Holy. Fucking. Shit.

I had a feeling it was going to be good, but fuck!

Seriously, go see it now. It's probably my second favorite movie now, but that could be having seen it recently and being all hyped up. I doubt that though. It's got some really funny lines in it (even lame ones like "My bad" are actually funny, I dont know how thats possible, but it is), it has friggen awesome animation/effects and stuff (the transformers looks so awesome all the time) and the action is top notch.

I was also really happy for them not to be scared of having swearing and stuff. They swear all the time, but its not over the top and stupid. I dont like how some movies take all the swearing out to give it a lower rating. They so easily could have here but they didnt. There's even one of those generic and humiliating 'parents talking to kid about masturbating' scenes which is also pretty funny when it shouldnt be.

I was totally not expecting it to be such a fantastic movie. If you have been looking forward to it, you'll love it. If youre kind of excited and know youll see it eventually, go see it tomorow. If you lame (and probably gay) and arent looking forward to it, then go see it anyway because youll probably like it anyway.

I saw it with a bunch of friends tonight and want to organise to see it with a different bunch of friends tomorow.

Oh! And Optimus Prime is so cool. <3

*high fives cube* I saw it too! :D Damn was I surprised. It's a very decent movie! I was extremely scared that it'd suck but it doesn't. Far from it, it was almost too good that it makes me worried about the sequel not living up to what this first movie has done.

EDIT: You're all gonna spill your lubricants.

As you may know, I watch Cartoon Network for 30 minutes a day, and I have to say that I'm mildly disturbed at how they advertise a PG-13 movie in kids' commercials for stuff like Happy Meals and stuff.

I'll probably see it soon.

I think the US wanted to wait and be cool and release it on the 4th of July. It's usually a big time for movies like this... i.e... INDEPENDENCE DAY haha. Transformers and Independence Day seem to have a lot in common to me. Destruction of the world, military tries to save world...other people end up doing it.

^Ah ok that makes sense. I heard that the world premier was in Sydney (in Australia) and Im like, wtf?

Maybe Micheal Bay's wife is Australian and shes like 'put the premier in Australia, hunny'.

...I dont actually know if he has a wife or not.

And as for the sequel, itll either be close to being as good as this one, or a whole lot shitter. Although I dont even know if theyre making one or have plans to, I get the feeling itll be just a way of getting cash and they wont try as hard and not have the same director and stuff. But who knows, they just might.

Lynk Former

No I think it's cause the school holidays start right now and they wanted to try to make maximum profits out of it. So with that, Australia got it first.

As for a sequel, I've been hearing that if this movie does well enough they'll definitely make a 2nd and 3rd movie to make a trilogy out of it.

Protip: Stay for the credits, you see something very important, "someone" survived... ;)

Oh and when I was watching the movie, there was this uber geek who was sitting next to me XD ...man, he was so tense, he was literally clutching his seats arm rests through the entire movie and not moving an inch. At one point I had to give him a sidewards glance just to make sure he wasn't experiencing a heart attack XD

I can't believe Michael Bay pulled it off, but this was easily the best movie of the year so far. It even toppled 300, which is quite a feat between me and my friends.

I saw it just last night. While it wasn't mind-blowing, it wasn't remarkably bad either. The thing I'm starting to notice, though, is that Shia LaBeouf is getting better and better. So far, he has more hits than any other actor this summer--Disturbia and Transformers have both fared well at the box office and been embraced by the critics. Transformers is a taut, tight-knit popcorn flick, albeit by no means a cinematic triumph.

This is not a cinematic triumph. A cinematic triumph is, for example, Million Dollar Baby, The Last King of Scotland, The Departed, The Queen, Citizen Kane, The Battle of Algiers, Casablanca, Titanic... There is no emotion to this. There are no subplots. There are cars that transform to become big robots... Listen to that there. This is not something people will be talking about two months from now, a year from now, or ten years from now. That is called lasting appeal. And while this movie may attract the attention of moviegoers for the short-term, it will not leave a lasting impression in the history of cinema. That's all I'm saying. It's great fun--totally ridiculous campy goodness. Just what a summer blockbuster should be. Casablanca it is not.

We know this. That's my point. No one expects Trans-friggin-formers to win oscars for it's taut grippnig storyline and compelling emotional acting perfomances. It's not even worth saying.

Yes. That is all that is relevant.

