To say that the visuals of this game have changed drastically would be an understatement. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DUCK???
nice find. I am still excited for this game. it will do to me what Eyetoy did when I first played it. :)
PS. it goes without saying that Sony will be doing more on the concept. Play-France announced two new PSN games camera-related. it would also be great to have something like Eyetoy: Chat on PSN. something to just chat and play simple games while you are at it would be nice.
another sure purchase for me this year. :)

Sharper or not there's still quite obviously impressive effects and visuals in them.
It doesn't have to be crystal clear to discern that. I mean come on.

Obviously, it's not going to look photorealistic. But for a cartoony look, it's pretty good.

How about I spin this into a new light.
If you can already discern impressive effects form blurry pictures. Think of how much better they would look if they were direct-feed?
I mean the details are there even if they are slightly blurry. I could look at a blurry pick of the Killzone E3 footage any day and still know that the image is damn impressive. (I just had to do it for kicks).
Anyways, I wonder how complex this card game will turn out. I'm not a huge fan in the least of card battle games. I hope that Eye of Judgment will change that.

I think this is one of the most innovative and ingenious ways to sell the new PSEye.
I just hope they advertise the damn game right. Let people know what he game is about and how innovative it actually is.

Lol, I think they were commenting on the graphic quality of the arenas themselves, Cliff, not the quality of the jpg's themselves.
They definitely have taken a sharp turn for the better.

I will master this game, and then beat everyone in this forum in a Yu-Gi-Oh esque type battle, complete with the over emphasis on the cards I place, and the moves I am about to preform. :-p
Seriously tho, I don't really care about the graphics of this game, I just want to play it!

Once you look beyond the blurryness of those pics, you'll know what it'll look like while playing this game. And to me it's not a game about graphics it's more the innovation about this game. It just makes me think about the Yu-Gi-Oh series where the animals actually come to life the same way it's shown in this game.

ye, then you've got Singstar and interactive screensavers. online chat will be a selling point too and of course Sony's version of YouTube. they are going to get PSEye to everyone for one reason or another. kids first for that winge factor, and then once father sees online play and mother see Singstar... can't wait!

Eye of Judgment: Interview - New Online, Card , Gameplay Details
In an interview with Aurélien Poma, Community Manager at SCEE, he has revealed more details about upcoming playstation 3 exclusive board game, Eye of judgment.
- Eye of Judgment is only played against the artificial intelligence or two players in duel. The game proceeds on in a zone of 3 fields by 3. The goal is to control 5 fields out of the 9 by calling upon creatures there.
-Each creature has a type of attack detailed on the card in the form of grids of actions (Attack ,Defend, Move). More details are on the cards.
- When a creature is called upon, it attacks automatically once. Later on in the game, you will be able to attack again with this creature by reactivating it, which will have a cost of mana.Avery large creature will not be able to attack several turns because of the cost of reactivation it.
- If an unfavourable creature is destroyed, the invoker of this creature withdraws the chart of the play and receives 1 point of mana. That also gives an additional strategic aspect to the play because to destroy a creature of your adversary and to give him a point of mana are not always a good thing.
- Certain creatures attack in several directions simultaneously, it is necessary to pay attention very well so you will not be attacked.
-Many information on each card - the power of attack, the type of attack, the life, the element, the invocation, activation, description, the weak point, counters it attack, the standard, the scarcity and more.
- Monsters gain bonuses depending on the field they are called upon. A “fire” element creature will gain 2 points of life if it is called upon on a “fire” field . On the Contrary, on a field “water” it will lose 2 points of life.
Certain creatures cannot be called upon on a type of precise field. It will be automatically destroyed in the event of summoning it.
- Each player has a deck of 30 cards and 5 cards in hand at the beginning of each. With each turn, the player picks a card from deck. If you have more than 7 cards in hand, you will have to sacrifice one of it.
- There are three types of cards in the play: creatures, fates and cards of actions provided in all decks.
The creatures are divided into 5 categories: Fire, Water, Ground, Forest and Mechanics.
The fates of them are divided into 4 parts: Ritual, Conspiracy, Sorcery and Domination
- The game can be played without the use of the SIXAXIS
- 114 Creatures as of now : 90 creatures, 20 fates and 4 cards of actions.
- 5 types cards which are differentiated by a small logo on the card
Getting a card with a Black logo is Common
Getting a card with a White logo is not very common
Getting a card with a Money is very Rare
Getting Any other color is Ultra rare.
There are special cards that will be available but no details were giving during the interview.
- Online battles will be one on one via the playstation store. Each player selects a territory in which he duels to defend. You are awarded points if successful and vice versa if you loose.

