They're definately not the only ones doing it. But we need to spread the word on this behavior every time we find out about it. Whoever does it.

Ouch. If it weren't for the grand in your pocket, it wouldn't be so bad as it's a common thing in many industries but to flat out pay them??

I'd like to see if any journalists who attend the event come back with any negative reports just to see their character.

I guess that all of the official magazines, and even some unofficial ones can be considered as being on their respective companies payroll.

Last year, Microsoft gave away free laptops to blogs and whatnot. Now, Sony Online Entertainment is in the news. What next?

I would do it....and could remain objective about the content.
if it were more.....I could see this as a problem, but its just 1k!
(I'd bet it all on black in one fail swoop) ;-]

btw - I am just kidding, tis bad to hand out money for bias.

You don't have to be a journalist to get some good stuff... Sony reps in Australia take out managers and staff from EB Games stores to strip joints, etc, to influence them...

I remember that, they were giving away plasma tv's as well. And for as much crap as EGM gets, the Editor-In-Chief wrote about it and how he didn't accept it because it's just "unprofessional" (100% agreed) while also being ashamed at how many of his peers (not from EGM) did accept them. This kind of thing is disgusting from a journalists standpoint and kudos to those who turn it down.

These things happen because journalism withing gaming is corrupted not because the companies who pull these stunts are.

I have shown strong hate for gaming ''journalists'' for a long time and why?
Because you can buy and sell their opinions with gum.

Am I saying this makes it okay for Sony or Ms or Nintendo to do these? Well, yes because it's jsut another trick in the book but why this trick was added to the book in the first place is the corrupted/ shitty journalism.

That was the post I made in the OTHER IDENTICAL THREAD!
I'm getting the feeling that PSiNext is trying to say ''lol we are rlly not sony fanboiz, look we got articles showing bad sony stuff''.

I come up to you and say, "This is our new game. This is a free TV. How's the game?" and that's the journalist's fault?

If the cause was corrupted journalism instead of corrupted companies, why wouldn't all three companies be doing it? Show me an incident of Nintendo bribing journalists and I'll retract my statement. (*Perrin Kaplan flirting with Matt Casamassina doesn't count.) Corrupted journalists are the effect, not the cause.

What would they do if they gave you 1,000$ then you didn't write some biased article. Something like "This game was cool, this other game sucked" etc.

The giver and receiver of the bribe are both at fault. The game companies can allow honest reviews, but if they don't, they are wrong. The reviewers can refuse the bribe or act uninfluenced by it, but if they don't, they are wrong too.
