Anarchey (SotK), you are seriously the weirdest guy I sort of know. :)
Went and saw it yesterday, and I must agree. King Kong is freaking awesome. I loved the fact that Kong is all scarred up and stuff, too - he's been fighting dinosaurs his whole life! Plus, they did a good job of making you feel the connection between Kong and the girl without making it feel like some kind of creepy monkey love thing.
I had to wonder, though - did Andy Serkis say "Peter, can you find the nastiest way ever to kill off my character? Because that would be perfect." The lady sitting next to me actually left the movie during that scene and never came back. The whole bugs thing... was not for me.
