We have other things we can do with tax money, folks. Petroleum companies don't need to rape our tax dollars too.

Much appreciated!

Nice initiative but I need to read the actual bill presented by the legislator first. I've learned many reps start up a bill that looks like a boon for the people only to find it laced with a lot of hidden bad stuff.

If after review and it holds up, I'll sign.

Fair enough. If you find it acceptable, spread the word.

You know, I just came back from Saudi Arabia (a week and a bit ago) and they've got petrol going for roughly 6p a litre.
Then I came back and was greeted by a big sign saying "Unleaded: 97.9p"
Almost made me tear out my heart in despair.

huh? How are petroleum companies raping our tax dollars though. Most of the taxes you get charged at the pump are state taxes and not national.

Also wouldn't it be kind of unfair to end subsidizing to the oil industry yet still subsidize everything else?

They make billions of dollars a year. Profit.

Not net.

They don't need governmental assistance. People in Flint need federal taxdollars. People in east Detroit need it too.

I'm sick and fucking tired of these tax breaks to corporations. Some free fucking market.

Ok if you are talking about large companies like exxon mobile or valero etc then yea they don't really need the tax break. But the smaller companies that actually drill the wells etc, may need it.

Bryan

Sure. But those qualify typically as small businesses. Perhaps some of them are LLC's.

Nigga please, they have been dumping money into Detroit for decades with no improvement. Michigan has so much going for it (geographically it is the perfect manurfacturing state) if it would only deregulate. If they were not so anti-business Detroit would have it made. Remember businesses create jobs, a profitable business creates employee benifits and bonuses.

The auto industry has abandoned us for cheap labor in Mexico.

They'll see what that means when the Japanese totally take them out, won't they?

But nevermind that. I guess I can continue to pay the government to kill people.

Its not just corporations that "take" tax dollars, they do taxes every year.

I'm taking a business class, and yes, its free-market. The other side of that equation, however, has communism attached to it. On the other side of the world, they do something called "planned system." This system, like I said before, has communism attached to it.

So, basicly, you can't do anything about it, not even the democrats/republicans can. However, the goverment's interference in the business world is very subtle. They make laws for companies small, medium, or large.

Without the tax charges, companies would sink in a downward spiral of their own, and that's not all. The economy takes the hit, too.

I mean, after the Enron incident? After many hordes of execs have been slapped with lawsuits? Hmm? Getting my point now?

And why have they abandoned Michigan? Ask yourself why Hyundai, BMW, Toyota, Ford and GM have factories in the South, places like Kentucky, and Mississippi? Why are they closing plants in Michigan and opening new ones in other States? I'm not going to tell you the answer as I think you are pretty smart and can figure it out. Here are two hints "closed shop" and "right to work"

You know, prices for gas have come down a good bit since the 'sky is falling' prices of just a few months ago. A drop of over 50 cents is pretty big.

Of course, and the fact that people are pinning the blame where it doesn't belong keeps us from making any real progress on that.

Sure, considering that we've had it incredibly low for decades it will contextually appear high. Let's not even account for inflation and global demand stressed by India and China (far out paces our annual increase % by miles)

Of course, and the fact that people are pinning the blame where it doesn't belong keeps us from making any real progress on that.

Thank you. Someone else who gets it.

Go read up on OPEC and you'll know why the prices are so high. Don't blame Exxon for this one.

opec are the ones who control prices etc and wont up capacity to bring the price down which is understandable

Do you have a better solution that can instantly provide us with the required daily quantity of oil?

Damned if we do, damned if we don't.

A good example of that would be the R.A.V.E. act (Reducing Americans Vulnerability to Extacy). The act basically states that if you throw an event and anyone on the grounds of that event is caught with an illegal substance, you get charged with it. So, everything from concerts to backyard barbeques is covered by it due to it's vague wording. So far it has only been enforced a couple times (namely at pro-marijuana rallies), but it's an evil ace up their sleeves.

Of course, nobody in the right mind would vote for such an act, so they simply attached the act as an amendment to the amber alert bill (which was 100% guaranteed to pass, obviously) and it is now a law. Total bullshit, it should be made illegal to do such things but they do it every day to strip us of our rights and pass laws that otherwise would have had to chance in hell of making it.
