View Full Version : so is this the new plan for the world affairs replacement?

dork

for general discussion to become it? or do the rules no longer apply? i've been reading over some threads. so many people arguing. too much politics and everyone thinking that they are right and everyone else is wrong. we are never going to get along. shouldn't we just respect each others opinions instead of arguing? it is pointless. no one here is better than anyone else. i like you all. let us all like each other.

world affairs was a slugfest...the madhouse was more mature than world affairs

Some examples would be nice, I don't see any political stuff (except that one thread).

Also let us not forget I am always right and the opposition is always wrong.

masteratt is so stupid he doesn't understand what politics means.

Maybe that's why.

Some examples of political discussions please dork.

Just because it doesn't explicitly explore the political/religious aspects within the first post (or first few pages) doesn't mean that it isn't there. These are just on the first page. You can argue over whether or not they're actually political but then again I would reiterate that just because it's not an argument, doesn't mean it isn't political, and if we're going to have a rule forbidding it, it should be a little more specific. Or enforced at all, so we can learn to understand the specifics.

As long as no one blows up, I'm fine with a little discussion. It's what makes the community grow, really.

I'm a pretty lax moderator. Unless something really gets out of hand, i let it slide. And since this is my domain...Yeah.

I think some occasional discussion can be quite helpful and interesting if closely monitored and punishment for flaming is swift and just.

Its certainly better than threads about shit and orgasms.

Why do some posts come with only a quote and nothing before or after. Is that a glitch, their mistake, or is that just a way of saying i second the thought stated in the quote? every time i see them it confuzzles me a tad. perhaps im just moronic. this is most likely the case....

Its certainly better than threads about shit and orgasms.Yes. It made me feel good to actually talk about something other than the random Madhouse crap. I like active General Discussion threads, even if they are political/religious/etc.

It means they basically said what you intended to say, Rioteer.

It's something we picked up from the XL vets.

Anyway, we've all been behaving. I don't feel that the discussions going on about political stuff are taking away from discussions elsewhere. I'm not here holding a grudge against anyone that disagrees with me, as I know they are destined to bathe in the lake of fire for being so ignorant.

But I digress. <3 Dork. Relax, man. It's all good!

There were only about ten members who actually made any kind of intelligent posts in there anyhow, so creating a request-only board would really just get us back to where we left off. I'm not interested in preaching solely to the converted, and by that I mean that I want to have some kind of discussion with people who haven't yet crossed the threshold into giving a damn about the world around them.

I'm not exactly sure what I just said, but I know that not enough people care! About what, I'm not sure!

Will we have to do anything to keep our "invitation" so to speak? Will we have to post alot or something?

Because I would love to have one. I love reading up on various things, it is just that I would only contribute when I have something orginal to say. Which probably means I wouldn't post much.

Viper

Good question. We'd prefer only those that plan to be active to request an invite but so long as you do post periodically, we'll probably honor it.

Perhaps, then, you should make the board viewable to everyone and let the invite only apply to posting, as I'm sure many people would like to read but not post (so much).

Yeah I guess this would be a better idea then. I could probably request posting whenever I fell that I have to contribute an idea (which would probably not be often).
