Before the last update, I wasn't able to see any video files on my PC. Now it plays ALL of my video files, including WMV, DIVX, etc... Nice!!! Strangely PS3 sees them as Mpeg-2.

I could do it since 1.80. I just used TVersity and the patches they released. I guess it works now from PS3's side where it could be improved though.

Yeah, it's nothing new, TVersity and Nero both encode the files as on-the-fly.
It's just a little unstable, that's all. Especially if you have a router or switch.

well, apparently the stability has been drastically improved. I couldn't get any video at all and only some images the first time I tried it.

That's good to hear! I haven't tried it out since I updated the FW, (I'm on my way to Spain right now writing from my laptop in a hotel room.) but I'd almost given up on it because if the instability.

I downloaded TVersity awhile back when 1.80 first came out, but I couldn't get it to work, so I'm just using the settings in Windows Media player. How do I get TVersity to work so I can watch the videos on my comp that are .avi, .wmv, etc?

Interesting... I'll have to try that.

It's good to know that Sony is improving the OS.

Videos i used to be able to watch which arei n WMV now say unsupported...
This is weird

Update:
My compatibility is unchanged. It still only plays mpeg, mpeg2 and mpeg4 and nero encode allows it to play WMV but for everything else I have its still timing out

I just got it working again (TVersity that is).

First, NOTHING worked, then all videos were upside down and then it worked...

Just dl. the newest version of FFMpeg (that did it for me). But I am still a bit disappointed, because of the conversion quality. My usual tv recordings look good (~4mbits bitrate with Mpeg2) yet TVersity converts them (as always) with Mpeg1 and ~2mbits... I cannot force him to use more (although I set it up to max bandwidth usage)...

I just downloaded it yesterday (reinstalled Windows fresh, we got MSDNAA at University last week, MS Soft for free :P)... But as I use it only on occasion, I can live with it.
