Record of Agarest War Strikes PS3
Idea Factory, Red Entertainment and Compile Heart to work on a new RPG for the PS3.
By Yoshi Sato, 06/27/2007
This week's Weekly Famitsu magazine has revealed a new RPG for the PS3 titled Record of Agarest War. The game is a collaboration project between Idea Factory, Red Entertainment and Compile Heart that handle game system, script and publishing respectively.

This fantasy-oriented simulation RPG features characters which will take place across five generations. The game's world will also features five different continents and players will venture one continent at a time as each generation is born. The main hero will be succeeded by the next, though its abilities and attributes will depend on which heroine the player chooses as his partner.

As for the battle system, players will enter into the battle phase when reaching "battle points" in the field map. Like most simulation RPGs, it will use squared grid system and battles will be turn-based.

Importers can check out Record of Agarest War scheduled for a September 27 release in Japan.

what kind of RPG is it? I don't know what a 'simulation' RPG means. I want to know if it is a classical style RPG (sprites, 2D, simplistic presentation) or a 3D one.

i think disgaea-ish (think that's how you spell it), a good game by the way.

Yeeeeeeeessss!!

Bring on the JRPGs. The more the merrier. Idea Factory hasn't produced the greatest SRPGs in the past, but who knows - maybe this collaboration will work out for the better. :thumbl:

Thanks for the info!

Edit: Reading slightly more into the quote; it sounds like to me it's going to be in volumes, like the .hack// series. Either that or maybe it'll be sold on the PSN.

I'd say it's a generational RPG. You make babies in-game. Those babies go-on to make more babies n progress the story. Who then make more babies, n their babies are born. 5 continents means 5 times the generational phun and game mechanics, I tell ya. Not to mention, timeline n possibly 5th generation into the future while the very 1st one back in the caves or shit.

Wow, seems like a good idea. A first I believe, eh?

did you know that Peter Molyneux (the creator of Fable) said that they could/thought off/I was drunk/something like that you could impregnate a women in the game and she will give birth to your digital child? or something to that effect.

but your idea of breeding generations is intriguing. I had a thought of a Matrix strategy game. maybe SimCity/Civilization/The Sims could entertain the idea. :)

see, Yoshaw, you are a genius even when you don't mean to be. lol

Well, you could in theory, since you can have sex (http://www.xboxaddict.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-61336.html).

Funny thing is, Jack never complained about this once, but he was all over GTA for a very hidden minigame.
