Anyone see the trailer to this before Transformers?? It's supposedly a giant monster from outer space flick. JJ Abrams is attached to it. It was a teaser trailer, but it got me going.

No one can find a lick of info on it, nothing is online. It's gonna be shot blair witch style with someone holding a handheld camera. The trailer starts with a guy filming a going away party for a guy named Rob, who's leaving to Japan from NY. Then an earthquake happens, the lights flicker, ppl scream, they run up to the roof of the building, look over towards Manhattan and see a HUGE fireball erupt, as if Manhattan was obliterated, then embers/debris flys towards them as they scream running. One giant chunk hits a building before rolling down the street, coming to a stop as the camera zooms in you see it's the Statue of Liberty's head. Thing flys like 4-5 miles.

Then it goes black, puts up JJ Abrams name, then a date of 1-18-08. That is it.

Bad Robot is JJ Abrams' production company. Watching all of LOST Season 1 on DVD you see that little "Bad Robot!" thing come up a lot, and it's not related to the actual movie or its title.

I'm very VERY interested personally, since I'm very fond of what Abrams has done so far in his movies and on TV (namely LOST, since I've never seen Alias), and this is about as much info as I could find on the movie (which probably won't be called Cloverfield).

Oh, sorry. I was confused about that. The explanation of the film that was given sounds so much better than the actual preview looked.

I didn't really see the stuff after the trailer because I was talking to my friends saying "What the hell was that?". But the sound that occured with the explosion made me think Godzilla. There was that screech that is always associated with him.

Since I work at a theater over the summer I get to watch it a lot :-D

My anticipation for this movie is growing very rapidly, I must say. It's very rare that a movie's able to have this much mystery about it from what I've seen, and I'm excited to find out more -- I'm convinced it isn't Godzilla now, so I really want to see what it is!

btw GreenElf, no need to be sorry :-p, I think a lot of people thought it was called Bad Robot and I only know what it is because I watched Lost season 1 on DVD and saw it appear after every episode (when you see it with the "BAD ROBOT!" voice-over it tends to stick in your head too )

Double Post.

I saw the clip. I think it might be Godzilla. I love monster movies so I'll take it even if G-man isn't in it.

i found the preview.... somewhat difficult to find because they are constantly taking them down i guess.

Looks pretty cool. Some people are speculating that you won't see the monster at all. I guess that makes sense considering its the same guy who does Lost.

I think i might have found something out about the movie details and what it has to do with the "prophecies" of Ethan Haas. To anyone who has gotten past the fourth test on ethanhaaswasright.com, there was a picture that somebody cropped and showed 2 faces on 1-18-08.com that look almost exactly alike when placed together side by side. In the video right after the fourth test, the leader of what i think is some sort of rebellion says this "the more that we are in the same place at the same time, we will all see we must organize....". The picture that has been spread around the internet and this quote makes me think this isn't simply a "big monster movie" but something more... We will all see August 1st...

Ya. I'm for sure interested in this movie. Although the idea of being filmed strictly from a handheld cam reduces my interest abit.

If it's even a fraction as good as LOST is, this movie is gonna kick ass.

If you don't know already, those Ethan Haas sites are fakes. JJ even confirmed it himself. (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/33261)

The Greatest Game Ever Played 2.

I believe the first ten minutes will just be New York getting destroyed and then it will cut to the next morning when everyone's dead. The only survivors will be these two intercity black kids who find a set of golf clubs and the rest of the movie entails their quest to play the greatest game of golf ever.

I can prove it through several observations I made.

1st: On the website 1-18-08 you can see a woman making a circular shaped hole in her mouth as if she is gasping in horror but if you were to think this you are a complete ignoramus: it is actually a sign that an object big enough to fit in a woman's mouth is going to be used in the movie. Upon further analysis I decided the only sensible answer was that it was a golf ball.

2nd: The same picture also contains a picture of a black woman. This supports my theory that it will be intercity black children doing the actual, physical golfing in the movie. I also want to point out that there was double significance in this picture because the greatest golfer of our time, Tiger Woods, happens to be black and so is the woman in which furthers the golf connection.

3rd: On the website 1-18-08 you can also see a picture of people running in a white mist. The color of golf balls are generally white.

4th. There is a picture of a man pouring liqour into the mouth of another in one of the pictures, almost as if it was symbolic of a hole in one.

5th. Many connect the Slusho.jp website to this movie. Slusho, for those of you who don't know, is a type of slurpee. Is it too far of a stretch to say that one would not want to enjoy a tasty beverage, such as slusho, after a game golf?

6th: The producer has said this movie is not a sequel. Why would he have said that unless it actually is one?
:pleased:

I saw the trailer for it the other day but didn't know what I was watching. It did look cool though. Hopefully it is a monster and not just some lame comet or something. Monsters are cool.

I also saw the trailer for 10,000 BC. That looks awesome.

Better that than a dead lion.

Wait, a giant dead lion destroying NYC. Ok, that might be entertaining.
