How's it going guys :)
I'm not sure if I should be posting this or not, but whatever (I'm not worried about my job, I'm more worried for the other guy's job )...
Today at work, a Sony rep came in and bestowed some goodies on me (I got a LAIR nametag and a Warhawk pin, to name a couple :-D), and after I kept asking him questions about this & that about PS3/PSP/general Sony happenings, and it was clear that I'm really interested in upcoming stuff, he let me in on Sony's upcoming schedule (which is tentative of course, don't take these as absolute release dates as always) for PS2, PSP, PS3, and downloadable games for PS3 & PSP (yes, downloadable games for PSP).
Hmm... where to start... I asked him if I could have this calendar, but obviously no luck there, so I'm working off memory here. A lot of this is stuff that just straight-up didn't make sense to me because they haven't been announced yet (and more than likely will be at E3), and bear in mind that this is purely stuff coming from Sony and no 3rd party stuff was listed here.
For July, Loco Roco was listed as a PS3 PSN game to arrive on July 26th (YES!!)
I believe it's in August (and every month for the next few months) that we get a new visualizer, and the first one was called de.tuned or something like that. So, these may be with firmware updates, or maybe they'll be separate downloads... not sure, but they're coming!
On the downside, Killzone 2 and LBP were both listed for March 2008. Don't expect KZ2 in 2007... sorry :'(
That "9 to 5" game that was rumoured awhile back, I think it's the same as an episodic game called "Rat Race" or "The Rat Races" (can't remember), which had a new episode per month starting in September (again, working purely off of memory here so please cut me some slack)
There were a few other episodic games that just didn't make any sense to me. There was a "Buccaneer" episode 1 hitting early 2008 and a couple others that I can't remember the name of.
Additionally, there's a Warhawk Vehicle pack slated for January 2008. Not sure if that's news, but it was news to me :-p
On the PSP side, God of War: Chains of Olympus is set for January 2008 as well, though I was really hoping it would be 2007 :(
PSP will also be getting a Syphon Filter game that's downloadable, and I think it had "Ghost" in the title. It's something different from Logan's Shadow, the new PSP game coming out though, I know that.
PS2 is getting Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, and I believe that one was set for March
Snakeball is set for September, I think...
That's all I can remember for now! Sorry that details are hazy, but like I said, I got a small glimpse of it. And this info is first-hand -- no hearsay involved here :-D. If there's something I didn't mention that you were curious about, go ahead & ask and it might jog my memory . Needless to say, there was a lot of stuff on that list that I didn't know what the hell it was, so it left my memory quite quickly. PSP is getting a good number of downloadable games and starting in January on the calendar, the category where it listed "PSP/PSN" and "PS3/PSN games" changed to "PSP/eDI" and "PS3/eDI games". Not sure if that's just a typo, an inconsistency, or what, but I noticed it :-p
Anyways, if you have questions ask away...

Good to have Ricky Gervais in the thread :-p
Ooh! I remembered a few more details:
Wipeout HD is real, and it was on the list, sometime in 2007. I remember somebody saying this wasn't real and the rumors about it were false, but it was on the list, and this was Sony's list.
GT5 Prologue was also on there for 2007, I'm guessing November.

Good plausible sounding info. Be sure to pick up Ratchet & Clank, I love PS3 but hate PSP, what gives. :)
Rep get.
They should make a Ricky Gervas DDR game.

The less info I give that could ID me (which would then ID the Sony guy that gave me this info, and I'm worried he might get in trouble, I wouldn't get in trouble lol), the better :-p
An observant (or veteran) fellow already knows the answer to that though :-p
& Apple: I don't particularly care if it sounds plausible or not... I know what I saw and I'm not making this up :-D

1. Seems legit to me as they actually set a "release date" for a freakin demo. i cant belive they think its gonna be that freat, maybe it will but who sets release dates for a freakin demo you get in the mail lol? So that comes out September so it makes sense it would be January for the full game. I cant belive they actualyl have me waiting 3 months for a demo though...
2. Yeah, PS2 is gettin Syphon Filter Dark Mirror so it makes sense it'd be getting R&C too.

It's important to note that there was quite a bit of stuff on that list that I can't even mention because I've forgotten most of it. Needless to say, there was some really cool stuff planned for download on both PSP and PS3, and PS2 is getting more love than just the R&C port (another Singstar, for example). There was plenty on that list to get me excited and I'd expect a lot of the details on these PSN games to show up at E3.

