How many of you are still playing these games?

I still go back and forth between GH 1 and 2 every couple of days. I've been playing both games (and the 360 version) for months and haven't really gotten bored of it yet. Maybe I need to buy more games. I usually play on Hard mode so the songs aren't too easy and I also don't have to worry about failing. Right now I'm stuck on Cowboys From Hell and Bark at the Moon on expert in the first game. If I could figure out how to time the fucking hammer-ons and pull-offs it would be no problem.

This thread isn't really about a specific thing from the games, I just felt like making a Guitar Hero thread. Talk about what songs you're stuck on, what difficulty you play on, which game you like better, songs you would like to see in a GH game, and so on.

I always play on Expert because not playing most of the notes seem boring to me.

When I want a challenge or am just up for playing, I play hard to play songs and I got a few favourites to play like One For The Road, The Last Child, Can't You Hear Me Knocking.

I always try to finish the Career Mode on Expert too but I'm stuck on a song now (forgot which one) so I always give up on that after two or three times as it gets reaaaaaaaaaaaally frustrating.

Then after my wrists start to hurt because the neck of the guitar is too skinny for my comfort, I go on Practice and play random songs on Bass.
By "random" I mean I turn the sound off, close my eyes and move the fret up and down for 20 seconds or so and stop randomly lol.

So yeah, quite a good game to play no matter what mood I'm in but there is only one song that I would listen to in real life in the game (War Pigs) so when I'm not in the mood to play, that's the only song that can make me feel like play.

I'm going to buy GH1 soon just for Ironman.

I fucking love Guitar Hero. I kinda like the first one's song list better. I really wish I had the 360 version for the achivement points, not every shmuck can beat "freebird" on expert

I play Expert and have completed every song except Jordan, which I can complete 68% of. I don't play Guitar Hero too much by myself, but I play it a ton when I'm with my friends. I like Guitar Hero II more, especially since it has a better multiplayer.

I want to see an Yngwie Malmsteen song as the abusive final song. I don't care which it is (although I would love Trilogy Suite or Far Beyond the Sun,) it'd still be far more frustrating than Free Bird ever was. :P

But yes, I play constantly. Although I play guitar/bass I can't seem to strum up and down in Guitar Hero...if feels so unnatural to time right compared to a real guitar so that keeps me from perfecting my scores. Right now I'm stuck on Freya (by The Sword) on Expert in Guitar Hero II.

Haha, sometimes I can't help but try to use them even though I know it's not going to happen. This is one of the reasons why I like playing GH 2 more than GH 1, even though I like the song list in the first game A LOT more than the second game's. Sometimes I play the first game just because I feel like listening to the music. However, I like actually playing through the songs in GH 2 more than the first game because everything actually works. Hopefully that makes sense to someone.

I haven't played Guitar Hero I in a few months. I don't think I've play Guitar Hero II for a few weeks. The games are still fun, but I find GH2 better than GH1. I got about halfway through Expert on GH2. On the PS2, I got stuck on Monkey Wrench (blah) and on the 360, I got stuck at some other song...but I managed to beat Monkey Wrench.
I really had no intention of beating Expert. It gets too frustrating for me, and I like having fun. Woo.

Latest 3-star score: Institutionalized (or Misserlou), whichever is the 4th song of the last group.
Latest 4-star score: Free Bird
Latest 5-star score: YYZ

If I could ever get the right-hand motions smooth in the Beast and the Harlot verses I could 5-star that, but I'd rather work on beating Jordan than trying that.

I absolutely love this game. Fell in love with it over the summer, brought it over to a friends house. Realized that we needed some multi-player action so i went out and bought a second guitar.

Im the best in my little group by far (i have played the most though), and i cant get past FreeBird on fucking hard. The solo kills me. I get like 98% done. :|

I have completed most of the songs on Expert on the first one, but am stuck on No One Knows by QOTSA. I get stuck on just one little part and havent really put the effort into beating it like i did for the other songs. Im decent at the game.

I cant wait for the new GHIII and Rock Band.

I only have it on 360 and play it alot. Just beat the hard career, still sucking on expert. I do wish the game had a better song selection though. I wish they would release guitar hero 1 on 360 through like xbox live or something (screw paying 9$ for 3 songs or whatever the crazy price was).

Also I want some more bad ass songs. Like real guitar bad ass stuff.

Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteem, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc.

There is a ton they could put that would be awesome to play.

I would really like to see like some Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody, Dream Theater, or Symphony X. Any prog or power metal really.

No, don't worry about that. It actually has improved me a bit, although I'm not amazing by any means. You'll just catch on to the game more quickly.

What are some of youse guys favorite songs from each game?
It can be because the song is challenging, fun to play, or you just like the song itself. I like...

GH 1 - Iron Man, More Than a Feeling, Ziggy Stardust, Spanish Castle Magic, Crossroads, and every song from the last set.

GH 2 - You Really Got Me, Search and Destroy, War Pigs, Message in a Bottle, Jessica, The Trooper, Rock this Town, and Free Bird.

Yeah, but I usually play on Hard mode when I'm not trying to get through expert on career so I enjoy playing it like that. And my list is a mix of songs I like to play and others I just like to listen to.

GH1- Take It Off (Favorite), Infected, Killer Queen, More Than a Feeling, Unsung, Hey You, Ziggy Stardust, Decontrol, and Get Ready 2 Rokk.

GH2- Girlfriend, Crazy on You (HARD!) (Both are favorites), Sweet Child o' Mine, YYZ, Misirlou (HARD!!!), Less Talk More Rokk, Search and Destroy, Carry on Wayward Son, The New Black, and Message in a Bottle are all favorites.


By the way...I'm so jealous of 360 owners...I just saw that within the next week or so Devotion and Desire by Bayside will be a downloadable track. Not only do I really enjoy them (good guitar and songs), but that is by far one of my favorite songs. I made the comment a day or two ago to my girlfriend how I wanted that song on guitar hero. :(

The dissapointed I felt after I read the title properly is still unmatched this year (video-game wise).

How do you suck at that song? There's practically no difficulty to it at all. The songs you have to beat to even unlock it are more difficult.

It's just a matter of how much you play it. I play either the first one or the second one almost every day, since this past Christmas. I can just barely beat expert, and i still can't beat Jordan. My friends who've gotten the game are on Medium and Hard, but that's because they haven't played it as much as a nerd like me, but they keep getting better.

If you visualize the notes as sets of three and play it enough, you start to see it, although it takes a while. Unfortunately, the second part with the proper shredding is not as simple to visualize, and that's where I die.

Into, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, triplet run, easy sweet solo, trill cloud, awesome and evil shred part, evil triplet bridge (think Play With Me after the easy part but slower and more awkward), easy double-strum part, then chorus/verse to the end.

Bah at that opinion. Seek and Destroy live is classic. The old Hetfield voice on the Kill 'Em All CD is not good, thus the live version later on at Woodstock is much better.
