This has been bugging the shit out of me for a long time. This stupid BEFSR41 4 port router has been losing my connection constantly. I start surfing the net and everythings going fine and then it drops my connection and then i have to fucking wait like a minute for it to come back. It has only been doing this for the past month and now its really bugging me. I tried looking to see if it was a firmware problem so i go to download the latest firmware and then when i install it my router wont work anymore! WTF. So i try to do the reset button to put it back to factory settings and that wont even work. I called Linksys to tell them my problem and they didnt know what the hell to do. God damn it i had Linksys. D-Link is so much better.

ALWAYS ALWAYS GO THROUGH TECH SUPPORT WHILE YOU FLASH THE FIRMWARE OF ANYTHING. If resetting it to factory defaults the proper suggested way didn't work, your router is gone for good.
I don't think your router was dropping the connection. You check your service lightsfor your modem were on?

OMGZ YOU SCREWED TYOURSELFSS!!!111
I did go through tech support didnt you read my first post? I didnt make this thread to be laughed at. The router has only been doing this recently and i know enough about networking to know that the router was screwed up not any of my wires or connections. My cable works great now that i have it directly connected to the modem.

I had the same router and the same problems (I posted about it before)...Well it finally died about 2 weeks ago. I smashed the shit out of it with a hammer before I threw it out, too bad i didn't take any pics.
Anyway I found this, lots of people are having problems with the BEFSR41:

It's a crappy model router, and Linksys is no help. I called them, they didn't know shit. Sent an email, never got a reply. I really hate Linksys.

All depends on the model you get. It is a shame that compaies release some defective products, such as the IBM DeskStar(Death Star) harddrive.
Overall, I have sucess with both brands. All depends on the people whom put them together at the company I suppose in both design, and on the maufaturing line.
