1987 ST 162 Celica. Low Km's (135k) Full service history. All for 5.8k, could probably haggle down to 5.6/7. Worth it or not?

Honestly I don't see that being that great of a deal. Maybe if it had a turbo. But still, its 20 years old. Being that old even if it is in excellent shape, its still gonna need more work then you know.
IF it was an earlier RWD celica, maybe, or even a later AWD. But thats FWD if im not mistake, so no. Buy a newer imprezza or protoge for that money.

btw^ an impreza/ Protege is way outta my price range. Most decent impreza's/protege's will cost at least 10k, probably more.

keep in mind that at the end of the day, you're buying a 20 year old car, and all the problems that come with it. Even if it's well maintained, there's still 20 years of wear on every part (except the injectors, it seems ;) ).
a more modern car, even if it doesn't look as "sporty" will undoubtedly have better reliability, probably more power, and probably a better chassis. depending on what size car you're looking for, most modern big sixes will go for under ten, up until about early 2000's. Try a commodore up to VX, or falcon up to AU.
