I just purchased a new HP computer this past week with Vista Home Premium. My main issue right now has to do with networking. I have four computers on my work group at home, all running either XP Home or Pro. I joined the work group with my Vista computer. However, I cannot map the drives on those computers (they are shared and I'm able to map drives between the other computers). I installed the LTTD update (I think thats what its called on one of the XP machines). Here what I see when I go to view map. I can see the computer, but its not clickable. I also don't see it on the normal screen when I go to map drives.

However, I'm able to use Remote Desktop Connection with them, and when I go to network places on those machines I can see my Vista computer, but I'm not able to access it (public folder sharing is checked under the Network and Sharing tab and I enabled sharing the C drive as well).

Any ideas on how I can map drives on the other computers in my work group or access those computers besides using remote desktop connections?

I should also note I'm able to do the easy transfer.

I hate networking with Vista, or even XP for that matter. So you're best chance is to wait for Funk.

My sugguestion is that you go back one by one and make sure permissions are A-OK; double check everything, make sure certain check boxes are checked when needed.

No, don't wait for me, I hate networking in general, windows is a pain to network, and i haven't touched vista for ages since it screwed up my partition tables MULTIPLE TIMES OVER!

But saying that, after reading it again, I believe it's a problem with your permissions on the vista or xp machine, or the shared settings of the folder/drive itself.