Hell yeah! That was what originally drew me to the movie (other than it being Transformers). It was done by Industrial Light and Magic. They did Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean and a bunch of other stuff. They are like the Pixar of realistic movie effects.
I saw it just last night. While it wasn't mind-blowing, it wasn't remarkably bad either. The thing I'm starting to notice, though, is that Shia LaBeouf is getting better and better. Yeh, Im a fan of Shia LaBeouf. He's always been pretty cool and I remember his TV show being not that bad either. He's also in Indiana Jones 4 as Indy's son or his assisant or something - they havnt revealed it yet. Cant wait for that one.

I liked the pissing scene. Optimus is one cool mofo.
But Bumblebee pissed on the guy. That being said, Optimus is one cool mofo.

Was anyone dissapointed by any part of it?

There were a couple of things that didnt sit well with me, but it wasnt really anything to destory the movie.

Optimus used his sword against Bonecrusher (the yellow guy) and it was pretty much the most awesome fight ever. Why the hell didnt he use it against Megatron?

My other annoyance was the actual fight between Megatron and Optimus. It seemed to me that Optimus got his ass kicked. Sure, he was trying to save and protect Sam, but its Optimus Prime! The only was Megatron was defeated was when the planes came down and shot him with missiles. It wouldve been sweet to see Optimus kick some Megatron ass, essepcially with his sword... but I guess they needed a reason to destroy the cube and keep all the Transformers on Earth. (for the sequel, apparently).

That's my plan, go see it several more times. I love the ending, leaving it wide open for a sequel. I am almost certain that Megatron will come back as Galvatron, seeing as how Optimus sent that signal out for any other Autobots to come to Earth, you can damn well believe we will see the Dinobots.

Technically we did with Scorpinok in this film. But yeah I completely agree, what with the survival of Starscream heading out to space at the very end.

This isnt the end of Megatron, its only a matter of time till his return or Galvatron's arrival. Excellemt movie and if done right Transformers 2 and 3 can take place, build up what this movie did right and great a huge smash hit movie trilogy!

Oh, ok. Bubble Bee is one cool dude.

I hope you did that on purpose. :)

Anyway, I saw the movie and as a pretty big Transformers fan for my whole life, I think this did justice to the series. I mean, it was very cheesy at parts, and a bit goofy at times, but since it's based off a cartoon, that's to be expected. Shia (Sam) is a great actor as well and he has a long long career ahead of him, which, being a fan of him, I expected such as well. As a fan of the series, I wasn't left disappointed at all (ok the sliding on a motorcycle and firing the grenade was more cheesy action than should ever be put into a film...but beyond that...I think it was all appropriate). And since Transformers 2 is already in talks, hopefully the second will have less explaining and more kick-assness. I was in smiles throughout the whole film really...let's just hope they don't bring too much of the Beast Wars/Dinosaur Transformers (if at all) in the sequel.

And considering Starscream was always my favorite, I'm glad to see him escape alive.

Reviewers crack me up...one I read (I think it may have been the Chicago Tribune, not sure) said the movie "didn't have even one decent action sequence"...Were you watching the same "Transformer" film I was? Critics can be such asses.

I'm pretty sure with films like this, 300, Casino Royale, Spider-Man 3, and Harry Potter just to name a few from this year, along with other greats like Planet Earth, an HD-Movie Player is quickly moving to the top of my must have list.

Just got home from watching it. Great movie!!

For the sequel, I would rather see Unicron in the 3rd movie (heard rumors there is going to be 6 movies). I would really like to see Devastator. I can imagine Ironhide say, "We are fucking screwed!" And bring on the Dinobots. I want to see Grimjaw chew up the decepticons.

Here is who I think will be in the next sequel:
Hot Rod = Z06 Corvette
Ultra magnus = Some GM Firetruck
Blur= Chevy Cobalt
All of the Constructicons
Scourge

It was an aweasome movie and a great action flick but...

Really, did we need so many other characters taking the screen? Especially when non of them are fun to watch? The british blonde was hot and all, but she was useless to the story and boring. The secretary of defense was annoying and overstayed his welcome by a good half hour honestly. The marines really didnt add anything to the movie either and the S7 people were just a big pile of dumb assholes, again overly annoying and taking up too much screen time. Thankfully Shia is a great actor and definetly is great on screen and Morgan Webb is decent enough but extremely hot so it works.

