It has been a while since we heard anything from Activision's Soldier of Fortune franchise, but that is all about to change. Making its first appearance since Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix back in 2002, SoF: Pay Back will also make its next-gen console debut. Whether Raven Soft will once again make limbs fly all over our screen was not revealed, so hopefully more will become clear in a few weeks time at E3. As it stands now, Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back is scheduled for a November release, but that is most likely to change (thanks Robert).

Hell yeah.

See this is one of those games where I don't care it's an FPS because it's fucking crazy.

Limbs come off, legs get ripped apart, eyeballs pop-out.

Hmmm...*calls Jack Thompson*

Annnnnd the disappointment sets in, looks like Activision shoveled this game off to its budget value developers, which can mean only one thing, the game will look and play like utter garbage.

from ign:http://ps3.ign.com/articles/800/800047p1.html
------------------------------------------------------------
The long-dormant, ultra-violent first-person shooter (FPS) Soldier of Fortune is returning to the front lines, Activision confirmed to IGN today. The publisher was mum on any details about gameplay, platforms, or release dates, and would only say that the sequel is currently in development at its Minneapolis office, Activision Value. Value is the publisher's budget title development studio, responsible for games like Pimp My Ride, Barbie, and Cabela's African Safari.

WTF is this shit?

whatever man as long as bodies are ripping into 5000 pieces, i couldn't care less how crappy it looks or plays.

SF1 and 2 wasn't exactly a fiest on the eye or the....hand (gameplay) either.

SF1:

SF2:

But then again, all you need is this to make the game look good:

This game is like a military version of Postal.
Postal was shit at everything but it was fun because of it's no moral, no boundaries kind of violence.

WTF is this shit?

WTF is right. I thought this would be one of their bigger franchises to hand it over to Barbie makers...

in any case, like masteratt said, if it at least got good mutilation, that would be SoF. but the thing is, that might not be enough for this day and age. with any shooter, the first question for many gamers is; online?
I don't think a 'budget' game (aka cheap ass) can afford much in most directions including the signature mutilation one. we'll see.

I loved sof II. Twas a real great game. Twas the game that MGS 2 should've been. In my opinion. And I don't give a damn about all the gore either.

The game reminds me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. They should let you shoot a dudes arms and legs off until he's just there hopping up and down going "Come on then!".

Ahhh, happy days....
