MI6.co.uk has reported that Marc Forster, a German-born director known for character-driven movies like Monster's Ball, Finding Neverland, and Stranger than Fiction, will be helming the newest Bond film. Other contenders for the project included Terminator 3 director Jonathan Mostow and Alex Proyas, known for eccentric movies like The Crow, Dark City, and I, Robot. Daniel Craig will be back as 007. Production is scheduled to begin in January with a release date of November 2008.
I like the choice of Forster, although I think Proyas would have been a better selection because he knows how to mesh action and character about as well as anyone. All the same, Forster should be a fine choice for the new Bond movie.