Sounds/Looks like its coming along nicely....I'm curious as to how big a hit this game is gonna be.
I expect it to be a slow starter. something like Eyetoy or the initial SIngStar. I say it'll start off normally or even underwhelmingly, but as word spreads, more and more will get into it.
Viper

I agree. It's more of a foot-in-the-door game. A sequel or subsequent games of good quality will get the sales really going.

Inside the Developers Studio: Felice Standifer

1. What game do you have at E3 this year?
The Eye of Judgment
2. Tell us more about your game. What’s the story? What did you do on this game that you couldn’t do on another platform?
First, it uses the next-generation USB camera for PS3, the PlayStation Eye. We’ve combined the camera and real, collectable trading cards, created by Hasbro and its Wizards of the Coast (WotC) subsidiary, to create a completely new concept in trading card games. As you know, Hasbro and WotC are known for the development of Magic: The Gathering, so we’re bringing that heritage to PS3. It is a key component and adds a third dimension to the trading card game genre by materializing animated 3D creatures on screen.
The Eye of Judgment is a tough game to describe, but really a fun game to play, as it is a whole new means of interaction within the trading card genre of games. The cards are embedded with a Cybercode that only PlayStation Eye can read, and once you lay them down on the battle mat the characters come to live and battle in really cool animations on the screen. One major benefit of playing this type of game on PS3 is that you don’t have to count all of the gaming components up when you play your cards; the PS3 does it for you and gives you visual prompts such as when to remove a card or how many cards you should have in your hand.
3. What do you think is the coolest aspect of this game?
The coolest aspect of the game is the utilization of the PLAYSTATION Network to play others online. We are focused on a global launch of this title, so you can challenge players from all over the world, it’s really exciting.
I also like watching the card image come to life and battle against the other creatures. It takes a little bit to learn, but once you do, it is a blast. There will be over 100 different cards available with the booster packs, so you never know what creature is going to be coming at you. You’ll soon know what I mean when I say my Infernal Sciondar Dragon crushed your Verzar Foot Soldier!
4. What game do you most want an hour to sit in front of yourself (besides your own)?
Buzz!……”Party Time”, I’ll probably get most of the answers wrong, but its lots of fun to play with your friends. It’s my kind of game to just sit back and have a good time with, but it brings out my competitive side!
5. How many E3’s does E3 2007 mark for you?
Let’s just say I’ve been there since E3 started and before that I was working the Sony booth at CES.
6. Describe the pre-2007 E3 experience in five words or less.
Breeze, cake walk, relaxing..HA!!!
7. Most over used phrase or expression during E3 season.
This title or that title is the Game of the Year!
8. You are asked to make suggestions for an E3 survival kit- what three items HAVE to be included?
Energy Bar, water and a masseuse. If not a masseuse. I always have Advil in my pocket during the show as well.
9. What advice would you have for someone who has never experienced E3?
Wear comfortable shoes and get as much rest as possible before E3 starts, because once it’s going it’s non-stop for 4 days straight!
10. What’s your favorite part about developing games for a living?
My favorite part about developing games is hearing comments from fans. The folks who read this blog. We take them into consideration when making the next project, and it’s really nice to know you’ve delivered something to the public that they enjoy playing.

Octorber 25, 2007

- PLAYSTATION Eye

It is a little pricey IMO. I think it will miss the market of those who would buy the game just for the camera. I will definitely wait for another game bundle or buy the camera separately.

Are we forgetting that a direct conversion of the Japanese Yen to any other currency doesn't determine the actual price when it does go on sale in Europe or America? This will be priced effectively for each country's economy.

Either way, when people say--why is that game $80 bucks and they realize it comes with a PSEye that does even more than just Eye of Judgment, I doubt it will be hard to sell..
If Singstar is released with PSEye I'm getting that bundle though, but really $80 bucks is not a lot as long as people know what's in it the box. Marketing baby...
