This months issue of OPM (Official Playstation Magazine) features some never seen before images of PES 2008 as well as unveiling some new features and additions to this years game. The images seem to be from the same build that was shown-off by Konami earlier in the month with the official announcement of the game. But new screenies are always a treat when it comes to WE/PES! Without further ado, here are those pics.

Some of the new features in the game look fantastic and definetly add to the realism eperience that has made this game such a cult hit with soccer fans. The article focuses on the PS3 version highlighting that it's a completely new game built from from the ground up. The new proprietary adaptive system or AI known as "TEAMVISION" is also mentioned and given the double thumbs up by the writer. The images also show the new shirt-pulling feature that has been talked about for a while. The W.E.N.B. team is curious as to how that is gonna look and feel like in-game!

"Out favourite improvements are two small things that we've been requesting for years. The first being the ability to decide which players attack and defend set-pieces.... You can also designate how many players (and which ones) stand in the wall on free-kicks". Another feature fans will be ecstatic to hear with is the remastered edit mode that is said to be "massive."

OPM claim to have an in-depth preview in the next issue. We will have all that info and more in as its released. Stay tuned with W.E.N.B. for all the latest WE/PES fans.

one of the biggest games on PS3 this holiday. I wonder how much will it sell compared to the other IPs releasing around the same time.

PES 2008 playable End of August - 3 New Screens

Konami revealed at at IDE that Pro evolution soccer will be playable at the end of August this year. They also revealed that, the game will be very similar across all regions, the Japanese version will be very similar to the European version of the game which will be available this Autumn.

According to the developer, the game will be identical on both the ps3 and xbox360 from a technical point of view. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until the end of August when the game will be playable at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany.

Boo!

And here I was hyping myself that the PS3 will get something better :duh:

So Sony funded this game why?

EDIT: Oh wait, looking at the source- What the hell is Gamers-creed? And it's a blog?

how could they be identical if ps3 version was 18gb without sound ?!
esspecially from a technical poit of view it is impossible.

I do expect them to be identical. maybe some uncompressed audio and things like that for PS3, but nothing major. still, I want to see the reason behind Famitsu's 18G claim. could it still come on multiple discs on X2? or could this be the PC version along with the pS3 one? in any case, online footy fans will be very busy this holiday. ;)

So Sony funded this game why?

because they are cool like that.

Yeah this random blog that I never heard of before is probably just an Xbox fanboy (like the 90% of the internet bloggers) so I'm still waiting for an official word which is the best way to go about with these things.

But let's not be boring and speculate anyway.
Do I think the PS3 version will be superior?
Of course BECAUSE Sony helped with the funds, Konami is an honourable company and will give something in return.

But I don't believe that 18GB without sound information as it was just speculation, no?

because they are cool like that.
lol as cool as they may be, no company just throws money into nothing unless this was a private funding made by one of the Sony employees but I strongly doubt that.

well if this '18gb without audio' was true.

only Famitsu said so, for what it's worth. I never bought it, but we'll see anyway.

well, they did do that for Neon, EDGE and other tools that they gave to 3rd party devs that made multiplatform games with them. but this isn't a short term immediate kind of deal. they are looking at the long run. this is Sony we are talking about here. ;)

All 3 next-gen versions (PS3/360/PC) will be using the same graphics engine as PES6 on Xbox 360.

Remember PES1 and PES2 used the same engine as PS1, but added smoother textures and a cardboard crowd. PES3 was a big leap in graphics. Expect a new engine to be used in PES 2009.

While I do agree for the most part there is rumor and speculation to a considerably more refined PS3 title geared around the architecture. The level of refinement (if anything) and the ability for the end user to appreciate this is in general what most of us are waiting on.

Some of the PR by the company supports this as well.

We'll see soon if it's all just PR BS and they were just using the PS3 to promote it, or if it's for real.

Cristiano Ronaldo signs for PES 2008

Portuguese midfield maestro to be the European face of Konami Digital
Entertainment GmbH’s new Pro Evolution Soccer title

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced that Cristiano Ronaldo will
be the pan-European face of its forthcoming PES 2008 – the latest incarnation of
the multi-million-selling Pro Evolution Soccer series.

Midfielder Ronaldo is regarded as one of the most exciting talents of the
modern game, and the 22-year-old is a permanent fixture in the Portuguese
national squad. His incredible ball control and trademark skills have seen him
receive countless awards, including both the PFA’s 2007 Player and Young Player
of the Year awards. As part of the deal, Cristiano Ronaldo will appear on the
packaging and point-of-sale materials for Konami’s PAL versions of
PES 2008, alongside specially selected local talent, details of which will be released at a later date.

The Ronaldo deal comes as Konami gears up for the launch of PES 2008 this
Autumn. Due for release for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360, PC-DVD, PlayStation®2, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) and Nintendo DS, the new game boasts the revolutionary Teamvision AI system, a proprietary element that actively monitors the player’s onscreen movements and adapts accordingly, forcing the player to consider their own strategic play more carefully. Other new additions include amazing attention to aesthetic detail as faces contort and shirts crease during a match, extensive Edit modes in all Next Generation versions, and closer control than ever before.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is the most exciting talent in modern football,”
commented Jon Murphy, Pro Evolution Soccer Team Leader for Konami Digital
Entertainment GmbH. “It is fitting that a player with his incredible skill and
poise is to join forces with a game that can thrill and challenge as much as the
real thing. His obvious enthusiasm for PES 2008 will be channelled into the
game, and we look forward to working with Cristiano in the coming months.”

“For me there is no other game that can capture the grace and skill of
football like PES 2008,” added Cristiano Ronaldo. “Every element of the game is
lavished with incredible detail, and with its close control and fast pace it is
the most complete simulation of real football out there.”
