Post impressions here when you see it.

I'll be seeing it tomorrow afternoon.

A few reviews have come in, and they are all positive so far:

I saw it yesterday.
I already posted my opinion in the 'Last Movie You Watched' thread.
So here they were:

Excellent!
I had my doubts, as do many people, I'm sure.
But it exceeded all my expectations.
My ONLY complaint is that it felt too short.

I saw it yesterday, too. *high five*

I liked it. I didn't love it, but then I dont love the TV series. It was a hell of a lot better than any episode ive ever seen, though. The thing that annoyed me the most was how it ends with 'To be continued'. That pissed me off so much. Oh well.

Oh, stay untill after the credits and you'll see some extra stuff. Like... Maggie's first words
*not actually a spoiler, really*

It really ends with TO BE CONTINUED?

=-o
NOOOOO!

Or is that a joke from the movie?
They made a good movie it seems, don't ruin The Simpsons name with a sequel :(

Seeing it today...maybe.
I'm not a big fan of watching movies in a cinema...All those damn people.

I'm surprised at you.
You of all people.
People who don't care about cinema won't notice a difference other than they have to go outside.
Outside of them though, those of us who respect cinema should know which films are worth the cinema experience and which movies might as well be watched at home on DVD.

DVD waiters and downloaders, you're missing out.
You can watch The Simpsons on your TV anytime.
It really is worth seeing it at the cinema.
This is not just a long TV show on the big screen.

The thing that annoyed me the most was how it ends with 'To be continued'. That pissed me off so much. Oh well.
Yeah, but on the bright side, I hear they're aiming for a trillogy of Simpsons movies.

Also, I don't consider it a problem that one would make a sequel from a movie that is based on a TV series.
Especially when said TV series has over four-hundred episodes.

I appreciate any movie much more when I'm watching it in my own 'environment'.

In the cinema I'm always focused on something else- Weather it's someone laughing obnoxiously or some guy fidgiting or even one cough can annoy me so yeah....Not a big fan of cinemas to the contrary of what you said- I don't like cinames because I care about watching the movies at 100% focus.

I love The Simpsons and I do want to pay them the money AND experience the cinema version but on the other hand- The risk of ending up with an obnoxious crowd thus the movie being spoilt is too high.

I will probably end up going though.

I hear they're aiming for a trillogy of Simpsons movies.
Oh if that was already planned then I don't have a problem with a sequel- Awesome.

Actually, that was a lie.
I'm not sure what I was going for there.
Something about the "to be continued."
Now I'm disappointed.
Sorry. *shamefully slinks out of thread*

Oh, and I feel similarly about cinema audiences, but I suppose I am content to put up with it.
Of course, the audiences around where I live aren't significantly annoying, so it's easy for me.
I do find it somewhat irritating that I was one of the only people laughing at some of the more subtle aspects of this film, and others at times, such as during 'Hot Fuzz'.
Although I tend to laugh at good setups as well as punchlines.
And a lot of other things that most people probably wouldn't consider to be actual jokes.
But I laugh quietly when no one else is laughing, so as not to annoy them.

pretty damn good, better than a lot of the episodes recently. Seemed like the best moments were all within like the first half though, but it still was good after that. I really enjoyed the scene when Homer was sinking into that hole.

It was all my dreams and more. I don't think there's any expectation, desire or wish that wasn't fulfilled, exceeded then blown away by this movie.

Best. Movie. Ever.

Ehh, the movie was better than alot of the recent episodes, but it still wasn't OMG good.

But that could be because some fag behind me in the theaters had the most annoying laugh I have ever heard, and he was laughing every two seconds. Even if nothing funny was happening, he'd still be laughing. I didn't even realize it was a he untill I looked back to see who was laughing (sounded like a women's laugh at first).

I was so close to getting up and cussing at him.

EDIT: I don't mean anything derogatory to gay's by saying Fag... Just putting that up right now.

That was Ralph..
However..heres my review I wrote for another forum.

Being a major Simpsons fan, I was not very pleased with the movie. The most exciting part for me was the introduction, but after that it just went down hill. The beginning scene featured Homer and Bart on the Simpsons roof putting shingles and using jokes already from "Dont fear the Roofer", season 16, episode 16. The movie then continued with the infamous "Bart naked" scene, a scene obviously put in there to create hype for the movie. From then on, the movie is playing off of "selfish, clueless homer." and Marge and Homer exchanging conversations from previous episodes. The dome idea seemed to be way too far fetched, even for Simpsons, and dare I say, would even be too far fetched for Family Guy. How Homer and his family escaped the dome was extremely predictable and even more so on how Homer would save the family. The only scene I truly enjoyed after Homer dumped the silo into the lake was when Home and Bart jumped Springfield Gorge.

In my opinion, they should have had much more satire in the movie and built upon the side characters personalities instead of focusing just on Homer. With the reasons above and the more colorful and animated frames compared to the television show.....2/5

I really don't see how the long-awaited Simpsons Movie would possibly need such hype.
I'm sure that scene was done because it was funny.
In fact, there are several moments that would be out-of-place in a regular episode, and I believe this is due to the writers intentionally differentiating the movie from the TV series, as opposed to just writing one long episode, which is pretty much what seems to have been done with Family Guy's 'Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story'.
(But then again, there is little more that Family Guy could do to set the movie apart from the series without breaking rating classification too intensely.)

From then on, the movie is playing off of "selfish, clueless homer."
That's what The Simpsons has usually been about.

The dome idea seemed to be way too far fetched...
Sure, but you have to remember, this is a fictitious cartoon movie.
Besides, there are already countless amounts of live-action movies that have far-fetched plots that have made it into cinema history.
My point is, a movie can be good regardless of far-fetchedness.

How Homer and his family escaped the dome was extremely predictable and even more so on how Homer would save the family.
This isn't a mystery, it's a comedy.
Ending predictability isn't important.
Having fun along the way is.

The only scene I truly enjoyed after Homer dumped the silo into the lake was when Home and Bart jumped Springfield Gorge.
So you didn't like the way they re-used old themes, yet you liked the reprisal of this scenario?
It would seem that the value of such repetition is a purely subjective matter, and as such has no place in an objective argument.

In my opinion, they should have had much more satire in the movie and built upon the side characters personalities instead of focusing just on Homer.
Throughout the duration of the show, The Simpsons has always revolved around Homer, as he is the head of the Simpson family. Of course, there are some episodes that allow some of the side-character citizens of Springfield to shine, but it would be inappropriate to have such a focus in The Simpsons Movie.
