Kutaragi's successor to kick off Japan's biggest game show.
by Anoop Gantayat

July 18, 2007 - The Tokyo Game Show will once again start off with a keynote address by Sony Computer Entertainment's president, only this year it won't be Ken Kutaragi. The head of Sony's videogame business is now Kazuo Hirai, and he will do the honors at this year's show in a keynote address to be titled "The Expanding PlayStation World, Business Strategy For New Growth."

Good. So that's a 100% increase that he won't go on for 2 hours talking about theory and engineering.

My guess,

He'll try to focus on the aspect of calling on Indie Japanese developers to work on PSN based games n make quick cash for their smartness. Japan is filled with those IMO and a good bait like a 'focused how to' for such people could do wonders for PSN.

Go Kaz Go!!

I'd say they're going to talk about all of the additional services beyond gaming that both PS3 and PSP can offer. I guess they could finally announce the media download service.

they'll focus on PSN and digital distribution- and hopefully include VoD (Video on Demand).

PS. why do I feel Kaz has moved to Japan? is that the HQ of his new role? I thought he would stay in N.A.

I think Phil H. is by far their best speaker. He definitely has a very firm and comfortable stage presence.

Definitely. Everyone else seems to come across with a certain awkwardness and seems to have a tendency to stumble, but when Phil comes on stage he's very cool, calm and collected.

Agree, but Kaz is a cool guy though.
Im looking forward to this keynote and hope that Sony can gain points in Japan!

Well, after that whole Ridge Racer incident, he's been knocked down a few pegs. ;)

He comes second only to Phil though.

that ridge racer joke made on him is just silly and blown over proportions by our juvenile interweb surfers.

Just as long as he's singing "Fiiiiiinnnnaaaallll Fantttaassssyyy" this time around, I couldn't give a flying fxck. :realmad

Give me what I want. Or the PS3 gets it.
