oh yeah, duh

i didnt realize it was in the football section

but i mostly like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, even though they are so horrible

you gotta have hometown loyalty

I also like the Colts, and have for a couple years now

and thats about it

although I used to really like Green Bay

Jaguars.

We need to bench the starting QB and put in the bad ass back up we have.

BigfootGus
08-29-2007, 07:31 AM
whos the backup there?

Viper
08-29-2007, 07:48 AM
David Garrard. He has an accurate cannon and can scramble damn good. Every game he plays in he's either saves our asses or starts and wins it all outright but the coach for the past 3 years has stuck with our drafted QB while the better talent watches us from the sidelines.

BigfootGus
08-29-2007, 07:53 AM
i think ive heard of him

and whos your starting QB right now?

i dont really keep up with all the teams

Viper

Byron Leftwich. He has moments of good stuff but it's far too inconsistent.

BigfootGus

im not too familiar with jacksonville

only that they have a kickass running game

didnt they beat tampa a couple weeks ago?

Zac

I remember Maurice Drew from UCLA. He ran for 320 yards against Washington in a game.

David Garrard is a stud. I remember watching him play when he was at ECU still. Big boy too.

I was surprised they gave Leftwich the start. I know he is back from injuries this season, but he is slipping. I would not be shocked to see the Jags loose Garrard to a team that gives him the starting role.

Yes, 31-19. Don't worry about it being preseason and all though.

I remember Maurice Drew from UCLA. He ran for 320 yards against Washington in a game.He and Taylor split time in the backfield and both can put up big yards. Jones though is so damn short that he's hard to tackle and I've literally see him run into a crowd of players and pop out the other side hauling ass.

Last year they combined for over 300 yards against the Colts in the same game (375 yards team total rushing yards).

Forgot to add, he did a 94 yard kick off return for TD in the game too.

That's my fear. Our 3rd string is also decent and I'd be OK even him leading the team but I really want Garrard to be given the opportunity to prove what he can do here and not elsewhere. Leftwhich is tough as hell, I'll give him that, but that doesn't win games.

My favorite team is also the Jaguars. The trio of QB's, Leftwich, Garrard, and Gray, are all good. I also prefer Garrard to Leftwich. One of the best defenses in the league coupled with the 2nd best rushing duo and an average passing game, I honestly think the Jags have a very good shot of at least making the wildcard and advancing past the first round...as long as we can stop losing to the damn Titans and Texans.

Bucs are the hometown team, so they have my loyalty. I wish we could get some consistency at QB and OL.

And I've been rooting for the Colts ever since Dungy went to coach them.

My favorite team is the 49ers, they should make a good push for the playoffs since they picked up some good free agents and had one fo the best drafts.

Alex Smith is getting better and frank gore is a monster.
I think they'll make the playoffs this year or the next.

The Bears, and this season I live even closer to Indianapolis (practically in it), lol. I can't stand the Colts for those who don't remember (I think I have mentioned it here before, anyway).

what do you expect?

Viper

We sat our entire starting roster on O and D and still had a great game.

3rd string QB Quinn Gray will most likely be cut tomorrow but not because he didn't play good, we just don't really need 3 QB's and he'll be quickly snapped up by just about any other team needing a really good backup.

^ yeah, I wouldn't be so sure. The jags always have QB related injuries. I half expect them to keep him. He's actually a pretty good player.

I'm pumped for the Packers this season. They should have a STRONG D this year. A welcome surprise.

Favre is going to break several records this year, and seal his place as one of, if not the best quarterback in NFL history. I don't care if we have a mediocre year as long as Bret makes his a good year for him, personally.

Viper

Goku, problem is we have 3 other positions with battles going on and the coach basically has to decide which position can be sacrificed more so than which ones are good players because they all stepped up through preseason.

We've had the same QB string for several years now. I think it's time to let one of backups go make a name for himself. They deserve it. Though if it were me, I'd put Garrard as starter, Gray as backup and let Leftwich scrap it out over a starting job elsewhere.

goku2057
08-31-2007, 10:39 PM
^ Same. Leftwich has dropped off, and Gerrard seems to get the job done better.

They'd also save a lot of cap room on that, too. The Jags are going to have a great team this year.

Viper
08-31-2007, 10:45 PM
They let a few big names go over the summer for even more cap room and we were already doing damn god for the cap. If they'd drop Leftwich, they'd damn near have enough cap room to buy out a whole other teams roster.

This is the exact opposite of our early 2000 years when we were so strapped for cash they were recycling the stadium hot dog buns as replacement tackle dummies.

Viper
08-31-2007, 11:34 PM
lol, it just happened. He's being traded. Hells to the yeah.

Zac
09-01-2007, 12:17 AM
CBS says they might just cut him. Kind of surprising how much he dropped off; he looked like he could have a promising career just a couple years ago. That's the NFL for you.

Viper
09-01-2007, 12:20 AM
They're trying to trade him first but if no takers, he will be cut.

Garrard has an arm and awareness as good if not better plus he can run.

Zac
09-01-2007, 12:23 AM
I'm guessing that there won't be any takers as far as a trade because he has a pretty big contract, and the Jags have no leverage.

If Leftwich gets hurt (again) they could always pick up a decent back-up for Garrard if need be.

Lol, we already have one in Quinn Gray and he plays for less millions.

I wonder if the Jags will get another black QB to keep it so all 3 QBs are black.

I always root for the Packers unless they're playing the Bucs.
If this is Favre's last year I hope he goes out breaking Marino's records.

And damn, the whole Garrard thing worked out perfect for Viper.

Hmmm.....

Boy, it'd be great if Nintendo uses some of that Exxon like profits to buy Capcom, SE, namco and Konami.
