I believe that the design of the characters belongs to the artists and there is no reason to dictate to them how they should design the characters that are their creation. If boobs never were a show stopper for anyone from buying the game then their was no reason to complain in the first place.

The breasts of the female characters in every Soul game were large. That is just the way they want to design them.

It's not the like the men in the game are depicted accurately either. We may not see characters with physical make-ups like these in real life, but no one ever said Soul Caliber was trying to imitate real life (though there are a few instances of people in the world who naturally carry excessive physical attributes whether breasts, over muscular builds, or being just overly pretty).

I'll personally rue the day developers start depicting women with pancake butts and extremely small curves to please the masses if they didn't want them to look that way in the first place.

Personally I don't think it has bearing on the game in general but I am against any sort of unnecessary censorship be it violence or otherwise. Let the person watching make the decision on what they want in their entertainment. Japan doesn't really allow blood in a lot of their games if you are fighting humans and I am not a big fan of that either. Rate it what it should be, but don't fuck with the content.

Expecting them to take care of other worldly cultures that are not Japanese and don't prefer women with extra baggage is more or less, realistic. But then again, who's to stopping US developers from making men look like they injected steroids directly into their biceps and calves at the same time? The story revolves on both sides. Which is ironic IMO.

I don't care eitherway. Gears of War was a great game. So is MGS4 and so will be SC4. Steroid biceps/calves(Gears), Glutes(MGS) or boobs(SC4). I don't give a flying fcuk TBH. Let's see a great game already!

After seeing people bitch about the appearance of Vader's hidden apprentice in SC4, I feel the need to reiterate this basic truth: SoulCalibur is about exactly 3 things:

'err....maybe I'm buggin', but um--this just...looks like Soul Calibur 3. Only with better character models. I waited awhile before looking at any recent footage, but damn. Even the animations are the same, nearly frame for frame.

Can someone explain the "balance" problems SC3 had.

I thought SC3 was underwhelming for other reasons but I never noticed the balance problems I keep hearing about.

First off, there's the Variable Cancel glitch, which enable a couple moves from a couple characters to lose recovery time on their moves (if timed right). It also enabled you to get advantage if you get GI'd - both big no no's.

Then there was the character balancing, which was really fucked up.

SC3:AE fixed both problems.

I hated the fact you could get advantage from being GI'd. In SC2, I would always be guard impacting everything, but in SC3, I couldn't because a good player would put me in a disadvantage.

Namco Bandai's Soulcalibur IV may be known for massive volumes in some aspects of its design, but a rumored 6.5GB hard drive installation for the PlayStation 3 version is not the sort of bloat that sits well with gamers. Add to that an alleged 2GB save file and PS3 owners with a measly 20GB would have had to do some serious housecleaning in between grumbling sessions. Love how ridiculous some of these rumors get and people still believe them without question. Here is a new one, R2 requires a RAID10 setup with a minimum of 250gb HD's to just even think about turning on. Save files? There aren't any, you have to beat the game in one sitting.

Just tried the game at an entertainment expo.
it's kinda slower than SC3 and looks close to SC2.
The game is visually really nice, but the demo featured intense jaggies.
There were no slowdowns to see. Mitsurugi, Hilde and Siegfried were the only playable characters of this early version.

SC2 on the Dreamcast?


Well...The first one was called Soul Edge on psone and then the second one was called Soul Calibur which was on Dreamcast, so in away it could be unofficially called SC2 I guess. Then they obviously went on with the Soul Calibur name to this very day as the next one coming out is SC4, but it's actually the fifth game of the series.

The original Soul Edge was absolutely brilliant IMO and then Soul Calibur (the Dreamcast game) was like a perfected version of the first one making it the best fighting game I have ever played so far and the graphics of that game were insane back when it released... SC4 is a day one purchase for me. I hope they have been able to evolve other aspects of the game than visuals as well this time, because I feel like the game was "perfected" already back in the days of Dreamcast...

My brother is playing through story mode with Mitsurugi right now. It seems the game plays a lot like a the previous games, but with it not being as fast.

It is good that the Japanese voices are included. I have no clue what half of the new shit means (like style levels? are they the same thing as SC2 levels?), but I'll figure that out soon enough.

I didn't like it much. But after getting used to the speed and figuring out some shit, it has grown on me. I'd recommend it for fans of the SC series, or fans of 3D fighting games in general.