On the bright side, any scenes revolving the Autobots/Decepticons and Shia were amazing. The action was seemless and you really couldnt tell that the robots really werent there (unlike in Episode III were everything was obviously fake). All in all, good movie and a lot of fun, but imo, Die Hard was the better summer action flick because it didnt have all that useless filler that Transformers does.

Yeah. That was soundwave (at least based off the early script...I didn't hear a name mentioned for it so it's safe to call him that I think).

And the film you were talking about is something like A Bad Robot or very similar. They showed the name for about a half second 2 times, and it was close to that.

The movie stars Sam's character, though. That's why a lot of the story circles around him. He IS part of the "whole plot". That said, I think the focus on the two soldiers could have been lightened.

I really, really enjoyed this movie, though, for some odd reason. I thought I'd hate it. It's the best blockbuster this summer, thus far.

Trust me, this movie doesn't rape your childhood.

It makes sweet, sweet love to it. The action sequences are nothing short of pwnsome, and pretty much anything with Megatron in it was great to see. The only flaw, imho, was the "sweet nerd is totally shamed at his high school and then embarassed by the tough jock" bullshit. We don't need that to advance the plot, and thank God there wasn't some final confrontation where this poor "nerd" kid ends up kicking the jock's ass after realising his potential. I was so scared of that happening as I watched the film.

Gawd, jar jar x 1000. It was quite long and for a movie that doesn't
have anything. Yes, CGI was well done, but the action was crappy doo.

Who did write it? There was so much unecessary stuff that could have cut away. This wasn't about transformers, it was about a boy who wanted pussy.
Just like Hellboy wasn't about Hellboy, it was about that other guy who
wanted pussy. They could have cut the boy's family, the girl and the soldier away. Too much "I'm against you for 10 more minutes so this movie lasts abit longer" reasoning. Gawd.

Nice ending fight... wait there wasn't practiacally. Almost two hours to see Optimus vs. Megatron and it's over in seconds.
Gotto love the ending though. Autobots having a view to see two teens having sex.

This is purely my opinion and I respect if someone likes movie towarded 8-13 year old boys, and I'm not going to listen arguments against what I said 'cause I mostlikely wont change my mind.

I think you went in expecting a movie starring Transformers rather than a movie about Transformers.

The movie is about what happens to the world during the war between the Autobots and Deceptacons, and follows SAM WITWICKY. Not Optimus Prime.

That's the problem. Just like in Hellboy, they had a everyday character that could bring you in the story. Soon they ended up writing too much of him and ofcourse there need to be the girl, then her background needed to explained and stuff. A witch circle(is that a common phrase in english??) that ended up eating transformers. Tranformers story is told, by Optimus, in the movie under a minute when charaters took first hour of it. Someone made a mistake somewhere.
It's really bad written.

Transformers made me sad =/

I did laugh at some jokes, I know it was made for just enjoy the ride but they did fail even there. They should have cut corners and leave that teen romance away, if they were couple already, there would be more robots and action.
But even the action was all about explosions and robots rolling around.
It doesn't seem like they were awesomely powerfull, it was like two kindergardeners rolling down stairs.
They could have cut that desert stuff away completely with that syrypy "I'm coming home honey, to you and my bääby" There were litterally too many characters. After the movie I knew alot more about them characters than the transformers. Expet for the names, not good with them.

Predictions about sequel;
Hundreds of autobots and decepticons, only a handfull was in the movie and they did even show the old war between autobots and decepticons.
That soldier goes to new war leaving wife and few years old daughter crying.
Wife dies. Sams girlfriend is bregnant. There is black president.
The blond girl with chubby nerd are getting job from government.
There's new annoying little robot(or robots), this time friendly.
They will introduce new characters, which will again take first half of the movie. Manic general with loose trigger, a girl seducing Sam, Sam's grandmother with a new secret to tell about familys past. Mojo saves the day.

For those who were wondering, the little CD Player thing is actually called Frenzy, not Soundwave.

But he was Soundwave originally. That is who he is based off.

The thing that annoyed me is the whole Bumblebee/Hotshot thing.

Bumblebee was a gold VW Beetle with Black Stripes. Hotshot was a yellow camaro (lookalike at least). So pretty much Bumblebee was hotshot with stripes. Hasbro apparently wouldn't license the name Hotshot. WTF.

Yea thats what confused me the most. I was talking to my friends who saw the movie before i did (When i still hadn't seen it) and i kept on mentioned hotshot doing things that i had seen the in the preview and comercials. They were confused shitless since hotshot wasnt mentioned anywhere in the movie and we got into the dumbest argument over it. Yea, its pretty annoying.

