could go in Sports but it can go here instead

Sevilla's (soccer) defender Antonio Puerta died after collapsing on the pitch 35 minutes into the opening game of the season, players and medics rushed to stop him swallowing his tongue. He was lead from the pitch but suffered a heart attack in the dressing room and was rushed to hospital where he died.

i saw this on sky sports news this morning, kinda shocking and scary to know it could happen to anyone, football fans will remember john terry recently being saved after he swallowed his tongue and stopped breathing...scary

Don't really know much about him as a player as i dont watch much spanish football but still sad to hear...RIP

It's very sad to see people trying to interview his wife/girlfriend as she's rushing off to see him

Also while were on the subject id like to say RIP to 18yr old qpr striker Ray jones who recently died in a car accident

How do you just, collapse on-field? Does that happen often?

RIP.

RIP.I don't know, it tends to happen to the same two or three people in my marching band every week or so. :P But they never die, obviously...

...That's very sad. Rest in peace. :(

I watched that game live, it was very worrying just to see him lying there, I was thinking "great his team-mate noticed and rushed to help, good save" but to hear he died afterwards was a big sad shock.

R.I.P. and condolences to his loved ones.
