is it in HD?

Fucking...no. I assure you I would've used a lot more exclamation points if it were. It's still a great game though..and if you have a PSP it's worth the $10.

It's SD..!

Sir I played it on my PS3 in my games room, played it on the PSP on the bus to lunch with the wife, during lunch with the wife, don't think she liked that, now I'm downloading it to the living room PS3.

SotN is the only Catlevania game I have played and I liked it a lot. I will never admit I played that 3D one on PS2!

So...is this game tough? As in hard to beat?

I think maybe my wife would like it -she likes older side scrollers (mario), but not if it's too hard.

Yes.

The DS Castlevanias are much easier, this is like the SNES ones.

Or you could wait for this and get more bang for your buck: Dracula X Chronicles (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3156895)

The legendary Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (never before released outside Japan) gets an overhaul on Sony's PSP -- with completely new 3D graphics but its classic side-scrolling action left intact. Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles also includes unlockable versions of the original Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night. Developed and published by Konami.

That's a better deal, and I'm going to buy that.

That is, if the Rhondo of Blood is uncut in the 2D iritation of the package.

2D iritation...

Yeah, never found 2D all that irritating.

Also, "if"... did you not read what I just posted? ...just posted?

What would they cut from it if it says "original version"?

Haha, anybody care to find the differences between the 360 version and tell me which one is better?

Applefiend

The 360 has achievement points.

I have both if you'd like a comparison photo. :)

On the 360 you have the suffer the god awful 360 dpad of course.

Gave them both a quick run. The PS1 version seems to have extra video not present in the XBLA one. Also on hdmi the PS3 version seems sharper, don't know how the XBLA one would look on hdmi on an Elite.

The XBLA one has a border too.

The "enhanced graphics" on the XBLA version is graphics filtering, PS3 filters PS1 games so that's equal.

The PS Net version is cheaper.

PS3 and XBLA versions. Your job is to guess which is which. :) They're both filtered so look identical.

PSNet version is 385MB(Extra video...?) XBLA one is 95MB.

I'd pick the PS Net one for price, dpad, video, sharpness(on my non Elite), and portability(Runs on PSP).

I don't know which is which but the one on the right looks sharper and more vibrant imo (even thoughts it a little closer to the screen then the one the left so I can't say if its my imagination or not). But i'm guessing the one on the right is the PSN version.

Right one is PS3, and my hand was shaking a bit more. I take terrible photos. :)

How much does the XBLA version cost!? It's $9.99 on the PSN store and even then it's the most expensive PSOne game :-p

Anyhoo, Lucent has a good suggestion, but I'm just going to have both -- I just couldn't wait to get this game on my PS3/PSP, and I'll be getting the Dracula X Chronicles when it comes out (hopefully in October) :)

Lemmie look it up....

800 points, thought it was a 1000. That's 10 dollars.

So it's the same price on XBLA.

Done. I just have to get 200% map complete and beat it again and then I'm completely done..but I may just level up to 99 for the hell of it.

*kicks open Applefiend's, LiquidEagle's, and Coded Dude's doors* PROGRESS REPORT!!

edit: Oh shit I forgot about Richter mode. Well..getting that after 199% completion.

I'm at 194% or so... I have a few questions though since I haven't played the game in years and I can't get a straight answer out of the FAQs...

To get the duplicator, do I have to beat Dracula? I don't want to beat him and then not be able to keep playing in the castle... So if I beat Dracula, I get a clear save and I still get to roam the castle, right? I don't want to get stuck in a new game +....

Also, once I've gone into Dracula's room I've explored everywhere except for a few blocks that I can't seem to explore in the reverse catacombs area where the boatman normally is. Are you using the hacks to get outside the castle for your 200% and do I need to level my familiars or anything to get additional %?

Danji
07-25-2007, 09:06 AM
I will help as much as possible. The duplicator you do NOT get from beating Dracula. It may unlock it at the Librarian's shop but I don't know about that.

Those anti-underground catacombs %s are driving me nuts too. I gave up to go kick Drac's ass. I may just go make a thread over at the Castlevania Dungeon to ask about it and link it here.

I am not using hacks. Familiars shouldn't be necessary to unlock any areas. Also you can re-load the file when you beat Dracula and keep playing the game. It's not a new game+ scenario at all. It does unlock Richter mode though.

I know I have to purchase the duplicator in the library, but I've got the 500,000 gold and it's not showing up. So once I beat Dracula the game ends and I can't continue in the castle??

You can continue. You just re-load the file and it registers everything just fine (except the map coverage with Dracula's room).

I am checking on the underground caverns problem.

Sorry for the double post but Efin on Castlevania Dungeons helped.

Turn into the wolf when you're as high up in the water as you can be. It's such a pain at first.

Whoa! Watching the credits of Symphony of the Night right now, and I just saw that the CG was done by Kenichiro Imaizumi, who is now a producer at Kojima Productions and is one of the producers of MGS4!

That ending theme is also arranged by Rika Muranaka, whom we all know is the genius behind a couple of MGS's greatest songs too :-D

Cynthia Harrell did the vocals too! She was the one that sang Snake Eater... this is too cool! :-p

Hmm... I don't have a PSP so that is out of the question. However the videos do intrigue me. I'm not an achievement whore, so I don't really care about achievements, so I might just get the PSN version.

We'll see tho, I'm not in any hurry to buy the game lol.

I downloaded it and watched the intro, but I haven't started on it yet.
I think I may put it on my PSP(rather than play it on the PS3) - but I will have a "better" progress report next time Danji.

(please don't hurt me)
