Well.
This May be OLD but on the Darkness Myspace Page Lord Sonatine released a Bulletin that says they will patch the game for Multi AFTER the August Update.
Here it is: If u have a myspace account add this guy and look at his bulletins.
Brotherhood Of Darkness
(http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=102472620)
Heres a a link to the Blog that says the same thing also: Blog (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=102472620&blogID=289150823)

Heres a Transcript btw
You dont have to believe me but i kno its true.
" Brotherhood,

Here's what's going on with the multiplayer:

Right now, it seems that the main cause of the lag is the bandwidth of those hosting multiplayer games. We didn't get any lag problems during our testing because we have pretty good bandwidth speeds. We are working on a patch that will hopefully solve this problem.

We aim to release the patch sometime next month for the 360. For PS3 users, we are waiting for Sony's August patch for our update to work. After that happens, we'll fix your multiplayer, too. But, for both systems, until we get the patch there is a temporary fix, straight from the developer:

Check your bandwidth speeds and follow these guidelines. This should ensure that you minimize or completely eliminate the lag.
- below a 1.5 megabit/s upstream, host only up to 3 players
- 1.5 - 4 megabit/s upstream, host only up to 4 players
- above 4 megabit/s upstream, host up to 8 players.

Your bandwidth upstream is how fast data can be sent over your internet connection to the other players in your match, so if your speed is too slow for the amount of players you are hosting, your game is going to lag. If you don't know your upstream, here's a quick way to check. Use this link from speedeasy and check your upstream numbers against our guidelines above: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/links.php

Now some bad news for those of you who've been asking - No, there will not be any patches or updates that will bring Darkness powers into the multiplayer games. I've already told some of you individually why, but I'll tell the lot of you what's going on. Simply, it would throw the balancing out of whack and would not be fun. The Darkness Powers make you reallly, REALLY strong. Since single player was our focus we didn't work on a way to make the Darkness Powers feasible. It would have taken A LOT of time to get those powers to work in a mutliplayer game that would not have been cheap and frustrating. HOWEVER, if we do a sequel that is definitely something that we will do our best to include... especially if The Brotherhood wills it enough.

Finally, you've put up with a lot regarding the multiplayer so I'm opening myself up to your challenge. Find me on Xbox Live under the gamertag, "Master Kweif". I don't have time to formalize a match with everyone, but when I have a free moment The Brotherhood of The Darkness, as always, will be the first to know.

~Lord Sonatine"

This seems slightly ridiculous. The upload speeds seem way to high. Seems like a good way to get everyone to go to speakeasy.net and do a speed test and increase the hit count for that site.

Most upload speeds are much lower then 1 megabit.

This would never be feasible in most homes in North America and Europe.

If this is the requirement for Online then these developers screwed up.

They definately must have screwed up... I have 384kbits of upstream, and I have a rather average german dsl (my dsl gets updated soon to much more^^ the price was dropped!)

Nice hint :)

Yeah, those upstream bandwidth requirements are just ridiculous.

So perhaps the 2.00 is the August Patch? And Sony is going the way of the 360 with tiny patches followed by a yearly big one. Sounds good to me.

Don't forget about 1.9...

There isn't a rule that requires releasing 0.1 updates at most, but who knows.

I think 2.0 will be the next update. I think we get a .5 update twice a year, so one major update, one semi-major update and many small tweaks between those per year. We'll see.

I'll bet you $20 that the next major update is 1.9 ;)

I'd say it's likely that we'll see 1.9 next Thursday and 2.0 in August. The way Phil Harrison talks about libraries revision in August here (http://forums.e-mpire.com/showthread.php?t=76710) makes me think we'll see it before September indeed, and we might get it close to the Leipzig Games Conference or just a bit after that.

To Smokey,
The game has to support the upconversion it is a new rendering option given to game developers. I have RB6V, the online is painful and the 1080i upconversion is soft, but I'm still having fun.

Personally i think 1.9 will release in 2 - 3 weeks which places it in August.
And that post on the Blog by Patrick Seybold could just mean they will have INFO and a Possible Release Date on the Firmware as per request by the people who comment on the blog, but the firmware itself wont come till August.
All of this is IMO of course.

I'm putting off a couple of the wonky PS2 titles I want to play until then.

PS3 turns the new Tomb Raider into mush, the sound is very broken.

You mean, another Ubi game that runs bad on the PS3^^

j/k

I think, we'll get a little update next week or the week after next, as Seybold said, we will get infos on the new update next week. Sony usually was very silent about the updates (what could have changed ever since) until they were released, so the next two weeks is a good bet.

The next big update will hit on or the week before the release of Home and will incidentally be very home centric. But as home incorporates many abilities outside home (game launching etc.), don't fret.

I am STILL hoping though, that Sony eases up on the mp4 restrictions. Many mp4s just dont work (even if they are mp4, like high profile 5.1 (not the sound^^) etc.) and the dlna stuff (dunno if its the server side or the ps3 though) needs work too.

Got three shelves groaning with PS2 games, all run great, the one PS2 game I want to play doesn't work, typical. :)

Man, I wasn't even sure^^

So I stand corrected... But since the two ports of FFVII and VIII are SOOO sucky (both Eidos!), I can say, they sucked too^^