To clear a few things up...

- They changed it to a Camaro to avoid the comparisons with Herbie the Love Bug...

- Blackout (the Chopper) was also originally known as Soundwave, as was Frenzy, but they eventually removed him completely as he had become too far from the original character. Blackout is actually a lot closer to Soundwave in character.

- Two sequels have been greenlit. Soundwave is set to be a major villain, and the Constructicons and Dinobots may appear. Megatron could return as Galvatron. Starscream will most likely also play a major part.

Also, Karibu, we're all entitled to an oppinion. Could you just do us a favour and not type yours like a monkey?

All in all, good movie and a lot of fun, but imo, Die Hard was the better summer action flick because it didnt have all that useless filler that Transformers does.I agree...this made the movie just a tad long with all the extra nonsense...

But Overall...yep yep--AMAZING!!!

It was better than Spider man 3 that's for sure...

I'll probably see it again...Fn' AMAZING!!!! Bumble Bee is freakin awesome when he changed into the corvett!!!!!!=-o

Xero, i think you meant Megan Fox. And if you did, she was worth the admission alone. Then there were the actual transformers, which looked spectacular. AND THEN there were the fight scenes. To me, i got a great value seeing this movie.

I loved the movie, and i grew up on Transformers so it was right up there with other movies like Spiderman and Xmen in the mystique of just simply seeing them in all their glory.

British Blonde? I think you mean the Australian Blonde...

As for everyone's complaints about having too many extra characters, yeah, there were a lot of them, but all of them were integral to the film's plot. Without the Soldiers, the Blonde, the Secretary of Defense and Section 7 we wouldn't have gotten to the ending. It's not like they were completely seperate stories, they were all intergral.

And sure, they could have just worked out some of the other characters, but the one thing I hate in action movies is that one character manages everything. It's more realistic (I can't believe I care about realism in a Transformers movie, but oh well) this way, compared to Sam finding out where the Cube is, where Megatron is, what weapons are effective against them, what the Decepticons mission is, etc. all by himself.

And yeah, that was another Camaro.

Yea Australian is what i ment, and imo she didnt fit the movie, contrary to how hot she was. I dont have a problem with having characters in movies when they should be there, i do, however, have a problem when those characters overstay their part. So much more time could be spent on the actual transformers, hell, i would have loved to see Starscream and Megatron bickering over something and getting into a small fight then the S7 guys getting de-panst or having the world's greatest hacker being used to send morris code.

Yeah, but I'd rather see what I do get to see of the Transformers actually mean something. They didn't dwell on anything longer than necassary in my oppinion, they just did what they could to get across the information necassary for the story.

Yeah, the Transformers could have used more screen time, but this film also needed to appeal to people who aren't fans already. Thus, they did need that first slow hour to give those people a chance to jump in and figure out, "Oh, it's an alien invasion movie".

And Green Elf, I know that...

...It's just odd that he fucked up four or five of them and then just rejoined and left the other three or four to fuck up Megatron. However, combining Starscream's nature from the cartoons, his constant conflict with Megatron, facts stated in the Prequel Comics with the fact he was "blending in" with a bunch of guys he just showed he could easily fuck up, but chose not to, instead letting them attack Megatron, I'm led to believe he may have joined in the attack.

My wife is in Qatar right now. That scene hit home like almost no other scene in a movie in years. Things like that in films always come down to circumstance of the viewer.

*****

On a whole, as a child of the early 80's they did more justice to the brand name than I expected they would. While they obviously needed to arrange things to fit the current market and not the mid 80's, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's based off a cartoon....WTF do people expect? A Tom Clancy like movie?

Morgan Fox is a damn fox. Not as though her part required the best of actresses so they did well in standing in some serious eye candy.

Speaking of eye candy, the CGI was impeccable. I do think they over did it with OP's transformation. Taking 30 seconds to go from truck to robot is just asking for a missile up the tail pipe. Starscream's aerial battle was nuts. Jet, robot, jet, robot, jet....all while taking down Raptors.

Hearing Cullen as Prime again was music to the ears for a fan.

Good comedy elements. Avoiding the parents was quite funny but did seem out of place a little as they could simply have parked on the street out front.

Learning language and culture from the Internet was clever.

