Let's see 'em boys/girls (potentially )
If Sony's Killzone 2 invite is anything to go by, they're already pulling back to swing hard at this E3 and I don't think they're messing around. They know they have a lot to prove in certain respects (like every company does E3-time, but Sony moreso to the gaming press & public for various reasons), but they also know they have a lot to offer and this is their chance to really come out and shine.
I want to see a new firmware announced -- 2.00 would be great but is probably simply wishful thinking -- something that gives us features we've been wanting for awhile and things that we weren't even asking for that they've been working on behind the scenes. In-game XMB access/messaging, music playlists, the ability to let people see what music you're playing (personally something I'd like to see), some reworking on the store (not really firmware related but w/e), and more.
Also I'm eager as hell to see the PS Eye, and I think E3's going to be its big time to show off what kind of tech. Richard Marks & co. have been working on. We've only seen a glimpse of what that baby can do, and even after E3 I'm sure it'll get more use and exposure over the years, but I want to see something that will just make me go "DAMN!" out loud as I look at the videos courtesy of E-Mpire :-D
Rumble. Need I say more? We know they're working on something and I'll honestly be kinda disappointed if it isn't some kind of new rumble system or something more inventive than vibration my cell phone's capable of doing. The price better be right here too, which I think it will. Color me excited for announcements related to this.
PS2 announcements -- this isn't that important to me, but I think some PS2 love will go a long way with consumers still and that's not too hard to imagine. Syphon Filter Dark Mirror is nice to see on PS2 but something bigger/more original than a PSP port would be great :-D
HOME. Gotta see more, I just GOTTA! Considering it's free, even the smallest cool things here will go a long way.
Games!!! Of course it's all about the games and Sony's got a lot to show this E3: R&C Future, Killzone 2, LBP, Uncharted, Lair, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Singstar, Folklore, Gran Turismo, God of War: Chains of Olympus, and more! Hopefully they've got some sweet surprise titles, because as good as their lineup is right now, we all love pleasant surprises :-D SOCOM 4 would be BIG news, as would a new game from Team Ico. Great thing about Sony is they've got games coming from damn near every direction at'cha!!
PSP stuff! I'm not banking on a redesigned PSP (I like mine as-is and don't want to see this gorgeous new PSP I'll end up having to get lest I be out of style), but I want to see some more games for it coming from Sony, and maybe Sony can get into some 3rd party PSP games and exploit the hardware more for some nice results in various applications. Remote Play is a big deal and they can take that even further.
And lastly -- RELEASE DATES. I can't stress that enough -- we need REAL timeframes here and we've been waiting a long time for them. 2007 can easily be PS3's year, but it won't if this shit never comes out. Hazy release dates and months we might be able to get it (if we're lucky) have really worn down we PS3 owners, and it's our time to bask in PS3's amazing-looking lineup!
Anybody else want to add/remove/change to this list? Let's see what y'all want :-D
