Well. I Now Have Installed UBUNTU! fucking awesome. I didn't partition my drive, but i really don't care i'm probably going to dualboot my windows system for my games. maybe browsing. but why do that when you have linux, anyway. I found a pretty simple way to setup the wireless config on Fiesty. Credits (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsG4aVXxkcE) (Youtube is My Visual Savior, although this video is a bit different... it gave me a few good ideas up my sleeve.)
This Probably Will Work for you, since I had no idea how to install ndiswrapper (i don't know I also followed the steps from ubuntu forums [you're probably saying "omgn00b".]) Here's the Scoop. I Have a Broadcom Wireless 4311 <-yep. on an HP Pavillion dv2000 using a linksys router. can I keep you waiting any longer?
so here's what I did Kids:
1. Go to System --> Administration --> Network
2. Type Password in (if Available, no idea how to get it off mine, but I'll deal)
3. Go to your ip account for your router *linksys = 192.168.1.1* using firefox.
4. Type Password in and All that Crap, then wireless>wireless security
5. Copy Key 1 (underneath "Passphrase")
6. Uncheck Wired Connection (don't forget to take out your wires before or wired connection will recconect)
7. Double Click the Wireless Connection (or look for it if it's not there XD )
7a. paste the "passphrase" to where it says "Network Password" in "Network Settings"
7b. Make Sure Your Password Type is Hexidecimal and not Ascii
7c. Your Auto Configuration Should Be DHCP
8.Click Ok then Close out of "Network Settings"
Badabing Badaboom You should Be Ready to Connect to the Internet. This is just a test to see if the people at Ubuntu changed the firmware or something for broadcom.