I remember somebody saying this wasn't real and the rumors about it were false, but it was on the list, and this was Sony's list.I've been saying that the 1crap reports were fishy because they seem to be the only ones who haven't really interviewed WipEout series main responsible guy about it, yet they went on to confirm something he never confirmed on his own words and even Sony couldn't confirm it existed. How much sense would it make that he could talk about it when Sony wouldn't confirm it? He either broke his NDA or the Sony reps who were contacted knew nothing about it or even wanted to deny the rumors for now.
Anyway, a few juicy bits of info in there  It still feels like the most juicy info hasn't been unveiled yet.

I'm thinking the 2007 PSN release will be a demo :-/The plan is to release the full game this year and let the community go wild, then next year they will release the game on Blu Ray with a compilation of the best levels and such. Liquid I wouldn't worry about getting the Sony rep fired, this is all apart of Sony's word of mouth viral marketing plan. Just look at this thread and you can see we're all hungry and excited for new info, and we don't keep it to ourselves we always pass on the news.
Chang3 is here, E3 is upon us.........

I think it's great news that Killzone won't be released until 2008. It gives them more time to work on it.
That doesn't necessarily mean that they will be working on it til then. That could just be a strategic move to balance out release dates. There are already a shit load of blockbusters planned for release by years end.
However, any improvements that may be made will be too minute for you to tell the difference.
Rest assured...it'll be nice, regardless.

Yeah the game industry keeps releasing 80% of the world's games in the last 25% of the year. I can't afford that shit.
I read the percentage somewhere. it is something like 60% of the entire year's games being released in the last 60 days of the year. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/shmookins/emos/wryyy.gif

Wait for next year or so, when E3 doesnt matter anymore (those little shows die a slow death)
But I too find it rather idiotic, that they dont release bigger games in summer (I am not saying MGS big, but bigger... iirc, MGS3 was released in Germany in March afaik). There are many people with no real life (not like me though :P) who would love to buy a game now. If a game a la Uncharted was released now, I would go to a store NOW (it is 0:37am ^^ usually no store is allowed to open though in Germany at these times) and buy it. Usually though, Sony also counters this trend. Look at God of War 2 (released in March in the US and April/May in Europe) yet it sold fantastically...
But now sorry for the derailment (I love literal german translations, they sound horrible in english)

E3 has no berring on sales and never will. The smaller E3 just means that we get new game announcements all year round accept only once a year, well atleast Sony annouinces games all the time now, they could've waited until E3 to announce all the big news from march til now, but chose not to and I applaude them for that.
Edit: The PS2 is actualy the only console i've ever seen to relase AAA hit games during slow seasons. GT3 in summer of 2001, GT4 in Feb 05, GOW 1 and 2 in March, DMC3 in January, and so on. EA used to always release MOH in the summer on PS2 and make the other consoles wait til fall lol. PS3 looks to continue this trend, I doubt GT5 will release in the fall of next year, i'm betting spring or summer, especialy since prolouge is around the corner, also The Agency is coming next summer, Killzone2 in the spring. Some of the biggest PS3 games aren't waiting til the fall to drop. Just for refference, Sony has never released a GT games in the U.S. in the fall, and thats there biggest franchise by far, it shits on Halo and GTA in sales numbers.

There were a few other episodic games that just didn't make any sense to me. There was a "Buccaneer" episode 1 hitting early 2008 and a couple others that I can't remember the name of.
Could rather fit well -> Search for Pirates in the thread titel over at neogaf (sorry, still canīt post links, damn)
PS2 is getting Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, and I believe that one was set for March
It saddens me, if I even see Sony porting its game from PSP to PS2 :(
LiquidEagle
06-30-2007, 11:13 AM
Well Syphon Filter & the GTA "Stories" already were ported from PSP to PS2, so the Ratchet wasn't a big surprise but it was still a little shocking to see. Granted, something like that will never happen with Portable Ops ;)
Also, I do believe E3 has had a rather large bearing on many releases since developers have to spend a lot of time prepping their games to be playable & trailers have to be made... plenty of resources have to go towards that all while they're trying to make the game. It also makes (or made, perhaps) sense to get your game ready for a May unveiling and a Nov/Dec. release, but with E3 becoming more intimate (I don't think it'll die off at all though, Segitz) and less extravagant, I hope over the years less companies will be banking on that so much to unveil their games and make the big announcements that we'll see some solid stuff announced throughout the year. Sony is great about releasing games in the summer usually, with games like GT3, but this summer it's been rather cold :'(
March is a big month for most any game publisher, I don't think game releases in that month are purely a Sony thing, but God of War 1 & 2 are clearly the big news for March recently -- don't forget Zone of the Enders came out in March from Konami, Red Faction came from THQ in May, and Onimusha came in February. Always good to have good games release in a month that isn't already hectic as-is.
