Is the U.N. relevant anylonger. I don't think so they won't help the world from tyrants like it was meant to. The U.N. is nothing but a debating society. it can give aid but other than that it is worth diddly squat.

It is relevant, we're just not obeying their orders right now, which will come and bite us in the ass later on.

Screw the U.N....They're probably being bribed by one of the nations against us...

Who would there be to bribe? It's not like it's a country or anything....... it's just a group of leaders. Unless you're refering to certain countries' leaders being bribed, but if that were the case we could easily out-bribe them.
Think of them as Nintendo when it comes to bribing, and the US as Microsoft ;)

The U.N. was created to maintain world peace and order. And yet they can't stop Bush from starting a war. Even congress can't stop Bush from continuing this war. The judicial branch is helpless as well. And as for the regular people like you and me, we don't even exist. This, by far, is the strangest democracy I've heard of.

Congress gave Bush power to declare war; or was that only for Afghanistan?

He got approval from Congress, the u.n. won't do crap for the security of this world. The U.N. should get rid of the veto capability for it ever to be a real democracy.

I think that the UN is still relevant today, perhaps more so than ever. As has been said by commentators on the news lately, we're no longer isolated by two oceans as we once were. I think we need to very much a part of the international community, to make sure that things like WWII don't happen in the future. While diplomacy may have failed this time, we still need to hold out hope for it in the future.

If they got rid of the ability to veto, how would it be a "real democracy"?

^^^^ the vote even if a majority can be vetoed by one opposing nation. In a democracy majority wins. Yes the pres. can veto but congress can override that veto. I don't no what that makes the U.N. but it surraly it is not a democracy.
