Well now that E3 has passed I just wanted to know is there any other gaming events (big or small) to look out for this year?

E for All later this year. It's at the LA convention center, basically supposed to take the place of what E3 used to be.

I dunno if the translation was bad or not, but when kojima came to stage at the Sony press conference, he told to check next week in Japan he will demo MGS4.

There is a Sony event of some form happening this week. Little is known of what to expect at the show aside from MGS4 being shown again.
