detail apparently, and to do one on the next gen systems would take a lot of work.

I think we'll see it near the middle or end of this gen.

I really dont know, Shenmue has really gained a cult like following (as it should because the first 2 titles were great). But the sales have been poor and with Sega's recent batting average I would be concerned about the quality of the next title.

If we do see another Shenmue I expect they would make the title considerably more mainstream and guaranteed multi-plat..

It saddens me that I've missed out on Shenmue on the Dreamcast, and it's the sole reason I'm looking to purchase a Dreamcast at some point. It looked like one of those few "very special" games that you'll always remember (Think FF7, MGS etc.).

I'd love to see a third, even though I have no idea of the story proceeding it (For now at least), but I'd expect it to be released on the 360 if that was the case.

It would be a reason for me to pick up a 360 again, but ideally, I'd love to see it on the PS3.

I'd love to see a Wii Version, using the Wii remote & nunchuck would be cool.