Jazz should have played a bigger role and not been killed off. He had attitude that was missing from the film and Anthony Anderson couldn't carry the hip role on his own at all.

Considering the state of remakes and cartoon/comic translations done today, this one rates up in the high range.

Looking forward to the sequels.

So i went and saw it again cause my buddy wanted to go. we woulda went to see Harry Potter instead, however the next showing was an hour an a half later so in the end my laziness won out. Anyway, second time around i came with this impression;

Megan Fox is even hotter then before, with some amazing cleavage shots that i originally missed, shame on my perverted ass

Barracade (I think thats his name, the Mustang) doesnt die like i originally thought he did, but i was bummed that he didnt do anything at the last sequence

The Optimus Vs. Megatron fight still left a lot to be desired, but this time i noticed that Optimus did actually put up a fight (albiet, the scenes that he did put up a fight were covered by the Helicopter Decepticon. In the background you can see optimus and Megatron fighting and Optimus is actually doing something more then getting thrown around)

The hacker guy is still useless, even as comic relief he fails...misreably

Jazz looks amazing. That Solstice GXP with the hardtop is such a beautiful car, so much better then the awakward looking convertable imo.

And yea, thats it. I think i liked it more this time then the first, go figure.

Hmmm... Gotta put my 2 cents! I'll make it super short.

Megan Fox is really, really hot.

Action was insane.

They explained way too much (I'm pretty sure an 8 year old can manage the ridiculously simple story of the film without the Autobot narration) and let some scenes drag on far too long, for one that house scene. Too long, focus on what you're actually about, giant fighting robots, because the action was freaking amazing. Could've just replaced 20 minutes of dialogue with more fighting and the movie would've been far more entertaining, and it was already pretty damn entertaining.

Waaay to much 'American is super duper macho and has everything and is pure' nationalistic garbage. And waaay to much blatant advertising, at least don't make it stupidly obvious. The only thing I can say good on that front was that there was no weak American flag flapping in the wind like in Spiderman 3.

Rating? 3 out of 5 stars. Action earned 1.5 stars, Megan Fox earned the other 1.5 stars.

Ok all jokes aside, 2 out of 5 stars. The action earned 2 stars. The rest earned... zero. Really enjoyed the movie.

I finally got a chance to see this movie. It was the first time I saw a movie in theaters with my dad in almost 3 years. Crazy.

Anyway, so I was given in impression by everyone I know that Transformers was quite possibly the greatest movie they have ever seen. I wasn't originally going to see the movie since, well, I'm not a Transformer fan. I used to have an assload of the toys when I was a kid and I used to watch the cartoon, but it never stuck with me. I really hadn't much interest, despite how awesome robots are.
But it gave me an opportunity to see a film with my dad, so why not?
I've always been kind of picky as to how films are. However, no film seems to live up to the expectations. If I'm told by 10+ people that the film is awesome, I'm expecting awesome. Instead, I got "alright." It isn't really a complaint, but it got my hopes up.
As I said, I never really followed Transformers. I just know that we got some good robots (Autobots) and bad robots (Decepticons) and they fight each other. I'm assuming the cartoons plot never went too in-depth with that concept, so I commend the filmmakers for getting 2 1/2 hours out of that. The thing is, though, is that I would've liked to seen more focus on the robots themselves as opposed to the humans. The humans were essential to the plot, but I think they could've done without some of the stuff. The whole scene involving the parents and the Autobots hiding around the house irked me since...well, it was merely filler. The cars couldn't have just parked out in the street? Did we really need a dsicussion about masturbation? (Another thing that irked me was the political jab at W. Bush. I came to see a movie, not to hear of someone's political opinion). And really...."I NEED A CREDIT CARD!" What the hell? Why do you need a credit card to use a phone?
Yes, the movie had humorous parts, but I felt they were unnecessary. Then again, it's a summer blockbuster. What should I expect? Oh, and because everyone else has said it (and I agree): Megan Fox is hot. Hotter than the CGI, which was pretty cool. The fighting between the robots was a bit saddening since...well, there wasn't much of it and most of it was in streets, surrounded by buildings. The Starscream fight with the other jets was cool, not only because of the fluidness of it, but because I could actually see him doing shit.
I also liked how all the autobots were watching the two teenagers bang each other on top of Bumblebee. Made me laugh. (And where was Hotrod/Hotshot? I never liked him, but he was definitely absent).

So, a summary of what I rambled about: The movie was alright. Not great, but not bad either.
