Cancelled for the PS3.
I really can't see this game doing well at all for the 360. At all.

Saw this coming. Lots of people found it odd the game was made for PS2 to start with and not GC. It should do well on Wii at least as Wii seems to be picked up where PS2 is leaving off. Ok, so PS2 hasn't really left off at all yet.

Wasn't it not coming to the Wii and 360 at all at first? That's excellent news for me, though. I'm totally getting this.
I think the main reason Katamari Damacy came out on the PS2 was because the game's graphics and sounds are very, very simple, and it doesn't need a lot of power to play. Adding that to the fact that they can reach more people with the PS2 than anything else, it makes sense to me. But if I were them I would have also brought it to the Gamecube, even as a remake. There's definitely a market for it among Nintendo fans.

I am going to buy this, though depending on the differences between the two I could get it on either system.
Definitely a buy from me.

I'll take a look at it.
Katamari Damacy was great because it was the kind of game that showed up outta nowhere and slapped you in the face with something crazy and fresh. The sequal didn't have that... instead it felt like playing the same game. It was kinda boring honestly.
This however, looks interesting because the Wii controller based gameplay. Tilting back forth left and right to move the Katamari could be great fun. I'll have to rent it before I make up my mind about buying.

I don't see why it's not PS3/Wii with tilt controls or whatever.
I think it's rather lame that it got cancelled for PS3, despite the fact that it doesn't affect me in the least.

It's just a far too niche game for the hardcore userbase of the PS3. It wasn't meant to slap Sony in the face, I don't think.

I've you've got one Katamari you've got them all really, but do get one as it's rather fun.
why would they cancel this for the PS3? The controller is perfect for it...

See my reply above. :) I wouldn't have bought it for PS3, it's a one shot deal. Sure I'm not alone.

Yet you have yet to play this version at all?
Sure, most sequels use the same formula, but imagine if someone said, "If you have one Resident Evil, you have them all" WITHOUT playing RE4........

It really is just the same game over again, yup, I have no problems saying if you have any Katamari you don't need another one.
I'd out the reverse to you, how would the gameplay have been different in this cancelled PS3 version that would have made people who already own it on PS2 run out and buy it.
I see no indication of that. It's no loss. At all. Nuf said.

^I don't really agree if the control scheme is very different.
Now, for the Wii verison, it's sure to be different. And if it were on PS3, I'm sure it would have used tilt. But for 360, that may be same-old same-old. At least it had a chance of doing more on PS3, so it's sad to see that as a lost opportunity.

Well then again this is one of the games that really benefits from rumble when you go over bumps or slam into things. Not happening for PS3.
I'll be quiet now. :)

Apple, i dont know how much research you had done on this particular title, but i just did some and it seems the gameplay really is unchanged. So, if this is true and no significant new advances are made gameplay wise, then yes. If you have one, you have them all.

The majority of the PS3 fanbase isn't the kind of people who would like a silly game like Beautiful Katamari. The graphics are too simple. :P

^Yes, even in HD.

Cool, Ive never played a Katamari game before. I really want to though. Know I have the difficult choice of which platform to get it for... 360 or Wii?

The graphics will be identical on both, I'm almost certain, so the only difference will be the controls. I guess it's just up to whichever will end up working best.

It'll look better on 360, but not much, and this isn't a game you buy for the graphics anyway.

Hm Echocrome, LocoRoco or fl0w anyone?
I dont have something against simple graphics when they are good made.
The thing with Katamari is that its not just simple, its ugly. I wouldnt buy it because its almost the same like on PS2, so i have no problem that this game goes Wii60 only.
But you could make it a download title for PSN that would be something different.
I just find it sad that theyve gone that way, because there is much more potential in the game imo.

I dunno this looks exactly like the others. I mean there's more stuff to pick up and its BIGGER but I wanted something more than just rolling a ball around this time. I totally skipped We Love Katamari and Me and My Katamari was alright but if this is exactly the same I think I'm done with the series. Games like these are good once maybe twice but after that it's done. Just like LocoRoco I mean a second would be great but after that it'll get too old.

i guess that means we'll be hearing LBP is cancelled for PS3 too? ;)
That sort of statement is no different to people claiming Wii is "kiddy" - if you don't like the kiddy image, don't try and reinforce the hardcore image :)

I think the main reason its not on PS3 right now is the install base. PS3 has such a high price right now that not a lot of casual gamers own it yet. So it would be a high risk for them to publish that game on the ps3.

Although their actually might be a bit of truth to the joke, even though it would be a gross oversimplification.

Because a lot of people have 360s, I assume.
